Honesty Skateboards
« on: July 09, 2014, 07:35:08 AM »
www.honestyskateboarding.com

We have a working website finally. We've been around since 05', but you probably never heard of us. Oh and we try to keep our prices as low as we can. We will always have some going for $25 on our bigcartel shop. Skater owned etc... etc... Not trying to spam anyone, advertising sucks. If you're down to support us, that would be cool.

Honesty is not always the best  policy.

Also,  post this in the shoes and gear section.

Finally,  what kind of a name is honesty?  Fuck,  you make selfish sound cutting edge.

Honestly you not supporting a team is interesting.  Honestly why should my shops care that u exist.  Honestly the black and white theme was tried by mystery.  Honestly why are you in skateboarding.  Have you honestly thought of any of this.  I look forward to your honest response

We do have a team. I need to update that part of the site.

As for the rest we are in skateboarding to provide good decks to kids with lower budgets. I started skating in 1987 and when I would break a board I would go 6+months with out being able to get a new one. You can't progress like that. As far as hurting the industry with low prices, that isn't why I'm in it.

it looks like you drew on a blank board with a sharpie.

chances are you had this in the works for a few months, you didnt think to start up a slap account BEFORE you drop your product and plug it to try and establish some kind of credibility?

so youre bad at marketing, youre graphics are bad.

you should redeem yourself by indicating which wood shop in mexico you use to press your boards, if someone sees that they can get boards that are made in a wood shop that they like for $25, $38, $45 etc they may give it a shot.

change your website too, its awful. like it looks like someone drew on their middle school language arts paper bag book cover with a pencil. its like you looked at the skateboard industry and saw what is currently working for other companies and did the complete opposite. a graphics program will go a long way in place of your hand drawn pencil sharpie designs.

the first thing i thought when i saw that was a hand drawn rip off of an old alien workshop owl graphic from way back when, thats why i didnt acknowledge it as being as nice as an original concept. it just looks way too similar.

usually i never fuck up my your's, so cut me some slack on this one :P

I think the name's boring, but other than that I dig it. I like the graphics, and the your whole "keeping it affordable for the kids" thing I can appreciate. Don't know why everyone's hating so hard.

The contact page makes you come off like real assholes, basically saying 'we're not interested in you and we don't care what you think, only contact us if you want to buy or sell our shit.'

Be honest here:

Who are you?
Where are you based out of?
Half-decent small brands are closely integrated into their local skate community, what do you do for yours?
Why should someone bypass their local shop and buy a skateboard from you? How would that benefit skateboarding as a whole?

Seriously, maybe people might want to support a brand if they knew something about it, and for reasons beyond price undercutting.

Be honest here:

Who are you?
Just some regular dudes (and a couple ladies) that skate.

Where are you based out of?
Our headquarters is in the boonies, in central TX.

Half-decent small brands are closely integrated into their local skate community, what do you do for yours?
We sponsor local kids, give out free boards, send product to contests, etc... we are trying to raise funds to build a park in our community. We will be starting a kickstarter for it soon.

Why should someone bypass their local shop and buy a skateboard from you? How would that benefit skateboarding as a whole?
We aren't trying to get people to bypass their local shop, just be an alternative. Not every town has a shop, or if they do not all of them care about the scene, and charge way too much. We do business in the local shops in the cities near by, if they are down for their scene, and urge the kids to go there.

Seriously, maybe people might want to support a brand if they knew something about it, and for reasons beyond price undercutting.

We hear everyone about our site, we tried paying a dude to build it but he kept dicking us aroung and we spent way to much on it. I tried to do it myself, and as you can see I don't know anything about web design. Also, we are moving to bigger boards, we do have 8.38's and 8.25's out now and should have some 8.6 soon. We made the small boards as we have a couple team riders that prefer that size. We appreciate all the positive and negative feedback.

dont listen to these assholes, small boards still sell. just because a bunch of losers on a message board that dont flip their boards ever buy one big board every 6-12 months doesnt mean that your company will go under if you carry only small boards.

i challenge anyone whos being encouraging, especially the asshole with one or two posts (coincidentally enough) to have one of these boards in the post your set up thread, i fucking dare you.

why is this dude getting so much bullshit for starting what seems like a very innocently ignorant skateboard company? because he did the exact opposite of what October did with Heavy. now he had us on one for a while before he started trying to peddle his shit, and he had a legit site with good quality graphics even if they made me throw up in my mouth at times with good sizes. bottom line is you cant just come here without contributing to the community and try to peddle your shit and take advantage of it.

yikes..  knowing your product is sub par and making excuses for it is not the best way to get people to buy your product.

"Made from 100% Rock Hard Canadian Maple! Designed in TX, made in Mexico. Not saying this will make you ollie higher, but the ladies will like you more. (Or the dudes if that's your bag)

Unfortunate for us the heat transfer wasn't up to our standard. The deck is still high quality, but the graphic is a bit pixelated. Lucky for you this means a permanent discount. The graphic will be rereleased in the near future."
