I was under the impression crail had moved all board production to China. Are they going to BBS now?

Yes, they did. nearly 20 years ago. Now they are rolling out a bunch of BBS boards.

Ahh that’s interesting to know.

Will there be any clear indication as to what board if made where?

People have said they changed a few times, from where ever they were first getting them made to a different woodshop, then a different one again, all in China for how ever long it has been.

I think it is a direct result of anything from China being heavily taxed, so even though prices of BBS boards have gone up a little, it is nothing on tariff excesses.

As to the differences, every board should have a "MADE IN..." sticker, or at the very least, BBS have a "Made in Mexico" sticker, so if you can't see in person, I would be asking the shop first if you are not sure, or need to know.

They both still seem to have the shape and dimensions on them, as well as other information, but as I have only seen pics, I don't know how much other info might be on the board itself or on stickers or packaging.

I don't usually look much in to the Crail boards, but from their site, that is the 8.125 x 31.625 and there are only two shape options in the 8.125 size board, so that is where I would start, not so much searching for G023 but more for any Girl or Chocolate deck in 8.125 and especially any Malto deck in 8.125 as that is his shape, as it says on the shape listing.

There are quite a few that come up in AU, but that is more so my own region, but you could try that in your own region and see what comes up from that.

New CCS print catalogue lists a Chocolate Aikens Square Loveseat+ 9" I don't see it online yet

Shoplurker shows one at Holistic and there's one at 3rd Lair I didn't do a robust search but just what turned up with a quick look

I just got one of the Mouse decks and it has a Made In Mexico sticker on it so I’m assuming it’s BBS. I got it as a wall hanger but I’ll be getting a crail BBS deck next time I need one.

Looks like with the latest drop they have hit just about all of their shapes with BBS.  I also saw a Rick Howard reissue 9 x 32 x 14.25 called the G090.  I believe this is a new one - I don't recall seeing it previously.

There’s a Simon Bannerot one from the “Metalls” series. G060. I snagged one from Select in Houston over the weekend, but it’s still in stock online.

@Gray Imp Sausage Metal
I tried looking for Japanese shops with it but couldn’t find any. Hopefully, one of your locals has it.

The 8.4 and 8.5 shapes with 14.25 WB are incredibly close to their DLX counterparts, but unfortunately you're often stuck with a James Capps graphic.

Confirmed in the WBSWB thread (and in my hands, the one I just received) that this G090 deck is BBS on standard BBS concave. I was bummed when I received it. I liked the flat, epoxy resin chinese crail decks and always wanted a wider popsicle with a shorter wheelbase from them.

I would say that the concave is not girl OG by any means. It’s pretty much middle of the road BBS. I was actually happily surprised because I normally like PS Stix concave and Howard is pretty close. The roundness of the nose and tail is what makes this deck.

I don’t think this is a ‘girl’ deck per say but I can’t wait skate it.

I got a g096 deck on the bbs wood  and stacked it with a primitive 8.25 and they are the same concave/ mold. It’s been mentioned on here that primitive and April use a mellower concave than some other BBs made boards so it’s good news to me as I like that concave.

I was coming off a g033 on the china wood and the bbs has more concave than the china board. The china board is very flat like a mini logo.  And the nose/tail angles were a few degrees steeper than the China, bbs is 21-22 degrees while china is 18-19.

Pop angle was the exact same for both girl decks, china and bbs. The BBs has longer tail so even though china tail is less steep it’s shorter and they both came in at 34 degrees which I like.

I had a great first session on the BBs and I wonder if they will ever go back and do decks with clothe Chinese factory again as I really like those decks too.

the pgi boards had some advantages. i had some that were very very good.
the china made decks are heavy, stiff, as you noted, and to me felt kinda dead. last forever, and very consistent tho.

I guess it all comes down to what people are used to riding.

Some other woodshops that have changed over the years were also met with the same lack of enthusiasm when they went to a different woodshop, for better or worse, but that depended on whether or not the person liked that wood.

Given there are so many factors, the least of all being that the single press boards are the same every single time, it is still something that can easily put people off side, when they get half a dozen of the same board, some are too steep, some are too mellow and some are just right - a bit of a lucky dip really, as per a good number I have of the same exact decks from BBS.

On the other hand, certain concaves or molds just don't work for some people too, so maybe more so for those people who are very used to the concaves and molds of the previous woodshop that they used, changing to BBS can feel very different and not at all what they like to ride.

This is just an observation, no pros or cons either way, but I can see how some people would be stoked and others not happy at all.

I have a stockpile of unused Crailtap G069 shapes from the last few years and I just bought a few more from Cowtown and they are the new BBS. Quick giveaway is the packaging as it won’t include the cardboard sleeve.

But I can confirm that the concave is different or steeper compared to the OG decks just by stacking them. I haven’t actually skated one yet to compare but I’ll report back eventually.
There's also the classic BBS circular warning sticker with "made in mexico" on them

These are both G069. The gripped Girl is China and the fresh Chocolate is made in Mexico. Tried to show the concave difference and lined them up by bolt holes but in person the Chocolate definitely is steeper. Last 2 photos show the Chocolate paired with a Quasi QS1 twin (also BBS).
Edit to add the new Chocolate is OG concave. Width is closer to 8 3/16 than 8 1/4 which is disappointing but won't be a huge factor. Wheelbase actually is the 14".
