I rode quite a few sets of Prizefighter Cutlery Wheels in 2011. Those were so good.

Those dueling dragons look nice. Also looks like a classic with a wider contact patch. I just wish they was 54mm. I wonder if he could make them larger in that shape.

Also for all the people that want green venture bushings this may be the ticket for the green bushings.

Lol some BMXer came up to me at the park a few months ago and had that whole Caramel setup... I've posted about that a few times though.

So as to not spam this thread I did set up some new wheels today. 54 mm SML Mike Arnold Big Wave Vcut conical. I like them a lot better than my 56 f4 conical fulls actually. They feel very similar but just different and smaller enough to make a difference and clean up a lot of my flat ground tricks.

Good to see you post my dude @Steely Daniel .

Been riding the 53mm AG Formula Classics for a few months and I've got zero complaints, no coning but they've started to widen out with wear. Got a load of them on clearance so I'm stocked for the next few years, and they make great presents for homies birthdays.

Really appreciate you guys supporting Sml.!! Glad to hear the feedback from the uber product people of SLAP. Been a rough year and a half but we're still small enough (pun intended) to navigate the slow down.

Makes me wonder if they are axing 99a STFs. I'm still salty about how much worse the "dirty birds" were than the bleached white ones. No idea why they made that move

Just saw bones post about the x99s in a v6 shape. That v6 looks line a wider v5. Less like a conical and more like a classic. So it sounds awesome. I just hope the x99s slide as good as spits but don’t feel icy and I’ll be sold.

Unpopular opinion. Bones has better shapes than spits. But spits urethane is better.

Fear of continued dwindling marketshare to spit is the only reason I could see...color aside, those bleached white Easy Street wheels were soooooo good, so much better than the current 99a stfs formula.

The advent of Dirty birds changes the entirely of the bones line (except spfs for some reason).

If those easy streets were still made it's all I'd ride (currently running x97)

PP marketing is garbage these days, catering only to old heads....the new blood team...well we all know that roster to some extent but they're just not heavy hitters like bigger teams with bigger pros (I think Alves is underrated)....They've got Dan and Andy right....RIGHT?

agreeing with this & from my perspective spitfire's marketing feels like they are selling you a tool/part vs PP's feels like they are selling you a lifestyle, which is fine but not my thing

Drew is a known tinkerer and experimenter with product so I would not be surprised if he does buy Bones wheels but that is super duper uncool for Bones to put him on blast on their IG like that unless he's already left Spitfire or they aren't referring to Drew

Op, you ok man? Being real here, you doin alright?

And Koston was still on Indy...

Nah jokes aside, going back over Boss clips and the funny thing is they do look a lot like Bones wheels in a lot of those clips so who knows?!?

Either way, I know the Spitfire > Bones or Bones > Spitfire conversation could go on a whole lot longer than it needs, but they are both top wheels.

I just prefer Spitfire and that's fine with me.

Hey, how are them Spitfire 80HD wheels? Compared to e.g. Super Juices or similar? Been meaning to set up my old 9" pool shape as a cruiser and frankly I have no idea where to begin with wheels. The streets here are mainly crusty asphalt.

80Hds are a soft wheel that are shaped and feel a bit more like regular street wheel. They had some issues but apparently the new versions are good. I personally really like the way they look and feel. You can skate them a bit more like a regular wheel. OJs are rad cruiser wheels and will probably roll over really terrible ground better but are less conducive to doing other stuff. Just my humble opinion.

I don't think the 80HDs will slide at all but I have not ever ridden them so I cant confirm. I ride the Super Juice minis atm and they are fast af and roll over anything but have zero slide. They also feel hefty because they're so wide but I got used to it fast and can pop some flips too. I believe the Spits will be much easier for flips.

Short story regarding SkateOne’s amazing customer service:

I emailed them about my 60mm dragons that have insane bearing slippage and they got back to me immediately, requested a video and after some quick back and forth they sent me a new set all the way from cali that got here in two days. They were definitely different than the original set. No tread this time, more natural colored and felt bouncier and softer. Fucking amazing wheels man, in that size and OG Rat Bones shape they blast through even the roughest pavement. Unfortunately the slippage is still happening but not as bad as the first set. If they had plastic cores they would be unbeatable. The amount of speed they keep for being so soft is crazy.

Have you tried degreasing the outside of your bearings and the bearing seat? That might be the real problem

I had the same issue with both 52mm Dragons and 55mm V5 X-Formula 97a -- the inner bearings on my toe-side wheels would slip causing the wheel to seize up.  I gave up and went back to Spitfire 97a. Never had this issue with any other wheels I've skated.

To be fair this issue has happened with a few different wheels in softer durometers of different companies but by far the bones dragons were insanely bad. Almost completely coming out of the wheel just from powersliding real quick or fs slashing coping. Slappies were a nightmare. And yeah, I tried every solution imaginable. Seems like plastic cores or harder wheels are the only solution. But both aren’t as desirable for me these days.

I need to find someone with a lathe.
I have 2 prototype sets of the dragons in 90a and 93a with cores, but the wheels are a bit too wide. If I could shave them off a bit they’d be perfect for some of the streets and older parks here in Japan

An angle grinder has less quality control but is way easier to use and more readily available.

Not for everyone, I would be the first to admit, but a little practice on other wheels or even just taking it slow and not going too hard and it usually works well, especially more for sidewall shaping, rather than anything else.
