One of my all time favorites, consistently putting out great footage and amazing interviews over the years.
I'll start with the back 5-0 from Beware the Flare starting at 0:49

Fuck Yes. The two tilt mode vhs's fell apart from watching them so many times. Marc Johnson has one of the most interesting and unique styles in skateboarding. His part in Modus and of course his fully flared part are in a category of their own

After a Girl Chocolate demo in 2006, Marc put on a fresh white "no pictures allowed" tee for the autograph signing. The kid right in front of me spills marc's full red powerade all over his new shirt as he was giving him a poster to sign. Marc flips and will only sign dude's poster if he finds some napkins. He wrote "less talking more skating" on my shirt, not sure why cuz i was to shy to say anything around them. Same demo Biebel slapped the shit out of a kid who stole the board toss deck. I was surprised by that

Wasn't this during Marc's shitfaced days? As a fellow alchy, no one likes losing 200 to 400ml of vodka in u've put in your otherwise 2 dollar drink.

It was in 2006 so it was during fully flared filming, and that's when he said he became an alcoholic so yes. But I doubt there was vodka in it. I can't imagine signing autographs for hours and hours. I could see it being fun talking to people and answering weird questions but miserable at the same time signing your name thousands of times.

Probably my favorite MJ part. His run from about 2003 to 2007 was absolutely ridiculous. As anyone even approached putting out 20 to 25 minutes of insane footage over just a 4 to 5 year period? I know it was only 3 parts, but the Fully Flared part was closer to 3 actual parts than 1.

Maybe he was being ironic. You should look into it, irony is our best insulation from the horrors of the world

he was about the best there was for his time. pj might have been more tech but so less prolific. it's too bad everyone bullied him into seclusion.

those were really good. does anyone remember a marc johnson checkout where the author goes "marc is gripping his board at the shop and a girl with her boyfriend is all 'nice grip'" or something and mj knocks her out then knocks her boyfriend out for intervening? it was crazy and i wasn't sure if it had any bearing in reality or creative writing.
would have been when he was up and coming, maybe 93-94?

For a very long time, I watched Marc's 7 Steps part, and only that part, while eating a meal before my afternoon/evening skate sessions. Probably more than any other part to get myself stoked.

Can't have the MJ apreesh on the 3rd page with Mike V threads on 1 and 2.

Rooting for a redemption arc here. I felt MJ was heading towards a Guy Mariano style 3rd act of top tier low impact skating and then just totally disappeared. I bought some B & C stuff with no issues, the Flower Eyes shaped deck was one of the best cruiser shapes ever. Super sucks he grifted his fellow man. Still rootin' for ya Marc.

Bumping Jerry and MJ to the top here.

Enjoi MJ era was everything to me as a kid. Rockin’ with this one. There’s a few MJ Enjois I would love to have, but this’ll do.

I’ve said it before in other threads, but the Mike Carroll Jenkem interview was kind of messed up in hindsight
