I want to be fluent in Spanish by the end of 2012. I speak a decent amount and understand more. Maybe it is time to fork over the money for Rosetta Stone.
You'll save money and speak better Spanish if you find a native speaker who wants to improve their English and trade lessons.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

I would consider other options besides Rosetta Stone.  It's not for everyone and I certainly wouldn't waste a dime on it when it's available for free on PB.  I'm no multilinguist or anything but I have tried it and it's not very effective.  It's all repitition without translations and explanations.  I suggest a combination of a textbook and a variety of Spanish movies with English subtitles.  That way you are able to pick up commonly used words in the movie dialogue, while you have the text book as a reference for grammar and vocab.

I signed up about a month ago and haven't heard anything back from them yet, but they said it'd be gradual.
Cool, thanks! I signed up for it. Hopefully they contact me soon. They said due to the high response they are bringing in new users slowly.

I need to stop being so damn lazy. I need to go out and skate way more because 2 times a week is just not enough.

You need to go out and shred more for sure. But only if you truly have fun skateboarding. Skating with people who clearly aren't into it is a buzzkill

oh yeah for sure, I have not fallen off yet, things are just getting in the way and it is mostly mental right now with meniscus issues kinda setting me back to this thing in my head where I just say "Im gonna rest it some more, I will go tomorrow" even though I really want to that day. I have been in the dumbest funk recently. It also feels fine 98% of the time and skating is rarely an issue.

God damn this is true.  I havent even stepped on my board in 3 weeks.  One big reason is because last time I skated I was so sore for 2 days (due to prior non skating days) and I am on my feet at work for at least 8 hours a day.  When I do get a good day off all I want to do is just sit and be by myself or go get drunk with my friends.  My resolution basically is get threw winter find a new job and onve spring comes skate everyday to finish our local video project.

I haven't been able to pull this off yet. What do you mean she was surprised though? How did it go down?

Well, we were goin' at it no rubber, and when it was time, I just kind of did an awkward knee shuffle up to her face and held it 'til I got there. She was surprised I went for it, but she was kind of stoked, too. We get kind of rough, but I always thought that was sort of off limits. Decided yesterday to stop giving a shit.
