I like the high five followed by a "fist bump", but only from friends. What sucks is when people you met for the first time are uncomfortable with a handshake or they don't know how to do it properly. You don't grab my fucking fingers idiot, you grab my hand, hold firmly, it's not made of china and don't be scared of having human physical contact that lasts more than a second. 1 to 3 seconds is a perfectly appropriate time for a handshake.

i don't like shaking hands unless i absolutely have to.  if its a work situation, okay.  if its a social one with a bunch of dirty skaters, i'd rather not.  even more so when its winter, i'm not trying to catch a cold. 
honestly, i think most of us get pretty grimy when we skate.  we wipe/pick my nose, fall on my hands and touch dirty stuff all the time, it would be rude to try and shake someone hand after that.

not to mention that most people don't wash their hands in general.   i know when i'm dirty and i know when someone else is dirty from skating, so i just throw the fist out.

once i'm cool with someone, i just give them 'the nod'.  i only shake peoples hands(and usually follow it up with a bro hug) if i haven't(or won't) seen them in a while.

Ppl who wear skate clothes and shoes but never skated . I can understand it if you used to skate or if you are interested in skating though . But sporting gear you dont even know is a board company or shoe company , trucks etc  is just messed up .

Once walked up to 2 guys sporting DC shoes , DC hoodies , independent hats and girl shirts and asked them if they knew any local skate parks or good spots , they just looked confused and said they didnt skate . I belive I actually face palmed and walked away in dissbelife

Same here. I used to work in a clothes shop and during the last few months before I left for Uni, I was quite possibly the most horrible, unhelpful and generally angry employee the company had ever hired.
