:-X

The fuckin Ave shoe is dying.

Mad holes the frickin Ollie guard is too low.

Tomorrow I'm going to slather it in shoe goo and hope they last till the first of next month

Damn

If you want long lasting shoes then modern Vans are not too high on the list. They might outlast LR or Cons vulcs, but they're just not durable. I'm not hard on shoes and I'll get a month out of a pair tops.

The 440 sole wears kinda faster than ideal but I think that's an update for V2. The nice thing about them is the lows are always on sale. I went through the mental gymnastics of them not matching the aesthetics of what I would normally wear but after my first pair and how much better my joints felt I really stopped caring.

Which shapes did you get?

If they sell shovel nose / FA shapes that aren't overly steep this could be interesting, off the catalog looks like the 8.0 - 8.5 will be the standard BBS dimensions / shapes.
Venture Truck Height:

5.0 & 5.2 LO
STANDARD - 1.88” - 47.75mm
FORGED - 1.85”- 46.99mm

5.0 ,5.2, 5.6, 5.8 & 6.1 HI
STANDARD - 2.09” - 53.09mm
FORGED - 2.04” - 51.82m

Grabbed the jimmy Wilkins race car board. Its 7.78 and 32.5, I think. A little skinnier and longer than I usually ride. Haven’t set it up for some reason, just doesn’t give me the warm and fuzzies.

The 8.78 width, as in almost 9" wide board?

Only asking to clarify as there was a small version released too, for those who like the guy but only ride small boards.

On the bigger board, I was curious how the tail looked and felt, but with a 15 or something wheelbase on 32.5 I thought it would be a bit short compared to others of similar length but way shorter wheelbases.

Guessing it adds up ok when you look at it or stand on it though?

*  Went and found this:

https://www.tactics.com/real/wilkins-racer-886-skateboard-deck

SIZE   8.86
CENTER WIDTH (IN):   8.86
LENGTH (IN):   32.61
WHEELBASE (IN):   15.0
NOSE (IN):   7.0
TAIL (IN):   6.5

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Grabbed this during the cowtown sale - been on a palace Austin Bristow video binge and Charlie birch is fucked up good. 8.5 32ish 14.5wb lovely full nose and a stubby tapered tail. Kinda reminds me of an anti hero shape I had back in the day.

Had a tactics coupon and scooped up a pair of ace classic 55s for my shaped board. It’s 9.25 at the widest, but a tad under 9 on the tail holes and 9 on the dot up front. I’m stoked because I’ve wasted to try aces for a few years but always copped out and bought Indy
that would be crazy if your skin was made of hammers.

Got a pair of Lakai Cambridges. Needed a break from stiff cupsoles. Felt broken in from the jump, which is nice. They also feel like they will last two weeks.

yo…how flat are talking?

i am on a glue 8.125 and i really like the shape. it’s flat, could be flatter.
the other board i ride is an 8.06 true fit, not flat. not really a fan, cuz it’s steeper, and just…i know bbs makes ‘better’ (longer lasting) boards, but it just doesn’t feel nice, and the pop is decent at best. 360 flips are a saving grace of the truefit

Worked 14 hours Sunday and told myself if I got over $100 at my second job I’d treat myself to some Ace 55s for my shaped 9.25”. So I got that coming in the mail. Stoked to try Ace finally.

The black baseplate and raw hanger look incredible. This is making me want to strip/paint the spare af-1s I've got

It's pretty damn flat. Like that was the first thing I noticed and the reason I bought it. It is a 7.75 so I don't know if that makes a difference.  Here's the true fit on top and the glue on bottom

That is interesting to see.

I copied it to the Woodshop thread too, as a reference.

Thanks for the pics of the angle of the kicks on the boards.

nice! how much was it? thats the main thing that has held me back from getting one is the price. i dont change wheels and bearings often but i do have a set of quantum isotopes that i should be more careful with when changing wheels.

It was freaking expensive, 100 Swiss francs which is roughly 100 bucks. I have Quantum Fusions and need to clean at least one wheel after literally every session to keep them going so I had to get it. Now I am stoked to clean the bearings on all my set up, can‘t wait for them to seize up lol

A great investment. Ive had mine for about 5 years and use it all the time. Itll make you more likely to clean your bearings, also makes me feel good knowing theyre pressed in much straighter than i could do with my hands.
