did it ever occur to anyone that maybe these dudes knew that cuts were coming and decided to step down?  they're obviously all still homies; maybe they just realized that they aren't on that level anymore and want to give some new guys a shot.

This.

People are acting that being knocked from pro position on Baker involves Drew taking you out to the desert, making you dig your own grave, and then shooting you. Baker just can't have 43 pros on the team.

It seems odd to me that Jeff Lenoce just put out the best part in his career in the Shake Junt video last year and now he isn't pro anymore.

Am I the only one who finds Heyl and his "every time the camera is on me I will pretend I am a gangster" act really annoying?

Only sheltered 12 year old white kids would consider anything Shane Heyl does on camera "gangster".

I'll change that to putting on lame voices and acting like a knob every time he is on camera.

I agree but is Lenoce your favorite pro? Probably not. I'd guess Baker's target demographic head more towards the Reynolds/Herman decks while Lenoce isn't moving much in comparison. Friends and business are two separate things. Truth is if you really want a pro/company to get what they deserve then buy their shit. If you want Lenoce to have a pro model or a smaller board company to survive than put your money where your mouth is and if you don't then you have no room to complain.

Although these drops don't surprise me the fact that Daniel Castillo is still PRO after a 2 trick line in pretty sweet and are 2 tricks he does in every single one of his video parts that anybody can do is the real mind boggler.

Give it time. I am sure a lot of companies are going to cut skaters soon. Daniel will be working at the Girl warehouse in no time.

I thought of Goodfells and laughed so hard at this. Maybe he will be like Joe Pesci who they strung along making him think he had it made and then get back stabbed by the other made guy's over at Girl.

I actually was thinking that when I typed it up, glad someone caught that. I have no idea what demographic market Lil' Daniel sells to. Maybe tiny Filipino boiz? I wonder how many boards of his are pressed and what his royalty checks look like.

All i know is that i remember somebody posted every daniel clip ever on youtube and it equaled to no more than 10 min. Even after pretty sweet its still 10 min. I'm not trying to bitch or hate but it sucks seeing certain ams and pros bust their ass off as a skater and still cant get into the top brands and we have other ppl taking advantage of it and milking such an opportunity for soo long. I believe their is more footage of Daniel taking stuff form the girl warehouse then there is of him skating. Just saying.

No. No one walks away willing from getting a paycheck. Especially if you're at the end of your career. You all are foolish as fuck if you think that's how it goes down.

you must not know a whole lot about the history of professional skateboarding.  there are tons of pros who chose to bow out gracefully rather than milk it.

For one, I can't front 3 stalefish so I wouldn't say anyone can do castillos tricks. Second, baker ain't shit compared to girl in terms of revenue or worldwide exposure. They can easily afford to pay Castillo 4k a month plus royalties just to be a brand ambassador and go chill with kids.

its not that simple though. lets say one loves lenoce, but can only ride an 8 inch board, and lenoce always gets stuck with the odd sizes that no one buys, then since no one buys them, they put his board out less, and then due to lack of sales, he gets kicked off.

this is VERY common in the skate industry and has been discussed millions of times.

i for one would like to see a small team brand with no pro models only team models whose royalties were split equally among the riders of said team. i wonder if that would work.

however, in retrospect, everything about skating is short lived: companies, spots, careers, etc.    Entropy man, Entropy.

i shutter to think what skateboarding companies will be in the future. someone said something in the P-Rod mtn dew thread about a future where we reminisce about the time corpo's changed skating. a harrowing thought indeed.

i dont necessarily see it as him taking advantage or milking it. im sure hed love more coverage but probably has zero influence and his skating is obviously not marketable. kid gets a ton of hate but if anything ppl should be questioning mgmt, not daniel. i think its funny they keep paying him and printing boards for a clip every 5 yrs or so. he should too

Although it is absolutely true that those 4 dudes no longer have boards, that ad is totally fake. Google Image search any of there names and those are like the first pictures that come up.

In the new Weekend Buzz with Ellington & Heyl.  Heyl states that he offered to lose his model, to give the other new jacks a chance to shine.  I don't believe that for a second.

I like Braydon.  He may not be the most technically gifted rider, but his style is rad.  I will miss him on Baker.  Hopefully he will get picked up.

This is the unfortunate reality of Skateboard economics.

I do not envy the decisions Andrew has to make.
