Are there any NBs with a lower arch than the 440s? They’re killing my flat feet by the end of the day
[close]

Isn’t that an insole issue and not a shoe one?   (Genuinely asking)
[close]

@rothdigga will hopefully chime in with an answer soon as I don't really know either and I have higher arches so I really have nothing to add.  Sorry guys

I have terribly bad flat feet, like to the point where it causes me knee and leg issues, and in my experience the only arch support that's in most skate shoes is in the insole. I skated the 440s and swapped the stock insoles out for some popcush ones, and I didn't have any issues with the arch support. Maybe try swapping the insoles in your 440s for some old ones from a pair of shoes that you didn't have any arch pain in?
[close]
440s are vastly improved by the Superfeet insoles that you can get either with NB branding or without. They're some kind of Polyurethane and Carbon Fiber construction and tend to be pretty stiff so figure out what kind of arch support you need and go with the corresponding insoles. Throw the stock ones in the shoe parts box.
[close]

As someone that dabbles in replacement insoles (and having tried FP, 3 variants of Superfeet, and numerous shits off Amazon), for the cost, you'd be hard pressed to beat these:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075YH3D7N?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

Thin forefoot, SERIOUS arch support, medium/to mild cushioning, nice deep heel cup (something I felt the 440) was lacking; having skated 440s, and noted numerous times in this thread, the stock 440 insoles are trash, these would work very well.

For something with a little less arch (and aslo heat moldable with a hairdryer but doesn't squish out with foot heat like FP) these are a very good price point as well.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08MXSFPLZ/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Do you go true to size with those insoles in the 440 or size up?

The insoles are pretty flat in them, and there's an arch to the shoe itself.

Ok cool, might take my Vans Era Pro insoles and see how they go.  Cheers.

For long standing and walking, are 808 or 1010 more comfortable?

I did not use them in the 440s, I only eluded to the fact that based on my experience with each that I felt they would work very well (the 440 to me was nice and roomy and could accommodate this insole).

As for the insole, I have had no problems using it true to size shoes I'm currently running (600, rowan and my cross trainers nike/adidas). It's a very standard thickness for the most part but with just a honking arch and slight heel cup...which could be the only drawback with the 440s, for my foot I found the footbed of that show pretty shallow and using a 7mm FP insole didn't feel right in the heel, like my foot was sitting too high/the ankle collar sitting too low.

Man, loving the 600's so far.  Won't get to skate them until next weekend but I think they are my new shoe.  To the point where I may sell my couple pair of 480's even.  Just got the smurfs and may grab the green ones today too.
[close]
In your opinion, what makes them better than the 480s?

IMO the 600 is better than the 480 because it’s thinner with just as much impact protection and I don’t get any heel slip. I prefer the flick on them too. Also seems to be more durable so far

skated my 1010s for the first time today and damn they feel good. was always confused about how skatable they were just from the look, but they did not disappoint.

For anyone who has skated the 600, is the sole as grippy as the 480? I love the grip of the 480 but I would like a shoe that was just a little thinner and less rigid but has the same or greater level of grip.

Anybody tried FP insoles, let's say game changers, on 600? Or any other shke for that matter.

I have a pair of FP Game Changer 5mm's on ice at the moment, but as the 600 has been nothing but good to me so far with the stock insoles, I haven't tried the FP's yet. Will report back if I get around to testing them.

haven't worn the 808 but i have worn the 1010 and 550s and the 550s are much narrower for me. not unwearable or uncomfortable, just not like the 1010. from what i've heard about the 808 though, i'm figuring that would be more like them?

fine chiller regardless imho

Figured I'd mention it in here first ... gonna sell my 2 pair of 480's (Boss and Black leather Yin) in 8.5.  Boss has some wear on the left foot (I'll post pics in a bit) as they've been skated a handful of times and the Yin have been worn a couple times and skated for about an hour.  Both have a ton of life left.  $80 shipped for both (that's like $65 + sh) want to sell together but would sell the Yin for $60 shipped and the Boss for $45 shipped.  If you buy both I'll throw in a pair of size 8 420's that have barely been worn.  Check the fs thread a bit later today for pics.  (unless someone hits me up before then)

Put some PopCush insoles in my 440s and it feels like i've got half an apple under my arch!  Definitely getting less foot ache, but more arch pain.  And feels like high heels now, where the Vans didn't.  Guess the NBs have a lifted heel already and vans are flat as a pancake.  Need some dead flat insoles.

Seems like anyone with wide flat feet simply needs to buy a pair of 417s and 574s, then cut the toebox off the 574s and sew them onto the 417s.

I had a pair of the FP flat cut to size insoles in a pair of NB Westgates 508’s. The bro itself ended up being too narrow for me but the insoles where good.

Both of shoes shoes are hella narrow.

Anyone with wide feet need to just wait for the EE sizing for the 440v2’s and 272’s.

Anybody tried FP insoles, let's say game changers, on 600? Or any other shke for that matter.

use all in 440 highs.

I have like 5 different pairs currently using the game changer elite orthotic ones that mold without heating and the thickest like 10mm they fit !  They make the shoe a tiny bit more snug but they all work. id just be careful if you want the thick ones and put them in lows id be in my mind about my ankle

Got the game changers and they feel pretty good on the 600, will try them on my beloved 808 just for curiosity's sake.

I second this

I really enjoyed wearing the 1010s as chillers since they're a bit more flexible and light than the 808s imo. That being said, I enjoy skating the 808s more than the 1010s mainly due to the stiffness and impact protection.

Just a little break on drops for the 480's since Jan is usually NOT the month to be doing those.  But we've got more colorways coming this year plus the more basic colorways mentioned in the catalog for Fall 24.

and then there's another post that said something about wide v2's not being on the nb site until feb 5th i want to say?

conclusion: maybe??

Also, are we getting 440 highs in 2e?
[close]

all of those AM574/CT574/All Coast 574's were essentially the same thing, a cupsole version of the 574 designed out of our office but in both D (standard width) and 2E (wide).  The newer 574 is a vulc shoe and totally different.  I agree that I'm assuming the reviews were mostly from non-skaters with REALLY wide feet that those just didn't work for.
We will have 440V2 hi's in wide, just not this batch coming in Feb with the launch.

Looks like the inaugural V2 colorways are a separate release.
