If wheelbite is an issue it sounds like you gotta hit Jim T up for some Ventures and awaken yourself vs. those Thunders. Between Thunders and Aces that are in your videos you have been on trucks that definitely can end up with a lot of wheelbite.
[close]

I never had an issue on 54mm even on forged thunders or super loose AF1’s. I’d sooner switch to a smaller 93 than ride ventures. No shade to venture enjoyers they’re just not for me.
[close]

I like your reviews and content a lot and thought maybe you had reviewed Ventures, but didn't see a video of them. Have you tried them recently? I thought that there was just a ton of hype around them and I hadn't ridden them since the SC days and was pleasantly surprised when I tried them again recently. I can run them effectively looser feeling than Thunders or Indys and still have good stability. Given you have Ace, Thunder, Slappy, and I think Indy (maybe I saw wrong) on the channel that could round out the top tier.
[close]

Hey thanks, dude! I’m just not trying to mess with my WB anymore since I feel like I’ve finally found the sweet spot and tbh I’m just not a fan of the triangle shaped hanger on them. Also they carry a bit of a negative connection for me personally because about a year ago another youtuber who I thought I was cool with started a bunch of drama saying I was biting his style, totally caught me off guard. He had recently switched to ventures and in his DM to me he said something along the lines of “what are you gonna do next, ride ventures?” Lmao. Super dumb but it only solidified me not wanting to ride ventures. That guy sucks. Maybe I’ll give them a shot if they come out with something new but right now I’m looking forward to the new design Thunder is rumored to be working on.
[close]

for me, i conclude that its kevin nicetry. dont want to assume but it sucks that he seems so chill but acts that way towards a fellow youtuber.

Damn, good guess

Dad Boards way cooler than Kevin. No offense (maybe a little offense) but no one is trying to look or skate like Kevin Nicetry. Head in arm pit fake steeze having same tired tricks and spots having mf. I just treated this reply as my personal bunt rapid fire. Fuck it.

I won’t argue any of that, and thank you, dude 🤝
But his accusations were around me biting his videos. I found it funny because for the most part any non pro skate youtuber is basically just making videos about gear and learning tricks or discussing some aspect of skateboarding pertaining to regular people who do it for the love. I was gonna make it a big deal when it happened and put screenshots and shit in a video but decided the situation was too kooky so I just blocked him and moved on. Happy I didn’t make it a thing because I think he expected me to and get him more views. Who fuckin knows.
Word. Kinda went off on him but his aw shucks demeanor always came off phony to me. The youtube space for skating only has so many lanes. Kevin is not unique by any means and that's silly that he thought your stuff bit his. Some people's stuff just come off more genuine and I think yours is one of them. Keep it up.

That shit made me laugh, man. Anyway enough YouTube nonsense back to wheelin. We got a random ass rainy day in the middle of a hot week tomorrow and it’s my day to skate. I’m having an existential crisis over what wheels I’m gonna run at this smooth indoor spot. 93’s legitimately rekindled my wheel madness x10 😰

Bought the 54mm classic shaped 93a's on a whim since I didnt have a classic shaped 97a and figured why not try something new. They are 100% dragonslayers. Rough ground I feel a bounce and cushion with a great slide and still noisy. Smooth park transition I'm flying around and having a wheel that performs like a harder one. No issues on slappies or coping drag. So happy with them, I never got around to dipping my toes into the bones x97 's and don't need to now. These do it all. Gonna just ride them into next winter and we will see how they do at a slippery indoor.

First sesh on the 93 Radial 54 mm's today. Location: smooth concrete park coupled with a crustier street plaza with curbs and ledges.

Amazingly fast on smooth concrete. A bit quieter than a normal hard wheel, but that's no surprise of course. Feels somewhat soft, but not in a bad way. Doesn't have the "woollen sock" feel or the bounce of Dragons.

Goes f*cking great on crustier ground. Just rollin'. The non-stickiness (sic) is amazing, did some 50-50s on a metal ledge and the wheels didn't stick one bit. Boardslides on a concrete ledge were a breeze, no need to wax the top.

Have yet to try powerslides on them, but I'd be surprised if they were an issue.

Won't be needing my Dragons or X97s anymore. Also, kinda looks like I might replace my X99s on crustier spots with these.

In a nutshell, a great wheel.

Couldn't agree more. Already tossed the x97s I was using to a grom, fully committed to the 93a spits. On grinds/slides where the wheels drag, the spits are far superior than dragons/97x formula in my opinion.

While I still think dragons and xformula are very solid wheel choices, the soft sliders are something special and I'm fully bought in. Feeling relieved having solved that portion of my gear madness

I'm sad to read this, but not surprised. Unfortunately the algorithm almost unevitably causes this kind of conflicts and drama to increase visibility and hence, ad revenue for the platform companies. A classic, time tested ploy, pit "working class" ie. the content providers to fight each other and sell the tickets. Dad Board, your stuff is cool, and I'm glad you steered out of it.

Back to wheels, had two completes with me last time I was at a semi-crusty slappy spot, one with 93a Classics, other with well worn 99a Radial Fulls, both 52mm size. I have to admit it felt "home" on 99a, but also I could notice the ground via vibration. I think 93a really saves my old feet a bit from that. Haven't still found any reason to change them out though.

Anybody tried the new 93a's on indoor skatelite yet? I normally skate F4 99's, but it'd be nice to have a wheel that could handle both outdoor crust and slippery indoor parks.

For anyone that spends a lot of time skating flat bars - the 93 F4s will inevitably grab the rail due to it's softness, making any pinched trick potentially stick/slow down. While the wheels were brand new, this wasn't a noticeable issue. But during the second session, they began barking on back feebles. As much as I enjoyed these new formulas, I will stick to 99 F4s for general use and keep the 93s for rough street spots.

I skate at a park built inside of an airplane hanger that has skate light ramps. It’s extra slippery from all of the dust that comes in and the 93’s have been great for not slipping around. They’ve been a confidence booster at that park for sure. Also, not sure if these fuckin bozos who only stopped in the thread to throw shade at me know there’s an ignore button, but go fuck yourselves, I was responding to a question. Little bitches.

Had 93s for few sessions in a dusty indoors park, same statement. Was better than 97s I had before, cannot say if they held speed better or not, but in my opinion slided better on steel coping. Got dozens of slippery bails and nearbys with 99s in that place.

Sadly the ignore function doesn't work like it used to (you would see 'you have this person ignored' and an option to view the post, now with whatever trash change they made it only ignores PMs...so lame.

Hi Dad Board. Im going to have to ask you to knock it off with the gendered insults. My 12 year-old daughter is a huge fan of you, and you ruined her day when she read this on here.

Do better, I expect more from a fellow father.
