Polar 92! jeans
Simple S1 shoes
187 Knee gaskets

pretty nice haul

So the simple shoes seem like they’ll fall apart after one session? Also how’s the fit? Narrow?

They’re actually pretty wide, so far pretty comfortable out of the box. I’ve skated them just on flat for 2 short sessions and they feel ok, the sole is definitely thicker than my usual skate shoes and super grippy so that’s taking some time to adjust to. I’ve been posting in the simple shoes thread so will probably update after I have some heavier skating in them

Gonna ride my current setup as long as possible (evil twin on Royals), but when the time comes I'm refreshing it with this:

Mega hyped on the F4 AVE wheels
Also got all silver Almost bolts
Bones Hard black
New indy nuts
Built in bearings

David Gravette Creature 8.35, 32 long, with a 14.5 wb, and an ugly tentacle monster graphic. Looks like an end boss from an arcade shoot em up.

Digging it going down from an 8.5. 149 indys still feel good on it. The tail feels super steep to me but in a good way compared to my mushy old consolidated board lol. Haven't had a new deck in a long while and for $110 CAD at the local shop, I remember why. It's not even like I'm that core of a skater I just can't buy a deck sight unseen online without really scoping out the shape. Would it be a safe bet to blindly buy any NHS or at least Creature deck from 8.35 to 8.5 in the future if I'm enjoying this shape?

The Gravette 8.3 is always the same...the other 8.3s out of creature/SC are not the same; same goes for the 8.5s as they have two in rotation.

Love the old (?) 8.375 Polar shape.

Flight 8.75 venture hollows and tons of discounted stf 53s.  Also got the dragons 52s which you've all hashed out urselves by now and don't need to be swayed.  I'm happy they are selling so's that I can have more to buy in the future.  My attitude with bones is G man came up with the concept and reality of premium formula and if he did not you wouldn't have your F4s.  I have to support him based on that he fuckin bothered, ya know.  Also the "burn with the cool smoker dudes" has always insulted me slightly.   On a side note, does any one remember the wheel company that predated Spits?  B4 it was Spitfire it had another name and the ads/art definitely was undeniably cool tbf. They did half page ads in Kev thatcher Thrasher and had a logo which eventually morphed into the spinny thing Spit has. (not the dumb head tho).

Pre 1987 might be a tall order, but someone here could find it.  Not me, even though I was skating then, I had no idea and don't collect magazines or things from back then.

If you had time, I recall Thrasher was putting up all their old mags in an online archive, or at least saw them all online a while back, had a quick scroll through some but didn't really take much time with them.

The swirl is so much better than the big head too.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Right on, I remember it having a 1930s or 40s SF vibe to the art.  It really struck me at the time.  (Edit yah not pre 87 I don't think)

after batting between trying new trucks or just getting hollow aces i’ve made my decision. got some ace 55 hollows off parade. Super excited to try em out! probably going to pair em with an 8.3 polar or an 8.5 one :)

Those 55 mm F4 classics have served me well for the past six or seven months.  Once they hit about 52 mm’s they’re the perfect shape - some sort of conical/radial hybrid.

I picked up some 55 hollows a couple weeks ago and threw em on a Polar 8.5”. I think you’ll dig it, I’ve been rotating that with a Manderson with af1 44s as my daily drivers

Polar makes some good shapes for sure

I’ve ridden the polar ace combo before so i’m already expecting great results. How’s the Manderson shape? Been interested in it. Is it more of a full shape/feel like an 8.5 or is it closer to a true 8.3?

The 78a Clouds are mad fun and smooth. But I haven't been able to get a powerslide with them yet and I am not sure it is even possible. Maybe on wet ground?

Manderson I’d say is probably 8.4”. It feels smaller and little easier to flick than my Polar 8.5”.

I really dig af1s on the Manderson but all I ride these days is ace haha. The blunt kicks, squarish nose and tail, good concave are why I like the shape so much. I usually buy 1-2 each krooked drop.

I think you’d dig it if you like the Polar 8.5” and ace combo.

I had that shape as a Guy deck and it's the BBS generic 8.38 but on the mellower side of the press. April seems to have the mellowest generics, Sci-Fi the steepest.

Sorry for the late reply- been out with covid the last few days and didn't see the post/ forgot to reply even though i caught it on the mellower side!
yeah i heard pals talkin on here about cruiser wheels that powerslide and vaguely remember  ricta clouds come up but maybe in harder durometer since they got 86 and 92s too?

If ai can get back out this week ima have to try to powerslide some on them i guess but i don't get my hopes up too much- still great wheels!
