100% deserves it. That line with the back 3, 3 flip tail tap, back 5, and fakie 3 made me want to put down my beer, get off the computer and get on my board instantly

fuck yeah, Grant!

that was so awesome.

as much as i think Wes or Dennis or even Nyjah deserved it, no one skates and kills it like Grant. his style, power, flow and trick selection is so fun to watch. i'm not mad at all that he's getting the trophy after seeing this.

the Nike part is gonna be something else.

Now Dennis will never get it. Guess at least 50 % of getting SOTY is how hard you represent the mag.

Grant deserves it nonetheless.

Yeah, unless Dennis puts out some crazy stuff next year for Adidas or a Thrasher website exclusive, I think he'll probably go down as the most shafted skater in SOTY history.

But, with a January cover and the Chocolate video coming out, I'm keeping my eye on Vincent Alvarez for next year. I'm pretty excited to see what Raven puts out, too.

I liked Westgate's part waaaaaay better than this one. Plus, I dig Tortoise way more than that horrible cock-rock track they used in Grant's part. Still would have liked to see Busenitz get it, too. Not a big Phelps fan. Meh, c'est la vie.

I was hoping for Westgate, but Grant's a good choice... At least it was not Nyjah.

Word. I liked Westgate's shoe release part a lot better than Grant's. Grant's music and editing were both annoying. I hope his Nike part can live up to the hype.

That was a double disappointment. I've always liked Grant, but haven't seen much from him this year (maybe I'm just missing it though). With all the SOTY talk and knowing this part was coming, I was hoping for a mind melter part. When he got it, I was preparing myself for an insane part even more, and it just didn't deliver

Comparing this to Pops seems harsh. If you take any one trick out of context, it's not particularly amazing. But then you remember that he is killing pools and street.

Busenitz is somewhere in SF crying his head out...  JK, he's probably somewhere in SF bombing a hill not giving a fuck.  He's always SOTY in my book.

Hell yes. Gravette rips transition and street harder than anything I saw in this part. It's going to take one hell of a Nike part to convince me that Grant deserves this more than Busenitz.

Westgate definitely should have won but I like Grant too so this is okay. Anyone hating on this part doesn't know anything about skateboarding. I imagine that his Nike part will be even better.

Natas, Gonz, Pat Duffy, Tom Penny, Jamie Thomas, Guy Mariano,  Heath Kirchart, PJ ladd, Paul Rodriguez
any award claiming to be for skater of the year starting in 1990 missing these names has already proven itself to mean nothing a thousand times over.

I Like Grant alot he really is good, but thrasher calling there award skater of the year is really misleading, does anyone really believe grant skated harder this year than torey pudwill? Shane o'Neil? or Nyjah? Really?

i'm not even a fan of those guys skating but if your gonna call your award SOTY then you better actually be prepared to hand it to the best skater of the year not just your favourite. i supose skating is subjective though so maybe people really do feel grant is pushing skateboarding more than anyone else this year.
