I think it's a combo of things.  First, he skates well, no doubt about it.  But you're right, I don't think he's had an actual part in anything.  Secondly, I think it's marketability.  Companies look for guys they can turn into their image/product.  He fits the the mold that a lot of companies are going for these days with their teams: slicked hair, plain shirt, flood pants, etc.  Seems like everyone wants that timeless Stereo-era Ethan Fowler look (but we all know there's only one Ethan).  Sometimes I wonder if that's really what the dudes are all about or if it's a company pulling the strings.  Like, here's your big contract with the terms we agreed on and we expect you to portray this certain image we have laid out for you in our plans.  Heck, Jamie Thomas has transformed guys to his brand image- most notably, Chris Cole.  Remember when he was on World?  Big, baggy pants, wiener haircut, puffy shoes, etc.  Who knows, fellas.

Usually guys get sponsored and become ams and while am put out a video part. He's an incredibly good skater whose sponsors think highly of and is not yet pro - its called am, something all skaters are at one point who are really gifted and moving on to the pro ranks eventually.

Im confused how its controversial that this kid is an am for a big company.

His dad owns the pawnshop skateshop so that probably dosent hurt , but in saying that he does rip . and if your a team manager are you going to invest more time and money into a 30 year old danny funzeleda or clarke hassler or a 16 year old donovan whom most likely has not even scratched the surface on how good he is going to be. and it not just because he is a snappy dresser he probably did well in those damn am comps and tampa am as a real young kid and thats how he got on zero and vans . tm's often pick up guys from comps regardless of there placing or whatever , i remember someone involved with think , lucky and venture saying thats where they found and sponsored russ milligan at a tampa am

I knew there was something behind the scenes that got him on which isn't to disregard his talent at all because it's pretty obvious he fucking rips. Sean Pablo isn't touching anything on this run even if they look exactly the same aesthetic wise.
