anytime MJ opens his mouth in the past few years there's a ready chorus of "he thinks he's smarter than he is"- the first time Watson made that observation it was at least somewhat original (though still petty and false imo), but now it's just predictable and reactionary. I prefer Marc's fictional rants about being abducted as a child, but hopefully I'll never be jaded enough to fault someone for that there "smart talk"

he prolly is smarter than most of us.

No.

What a stupid old bastard. While I was learning about oppressed people's literature and finger fucking he was gaining some kind of life experience. Fuck him!

1.) sitting in front of a fire place - youre a skateboarder you pretentious prick and you live in california, grow a pair
2.) dancing around the fact that you own and operate a company by calling it a "project" while showing your shitty shirts for the cost of 26 dollars is fucking hilarious. you see a niche in the market and know your minions will buy your stupid bullshit tshirts .. just own it
3.) saying how everyone is copying everyone and no one is original yet you blatantly stole half of the tricks you filmed in fully flared and are somehow passing them off as your own by saying you were paying respect or it was a tribute to the skaters who did them first is exactly what everyone who copies someones style is doing no better no worse.. get a grip and just shut up and skate

Haha, weak attempt at dissing one of the most successful pros of all time. Guess what all that typing got you? Nothing. Guess what Marc Johnson's skating got him? Everything.

I get what Marc Johnson is saying in these interviews. A lot about the current state of the skateboard industry is annoying to him. He has earned the right to say whatever the hell he wants.

But I also enjoy that he's annoying so many people here. If he is annoying you it's likely he is talking specifically about you and that makes you uncomfortable. That makes me an even bigger MJ fan. I was reading some threads here on Slap from about 6 months ago when MJ was everyone's idol and hero, and Ty Evans was an evil force for holding secret MJ footage hostage. People were falling all over themselves barfing out superlatives in expression of their love and gratitude for Marc Johnson. He was King.

Fast forward 6 months to now and a lot of those same people are telling him to shut up. Fickle and disposable this audience...and ironically, that's everything MJ just nailed about skateboarders. So it's really no wonder he is annoying some of you.

Whether I agree or not it's always interesting when someone controversial puts themselves out there and ruffles everyone's feathers.
I'd say he earned the right.

I love the fuck out of MJ & he drops a lot of wisdom in this interview. I hope he continues this interview roll he's on cause I dig where his head's at these days. Getting sober did that dude a world of good.

Having said that (& knowing I'll likely always be down with any project Marc's involved in), it is interesting to me how pros suddenly get very concerned about the integrity of "Skateboarding" or "skate culture" once they get to the "start your own company" stage of things. They're trying to get a piece of the culture right at the point that it's beginning to pass them by - tricky stuff.

It wasnt an attempt to diss him and the three minutes it took me to type that got me nothing except to express my point of view on the subject ..which is the whole point of a forum to begin with you fucking moron
