For anyone who have skated the 933 and the 1010, which one had the grippier sole?

Thanks. That is 1 for the 1010 and 1 for the 933. I may skate over to my local tomorrow and try them both if they have them in stock.

In my experience they start out pretty similar but the 933 loses its grip faster

I had the last years grey day 933 and they felt like the least grippy shoes i ever skated…..don‘t know if i was just unlucky?

1010s have a bit of a wider sole and seem to feel grippy just cause of that for me personally

another vote for 1010, but that may be because they have a lot more boardfeel (especially right out of the box)
:) I must have been tripping last night

Yeah, in my experience the 933 has the grippier rubber, but the fact that the 1010 is a lot more pliable and it definitely makes you feel more connected to your board than the 933 does

Thank you to everyone who chimed in!

I went to my local and ended up getting both of them. I think I could start skating the 1010 to get used to a thicker shoe while I take a month of walking around in the 933 to break them in. Unfortunately, my feet are destroyed and I need to figure out how to skate in some thicker and more rigid shoes. I think the 933 will ultimately be better for my feet according to my podiatrist.

The grip felt very similar on both shoes but the sole of the 1010 is definitely more pliable.

Yeah thats a good call. 1010s dont take too long to break in (especially if the toe panel is mesh, the suede/leather ones take a little longer), though there definitely is a process still. 933s require a lot more wearing around and even still the first few session are rough.

Both shoes are quite comfortable. I remembered trying the 1010s on when they first came out and the arch was so gnarly they made my feet hurt instantly. The all black suede 1010s I just got do not feel like that.

Shops starting to post next seasons 933 and 440v2 on IG (believe we’re also getting the navy 933 that’s been floating around for awhile for Q3)

If that 933 swapped the tan panel colors with the white ones,  plus change the rear brown panel to white, it would look better

That 440 should have a white N and heel panel so it would look more cohesive

A lot of NB# colorways are SO CLOSE to being excellent. It's a shame truly

Lets all remember theres no such thing as white suede.

Actually, there is, but its extremely expensive to make it.

I always imagine when these drop they're leftover panels at the factory Frankensteined for a discount run. Or there's a color quota that NB needs to hit each quarter. So they Picasso some shit up and let it sail.

Those 440s would skate well and you wouldn’t worry about fucking them up - one way to look at it. I have a pair of black/grey/brown leather Reynolds that I don’t want to skate in because I like the way they look but I knew what I was getting into.

i skated the 440s after skating many pairs of the reynolds and they were like a punishment to my legs and feet. i went back to the 1010s and realized they're probably the best shoes NB makes right now.

Haha I kinda felt the same when I skated my most recent pair of 440 highs. For me, they were my perfect all around shoe but a pair of well broken in 933s are sweet. I just started skating a pair of Tiagos but the really round toe visually trips me up. They feel awesome, though. I kind of hope New Balance does a 933 Lite or something with a more forgiving midsole/outsole.

Finally got around to skating a pair of 933s and I fell in love after the first 15 min of breaking them in. Got a wide model and it truly did not feel wider than the normal one lol.

Love how stiff and cushioned it is, and I find the outsole to be super grippy. The sole isn’t slick to me but I understand why it doesn’t work for some. I definitely had to change how I skate to get the most out of the shoe, but in a way I feel like I’m more secure and safe on the board than before.

933 Lite with a less chunky midsole could very well be my dream shoe.

I think the runner toe is necessary for the look they were going for, but I can see why some aren't a fan.

Aesthetically it's okay, but not my favorite.  I find the shape of the 933 better for me as I have narrow feet.

For me, I like 1010's midsole/outsole right out of the box for the most part. It's the toe shape that throws me off a bit. I much prefer the 933's overall shape.

Also - fresh out of the box and stiff as a board. Kinda wish the brown/tan was a little bit more muted but they definitely look great in person.

That makes sense, I’m kinda the opposite, I love the 1010 toe shoe but I prefer how the 933 feels underfoot once it’s broken in. 1010s tend to last a bit longer for me, I think because of how the toes shaped.

I like playing favorites too but I appreciate how every shoe feels different and has a unique fit and function.

I mainly use my 933s as chiller/walking shoes right now.  Could see myself potentially skating them down the line.  Love how snug and comfy they are.  Such a beautiful shoe, I’m just still in preservation mode with mine.  If releasing a “Lite” model would mean losing this version, I’d be disappointed.

With the 1010s, some I skate and work in, some I chill in.  Most versatile and reliable workhorse shoe.  Feels like the heel pods, fit and, for the most part, the materials have been improved over time.

Having both shoes makes me appreciate each model more… I go back and forth on which shoe I like most all the time…

Then there’s the 770, a chiller with tons of space for my feet to splay out in.  Maybe not sk8boarder4life wide but generous for me.  Super cushy foam.  Surprisingly lightweight.

The 808 og is such a fucking tank.  I wear it when I want to work or cruise and dull out all feeling that day.  Not enough board feel to actually skate with much control.  I actually don’t know how Tiago gets so tech in them.  Makes me appreciate his talent even more.  But they’re comfy as hell, just needs to be a full size up for me.

The 600 has some decent boardfeel for a cup.  Still breaking mine in, but the upper fits my foot really well.  The grip is good.  It’s a solid lightweight shoe with a nice shape and just enough padding that seems to check all of the boxes.

Still resisting the highly tempting 306 cup since my collection is sprawling already but I’ll probably try it eventually…

Love all the variety in #’s line these days!  They’ve really flooded the block and made it impossible to ignore what they’re doing.  Nice having a shoe for all occasions.  It does make life a little sweeter.

FWIW, the 306C is magic for me, if the 508 had just a bit more room in the mid/fore foot it would be just as amazing, just wearing the 508 as chillers but I can see I will need a new insole before I skate them
