I actually prefer to skate alone.

i prefer to go skate alone. if i run into some people, fantastic, if not, cool. who's got time to coordinate with other people when you want to bust out for a quick session.
i'd say you need a cell phone and friends who are down to skate.

still takes too long when you just wanna get out there. what with drive times, inevitably someone will forget their board/shoes/hasn't eaten yet/has to just do this one thing first but i'll be there asap/needs to get gas/doesn't feel up to skate what you want to skate that day/not answer their phone/etc etc etc

I think skating with at least one other person is always a good idea though, if not just from the safety in numbers aspect, then so someone can stand next to you and make snide comments to Dee while you borrow her popcorn bowl.

Ha, don't think I've ever heard of someone turning up to a session without their shoes.

Happened to me once. I showed up to the session from work and thought I had my shoes in the trunk of my car. I was mistaken.

so if we can't skate the same boards as the pros shouldn't we all be skating 2x4's?

high striped socks+cut offs

aka the tyler
I've been rocking both old striped tube socks and cut offs for longer than tyler the creator has been prevalent. To call (and mock) this style as "the tyler" just makes you sound even more like the herb you are. For one, I'm not a fan of his music, and second, aren't you the one posting your overpriced supreme hats on this forum? As sweatercuff previously posted, you truly live up to your name. You are indeed a planking goon.

I was very very guilty of that for many years. It feels good to get that out.

Anyway, I'm sick of (and sorry if they're repeats):

The "Oh, did I forget to shower or change my clothes for a year? Again? Whooooooooa" Peter-Pan-syndrome-I-don't-wanna-grow-up-you-can't-make-me vibe, e.g. half the Baker/Deathwish squad.

that's pretty much exactly it. so much easier to just skate solo or with who ever you know at the spot.

I think if I always had to skate with someone, I would have quit years ago.  Now it's perfect, I can duck out for a couple hours....you can't do that with a round of golf...

I'm mildly annoyed at all the trends that have nothing to do with skateboarding ie. motorcycles.....

vignettes. Should I blame french fred? Every kid with an HD camera now needs thinks a vignette and some color correction will make his video look like film. Which in the right hands can be done, but not by anyone making a skateboard video.

I dislike the two ends of the spectrum:

There are those who will do every single little thing in their power to imitate their skate idols, which is kinda creepy.

And there are those who just wail on trends all day everyday, which begs the question, what ISN'T trendy?
(I guess if you dressed like Pauly D...hahah)

Either way, trends are inevitable.  Shouldn't let them run your life whether you like them or hate em.

speaking of Sir D, the park that was 5 minutes from my house before i moved across town, had this one local kid that used to gel his hair up EXACTLY like Pauly D. He couldn't have been older than 16, and was only like 5'3 (maybe another 5" with the hair though), but it was fucking hilarious seeing him show up to the park with that blown back dragonballZ action hair. Frosted tips too!

this might be a local thing but i really hate it, when people get a new pair of shoes and use both pairs of laces at once, kinda like this

Definately not a local thing, It's on the East Coast too, but I've only ever seen people do it with Dunks.

The most prevalent reason why people bitch about "trends" (some of these things just always 'have been'.  Just because you became aware of it recently does not mean it is a new trend.  That "the tyler" comment is a good example.  High socks are just high socks) is to show that they we're doing it first.

I always get carried away typing inside parenthesis, fuckin multi-sentence asides and shit.  Gotta work on that.
example. i cant cast a spelll or love potion on a girl and she falls total in love for me
but i can show a girl my tv youtube clip on my or her phone. but there's a difference ok

dunks are the most common, however i see a crazy ammount of people doing it with vans eras, which looks even worse because the laces are quite long anyway and theyre only about 4 lace holes so the "quadruple bow" part is dragging on the ground
