Girl Deck Shapes

These are both G069. The gripped Girl is China and the fresh Chocolate is made in Mexico. Tried to show the concave difference and lined them up by bolt holes but in person the Chocolate definitely is steeper. Last 2 photos show the Chocolate paired with a Quasi QS1 twin (also BBS).
Edit to add the new Chocolate is OG concave. Width is closer to 8 3/16 than 8 1/4 which is disappointing but won't be a huge factor. Wheelbase actually is the 14".

Thanks for sharing these. You can def see the difference in concave in some of them. Dang what a bummer... Looking forward (or not) to seeing this in-person. Any chance this is a 'first run' sort of thing and will be fixed later?? The flat/'OG' concave is their whole thing.

I would imagine that they do not want to spend the money to create all new molds at BBS. Typically, you cannot move molds from one shop to another. My prediction would be that once tariffs move away they will go back to manufacturing all boards in China because that is where they make more profit.

i wanted to get some inverted hollow af1 55s to wrap it all up, but they weren’t available and i already had the af1 44s. the wide wide 58 radial fulls kinda help make the width ratio of deck/truck/wheel.

anyways, i was pleasantly surprised with the shape. pretty much got it because simon

I have regular AF1 44 and wanted 55 so I just bought the Hollow 55 hangers they sell. Works perfectly. It’s awesome that Ace sells most their parts separately, including the inverted baseplates so you can customize or fix whatever truck you want from them.

I'd prefer that, for Crail. The BBS middle of the road concave the new ones seem to have, if it's the same as the Quasi I'm on now, they're ... meh. They work. Skate fine but unremarkable. The OG concave/shape was damn near perfect. And the China decks actually seemed more durable. G069 is one of the best shape/decks I've ridden and definitely second to most BBS I've been on.

more flat? Huh. BBS Chocolate I got is a bit jarringly unflat compared to the several Girl China decks I've had. I assumed all Crail was migrating to the (comparatively) medium concave BBS now.

Their 8.1's tail is too steep. Ghost pop disaster for me

From what I have seen, I don't think they have released any g008 since they switched to bbs.  I've been waiting for that one to drop as well.

How are the Crail BBS boards? I absolutely love the China wood and have only broken one in the last 6+ years and it that was more my fault than the board being weak (switch wallie on a freshie and I have a tendency to absolutely slam my back leg down on switch tricks, bye bye tail!).

I used to skate a lot of PS Stix but I don’t know that I have skated much BBS, was Polar BBS pre Covid? Or Magenta? I’m not much of a board breaker but I snapped a ton of both of those before my complete Crail conversion. Change is scary

Polar was almost exclusively BBS prior to Covid. Since then, not sure. Magenta was also BBS, but I'm not sure if all their drops were BBS prior to Covid or if they switched throughout the years

I saw a BBS loveseat+ for the first time in the wild. I said to the guy ‘Is that a loveseat’? He was like ‘the board’? He had no idea what he bought he just liked the shape. I was gobsmacked. It looked like a short huffer. It a pretty rad shape.

They haven’t done the shapes you mentioned in a while, aside from the Loveseat+. I thought I saw a recent release of the “Skiduls” (KA) shape, but it either sold out or was old stock.

This is the most recent one, mislabeled as a regular Loveseat, but it matches the Loveseat+ based on wheelbase and listing on the Crailtap site.

Polar is still BBS and the boards are very good.
