Ways to prevent wheel bite

I'm riding Indy 10's right now and im about to set up some 56ers i just got.

I already get terrible wheel bite with 52ish wheels and risers so i know it'll only get worse.

Any advice?

Are your trucks narrower than your deck? That could be a big culprit right there. Get trucks that match up with your board or are slightly wider. No 7.75 trucks on an 8.25+ deck.

Otherwise, you could try thicker risers (like 1/4 instead of 1/8) and/or harder bushings. The harder bushings will make your trucks feel tighter.

Board control is definitely a big variable. I see guys with super loose trucks that never get wheelbite because they always land centered just so over their boards.  I actually get wheelbite a lot more than I used to even though my setup is very similar to what I used to ride, mainly because my board control is not as good as when I was a teenager.

I weigh 140 and there is no way i'm tightening my trucks.

I've got 1/4 risers on right now and my trucks are .25 smaller than my board.

I'm just going to start waxing under my wheels.

Do you mean 1/4" risers or 1/8" risers? You shouldn't need risers at all with 52mm wheels. Are they standard Indys or the Indy lows? I've always ridden regular Indys.

How tight are your trucks? If you just left the stock setting, you can tighten your trucks a tiny bit, like one turn, and that may cut down on wheelbite while still allowing good turning response.

Also trucks that are .25 *wider* than your deck will help cut down on wheelbite, as will a deck with a little more concave.

Yeah i always use risers because i get such bad wheel bit.

I'm riding regular indys but it doesn't matter if i tighten them since i ride them without washers.

i believe black label has their black hole technology where they cut out a ply or to to avoid wheel bite. obviosly it didnt catch on you might be able to find one on ebay

as long as you have som high trucks and maybe some risers you will be fine.

just bring out the jigsaw, and cut the wheelbite spots out. plus... this will force you to land all your tricks on the
bolts all the time.
 otherwise wax will do it.
