Been going back and forth between 54 93s radials and 56 99f4 og classics in the same session at a few spots in the last few days. On the old man note at 43, my feet/arches/ankles don't feel as tight the next day when I only skate the 93s.
Brand new park, Metal ramps on smooth concrete with bad expansion joints, Crusty af asphalt school and an Old park that's starting to get some exposed aggregate in spots
99s bark, I like the sound rolling and love it in a slide. The rougher the ground the worse they carry speed. Pine needles and other debris are more noticeable. Ripples in concrete on the old pool/bowl are noticeable. 99s grip well enough on metal and revert fine. You feel the hit of cracks and metal ramps seams more, did loose a flat bar trick landing directly in a big ass seam.
93s are like floating on a magic carpet. I do hate how quiet they are, but damn I love barely having to push/pump. Even on the brand new park I felt the 93s carried speed better, I had to give less input. They slide great one smooth and rough surfaces. A tad too grippy on metal for me though, reverts on the mini I really had to push a bit. Expansion cracks are just a sound.
Was able to do some manual stuff on divoted concrete and asphalt that might as well be chip seal. I could not do anything on the 99s.
The old man reviews crack me up. Don't get me wrong, I am old and can't wait to try these wheels for the same reasons, but if I was 16 I'd be staying far far away from these geriatric formulas.
The it "saves my back" reviews are for sure a turn off to a 16 year old, but man I would have loved these for crust. I swear there are some flip in things that I would of got at Red Square that just weren't going on 101a. The 93s just roll so smooth over bumps. Get psyched for those spots things just didn't go before, they will now.
