Vans Stage 4 Team Shoe
« on: January 04, 2012, 01:21:30 PM »

Anyone ever try these out?

Introducing VANS WAFFLECUP Construction! The process our Vans SKATE design and development team went through with Gilbert Crockett, Chima Ferguson, Andrew Allen and Chris Pfanner began with a blank slate and resulted in this innovative, ground-up design that fuses VANS ORIGINAL WAFFLE Outsole vulcanization technology with modern cupsole performance. In numerous research and testing sessions skating all terrains, the team kept the focus 100% on function. The result is pure SKATE utility and the introduction of skateboarding?s first-ever vulcanized-cupsole construction platform, the VANS WAFFLECUP.

I actually like the shape of the midtops, but the colors aren't on point comparing to the low tops.

if you wrap the sole.. and vulcanize / cook it.. to the upper. its a vulc shoe. not a cup. their description make no sense.

Im glad Vans is showing Allen some love by giving him a colorway. Andrew allen is one of my favorites and so underrated. Plus his color way is the only one that makes that shoe look good. The mid tops make me wanna puke.

Fuck yea...I ordered these last week in the Allen Colorway.

I'm supposed to get them this Friday - i'll let you fellas know the deal.

Vans are the only sneakers that provide board feel I like besides the Janoski.

I really want to see what the sole actually looks like.

Thought of you once I finally saw this, Ovolar - it was way more of a pain trying to find this sole shot:

Kind of a decent idea - considering how the Vans sole will usually flop out and corrode right at that point on the heel.

The Chima Colorway didn't look too bad either in these pics:

I'm not fully sold on these - they look like a standard vulc shoe but for $70+. I guess it comes down to how it feels and supports when you're skating.

Thanks man. I thought they would do something more drastically different to it. And yeah, the Chima colorway looks good too in my opinion. I wonder if this is going to feel like the sole they used for the AV3? Because that wasn't vulc, but it had the board feel of one. They should bring that shoe back. I would buy so many pairs.

I have a pair coming in the next few days. A sample of fall 12, Chris Pfanner has a low in black/white this time.

Oh shit -  very cool, Clemens. I Always dug your in-depth reviews!

Please post some pics when you receive them - I'm hoping it looks like the Andrew Allen model, but only black (the others don't seem to be as good, and the sole seems chunky and fucked up).

I agree with the posting here - $70 for a van's shoe seems pricey; but i received mine last week, and they feel great.

I have some Janoski's with some life left in them - but these are definitely next.

The support and feel is definitely noticeable - I'm thinking it's a better idea with the Waffle Cup Sole Vs. the "Pro" Classic Models.

The Pro Classics always seemed to lose the board feel with the extras padding; these seem to provide the support but not the board feel either.
