Staring at these ishod lock in classic wheels and I’m trying to understand the void they are trying to fill . Does it just skate like a normal lock in wheel but look more normal?

Someone sell me on why I should set these up and not some normal classic f4 like I normally do .

The Classic outer side profile scoops for certain tricks a bit easier than the normal profile. Also, narrower wheels are preferred by a lot of people for essentially the same reason.

I can see them being good for slappies, classic shape makes them so much easier and the extra lock in would be nice

Are the new Ishod wheels center set or do they sit to one side, eg sit more to the outside of the axle and cover the nut more than sitting inside?

Just curious as stock pics and diagrams are one thing, but real life experience is another thing entirely sometimes.


I have had a set of Lock Ins ages ago that was very much set to cover more of the axle / hanger, but then newer sets I have seen sit out wider and cover less hanger and more over the axle nut and end.

I do. Great wheels, they work just like the other 93s. IIRC you were on the bigger side though, so just keep in mind that taller wheels will inevitably increase wheelbite potential quite a bit.

   Thanks! Yeah, I'm 250lbs and wheelbite is always an issue for me. Will be getting some 1/8" risers to go along with them. I typically ride 54's with no riser and 56's with 1/16".

I’ve been skating 58 mm 93s as my go to wheel for about a year. Above is my normal set up. I also have another pair of 58 mm 93a f4s on a mini cruiser set up board I skate sometimes when the weather is too crumby.

I really like them. Before skating 58 93 radials I skated 58 mm og classic f4s for years. Had a bunch of pairs. I never skated either with risers or anything and they skate good for me. I didn’t lose any particular tricks or anything. I will continue skating 58 mm 93a F4s for the foreseeable future. I hope they eventually make the radial full ones in Simon’s ad in thrasher.

It is weird because there are lots here in Australia, but things take longer to get here and maybe we ended up with more than what might have sold in USA or other places.

I think at first they sold out super fast, but there were limited numbers then, but the latest delivery had plenty.


As to how they skate and feel - people love them, riding them in pool and on vert ramps, for the guys I see and know, but other people also have them set up for all rounders, mainly if they want the softer wheel and then can have the extra size to keep the speed up and have them last a bit longer than smaller wheels.

I first set up the 56 mm 93 duro Radials, but I still might set up a set of the 58 mm wheels too.  Just put some 58 mm 97 duro wheels on a bigger board to feel it out and it goes so well at the session today, but I cut nice deep wheel wells just to be safe with no risers and medium to loose trucks.

  Went to the skatepark with my Daughter this afternoon and had forgotten that she's actually riding the 93a Radials. They were 54's but are definitely worn down a bit. Her setup is very different from mine but I cruised around on it a bit and liked them. She said she absolutely loves them. Gonna cop that set of 58's at Seasons right now.

I am not a chemist or really that much into science for the specific formula, but I would imagine that something that goes into that particular version of the wheels is what is being talked about here.

Besides the basic fact that wheels are polyurethane, there is a lot more to it than that when I did do a little research in hopes of finding out a bit more about it, but the formulas of Spitfire (and Bones) are closely guarded secrets, as they are all in house productions, compared to most of the other more generic wheel manufacturers out there, of which there aren't that many anyway.

Like Brimmo, I’m no chemical engineer, so I can’t say precisely which component is going to become rarer, but the word I got is some component in the 93s also has an application in military industrial uses & I was advised to get a set sooner rather than later if I wanted to re-up, as THAT ingredient is getting snatched up buy the larger (gov’t) contracts.
I wouldn’t bet Muska’s farm on this piece of intel, but linking clues & words, it seems to me there may be a chance my sources say sooth that’s the truth.

Its not a secret that I ride a good deal of DLX wood & roll Spitfires almost exclusively: I will gladly sing the praises of San Francisco’s “home team” because that’s our local squad & they also happen to make the best shit out there.
Add to that their activism on behalf of ALL SORTS of skaters everywhere & I don’t even feel the need to be covert about my support of their product.

Now if only those new Thunder T-2s will tick off the right boxes for me, I too can get up on one of these ALL DLX set-ups.
Sticking w/ Ace, Indy & Lurps until then though.
