Weird feeling tails?
« on: February 04, 2014, 06:59:16 AM »
Currently skating a local shop deck and it's the weirdest feeling board I've had in a while. It's kinda hard to explain, but the mounting holes for the back truck seems like its closer to the center of the board than it should be, so there's a big space of flat area between the back of the baseplate on the back truck and the tail. I'm not sure if i explained that right or not, but I hope you guys get what I'm saying. It makes popping tricks feel really weird on the tail. The tail has no resistance time at all when popping tricks, it hits the ground way too quick, a little too quick of a response for my tastes. Shit feels super weird. The nose feels normal, it's just the tail that's off. I can still skate fine with it, the tail just feels super off to me because of how quick it hits the ground. Seriously contemplating switching out to a new board, but for now Im gonna try to rough it out since I just got this deck a few days ago. Anyone ever have a similar problem like this?

shorter wheelbase.. you'll get used to it. worst case scenario, chop it up and use it as a cruiser

Throw some 1/4" risers on there and you'll probably feel closer to normal.  I had the same problem and that seemed to do the trick.  Tail was mellow and had that same kind of space between where the tail starts kicking and the rear most mounting holes.

I always hated the snubb nose/ pointy tailed shapes. Marc Johnson chocolates, a few traffics, and instruments seem to have great tails.
