Krooked/DLX shapes
« on: October 26, 2012, 08:19:57 PM »
I'm trying to buy a new deck and I really want to get back into skating Krooked and DLX because of their durability and I just love supporting a skater owned brand. The thing is, I'm too used to skating really flat decks. Any specific pro models hat are pretty flat, or specific shapes I can ask my local shop? Thanks guys, any responses will be appreciated

I've had a few of the 8.43 shape DLX is doing in a row and it is quite flat.  Its a bit longer than usual too.  I hope they don't blow it and stop making this size...

I would try the 8.48, only problem is I'm a pussy and am still skating 8.18/8.25. Gonna step it up, but it might be awhile.

I've found that Krooked's are flatter than Anti-Hero's and Real's. Just my opinion though.

Hope that helps a little.

Yeah I've noticed that too. My guess is that the Anti-Hero dudes love the concave for their tranny. I know that they are all DLX, but the graphics on Krooked are top notch. Its hard not to get hyped when you have Gonz art on your board

I've skated plenty of DLX boards, of all three brands, especially the 8.18 shape. It's the same board no matter if it 's Anti Hero, Krooked or Real.

Yeah, Krooked and Anti-Hero have better graphics than Real. I always end up buying Reals though cause I can always find my size.

I think I'm just gonna email Deluxe for more info on the shapes. Anybody got Thiebaud's email?

Yeah, the price points are pretty disappointing, I guess that's why they're cheaper but DLX is so good to the local skate rat I think they'll improve them.

Krooked is def the flattest.  Get the Drehobl shape! I think they've switched up the pro model shapes recently but I've had 3 of the drehobl's and really like the shape. Nice and chody and flat at 8.12/8 x sub-32.

I thought the Drehobl's were the 8.38, and don't tranny guys love concave so the boards stays on their feet.

they actually do have superior customer service. but it's most likely not jim t e-mailing all the groms. if you go to their contact section on dlxsf.com you can ask a question and always get a response.

this is, no joke, probably the best shape i've ever skated.. i fucking love the thing. not sure if you like smaller boards, but give that one a look if you can track it down.

second/third/fourth'd the krookeds being flatter, too.. at least from what i've had a chance to try out

Yeah, their customer service is the best and if that fails I could always go to the local shop.

You should be doing that anyway, for fucks sake, GO STAND ON A BOARD BEFORE YOU BUY IT. 90% of this gear thread wouldn't exist.

usually every pro's board will have the same shape, like every bobby board has a pointer nose and tail, I like the shape on the manderson boards 8.25 ones at least.

Let me change it to a Krooked/DLX appreciation thread then.

My local shop doesn't stock many dlx boards, but I've ordered a few Reals online and loved the concave. How do Krooked shapes compare? I ride 8.18, 8.125 or 8.25.

chowder.
