picking a cell phone plan

anybody work at one of the big telecom carriers who's well-versed in this stuff or have had good service/experience on their plan? my gf and I are looking for a simple, affordable plan. not big data users (about 1gb a month each). from a prelim price-check comparison, most carriers seem to offer a 1gb data plan with smartphone for around $40 a month. any advice is appreciated

Pretty much. Get a burner at Target on that Virgin or Boost. Both use sprint towers.

Phonebooth, lets be brutally honest you don't need a smartphone or the shit plan that comes with it.

Go get yourselves new Moto G's from Motorola, they're unlocked so you can use them with any service. They're $180. the most bang for your buck mid-range phone out there.

Then go to Cricket (the exact same as ATT) and sign up for their cheapest 35 dollar a month plan. Unlimited Talk and Text + 2.5 GBs of data. The network coverage is very good, and certainly better than T Mobile.
you'd be hard pressed to do better than that, with a quality phone to boot.
