I back this kid's skating, but if you want to read some really cringe-worthy posts, he's been embarrassing himself on skateperception for years.  Example:

Fuck this kid.

Fuck this kid.

this is fucking insane. ISUCK!, I can't believe you choose to pay and support someone with these beliefs.
I am not religious, but I know Christians who hold being a good person as their main responsibility to do good by God in their eyes, but this is just primitive and horrific thinking.
Shame on you, seriously.
I'm in my early 30's and am relatively successful and business savvy. not only is this a poor business choice, it's a poor personal one as well.
There's a saying that goes something like 'you are the company you keep'

Remember when everyone hated Marc Johnson because he always tried to act like he was intellectual when really he just had a bunch of time on his hands to read books on metaphysics and relay how they loosely apply to the world of skateboarding?

i don't care what anyone believes as long as they're not a dick about it. that said, would y'all stop being dicks about a dude's faith? especially when i could post a photo of me with a 666 lip tatoo and there'd be a thread full of stoke. same stick, different end. i mean, if it were a "debate religion" thread, then yeah, we could get heavy into the crusades and killing and neg out, but it's a thread about a person and those kind of attacks aren't cool. no matter what you believe. and for the record, i don't believe shit and i didn't think gipper dissed anyone. god, zombie, prostitute or otherwise.

"josiah rips and also has a questionable presence on social media"...sound familiar? oh yeah, just about every other skater that posts on the internet.

I don't hold anyone's personal beliefs against them as long as they're not pontificating from a self-declared morally superior high ground and telling others what is right. That's crossing the fuckin' line. The dudes yelling "Hail Satan" and acid dropping off of things are just as dumb, but maybe they get more of a pass because it's hard to believe that they're doing it in earnest--I mean, the payoff for them is the reaction of others... But for a sponsored skateboarder, even before getting good tricks on tape, his number one job is as a brand ambassador and public representative of the companies that he rides for. As such, he should absolutely have a filter on what kind of stuff he spews forth into the world. Even if he believes that gay people are all self-selecting "alternative lifestyles," perhaps especially so, he should not say it in a public forum because, beyond being straight up wrong, it's damaging to that skater's personal brand and reflects badly on his employers. Some of the rebukes and vilification here have been pretty thoughtless and unnecessarily harsh (cuz dudes are anonymously ganging up on one guy), but the essential idea is that, yes, the dude should not be behaving that way. It's weird, at the very least.

Young Josiah, maybe read some more books, practice openness and don't post on FB after strokin' it to the Old Testament. You're one sweater vest away from becoming a tre-flippin' Rick Santorum. Skateboarding is about freedom, riding the concrete fuckin' wave of Babylon, not kowtowing to socially conservative constructs and ideologies. Part of the magic of the plank is that it is a subversive activity. We are, with every push, expressing our disdain for the asinine policies created by the establishment. If JC is your personal savior, that's fine with me, but you should not be pushing your beliefs with your public platform, only badass skateboarding. We don't come to this show, the skateboard spectacle to hear what Sammy Baca thinks about Israel or Nick Trapasso thinks about health care reform or anyone's thoughts on creation or human sexuality. No offense to anyone, but I absolutely do not care to hear your opinions on these subjects. I wanna see some fuckin' nollie heels.

For the record, I have nothing but respect for JT and was merely joking before, not trying to outsmart anyone or flame anyone.

And though I hope that no one cares, but my wish is for skateboarding to stay antisocial, weird and evil.
