A skate shop, ladies boutique, rock/music merch, and a sporting goods store.

Don’t stock shit that won’t sell in your region, area or to your demo.

Anything not moving is on the buyer. Period.

Anyone else have an issue with the 480 where the arch digs into their mid foot? The toe box is a dream but damn it stings every time I land. I have the same issue with Tiagos.
[close]

This is a known issue. Somehow the profile of the insole seems to cause foot pain / discomfort for some peeps.

Try swapping the insole into a wider insole, e.g. a normal NB Ortholite insole. Seems to work for many.
[close]
yea definitely fit issues with my 480 Boss colorway. Was the midfoot - not specifically the arch, I swapped insoles from 1010 but didn’t really help a ton. Ended up having to get rid of them. Now the 440v2 giving me snugness issues too - after plenty of pairs (913, 1010, 440) fitting fine these last two a bit dissapointing
[close]

Big thank you to Rikki and Daydream, good to know I’m not the only person with this issue. It’s a bummer and it’s kept me from trying almost the entire lineup, maybe I’ll hunt down a cheap pair and insole swap. I will say the 550s fit me perfect but the board last is so firm on those it’s painful to skate for awhile. I was hurting after! They need to make a skate version. That could be perfection!
touching on this, multiple 480s have all felt somewhat different on foot. the first run of the burnt orange/navy/white was by far the flattest. boss colorway i felt the insole in the arch of my left foot, black and grey colorway i felt it in my right. the latter two being rather uncomfortable to wear just standing around, but not noticeable when im skating

just seemed like the insole runs up the sidewall or something, im no shoe scientist

Making product that won't move is on the company. Stores are not in charge of release dates. My opinion is that NB# should have known better than to launch a trail shoe in the middle of June. I don't really give a shit about what small shop is able to move what, but it's telling when the big shops can't move it either. A buyer is responsible for knowing customer base, sure, but they don't make product. They don't drive consumer demand. If you actually were a buyer, you know this. you can see how the relationship between store/company is double sided. A local shop has no voice when for instance, Converse goes and launches their Topo Chico Fastbreak at Zumiez. They have no say when they try to order special releases and get turned down. There are two ends to this issue. Don't be a fanboy, don't take the point that "your shop is shit at buying".

I've been using 43 in the 1010 and 440 but I'm curious about the 306. Should I size down? thanks for the help

So you are telling me that product didn't sell. Do you have numbers to back that up or are you basing that on a few shops that chose poorly? I suck at googling apparently, I can't find another shop (with an online presence) that is selling them....lots of highs tho).

Correct, a buyer doesn't make the product or release date. They get a cataloge and go from there. I was 'actually a buyer' and stand by my comment. FYI - I ordered plenty of merch that didn't move in all catergories (woman's clothing and band merch were the toughest given the demo, and number of bands for instance...do you order what's charting or the tried and true, how many of each, what sizes sell the most given the clientle, what about the fat goth chics, how many XXXXL tops do I buy). When I worked in a my local shop, I new the skaters, what they wore and what they skated, we never had stale stock.

You don't have to order 'product' you don't want or think you can sell, even if the brand trys to force you. Is that detrimentle? Possibly. You need variety. Is it a choice? 100% (unless BIG COMPANY or whomever is forcing colorways on you).

Zumiez vs a cons topo chico release and a 'local' shop not being able to get them is a totally different topic for you to die on a hill for (andd I assure you we agree on what is right here).

This shop (presumebly) had a choice: order regular 440s or these. Hell, I don't live there, maybe NB# isn't popular, maybe BLUE fucking shoes wasn't the right colorway for over there. Maybe NB# is evil and said sorry, these are the only 440s I can offer you. That's the risk you take as the buyer.

I always think of Krux and their shit colorways, kittens, hotdogs and velvet, or those 'Slayer' Indys, you have to know what your shop moves in order to carry that shit....

How long does it take to break in the 480's or 440v2's. Ive been skating in the Nike Leo react's and GT's for a while now and need something new. I just hate shoes that take forever to skate
[close]

I just got the 440v2 and skated them right out of the box. They felt really good. Tightened them down, skated for 10 mins and tightened them one more time.
[close]

X2 on the v2 fresh out of the box skateability.
The 480s I walked around in them for a day before skating them and they feel like what I've always wanted Dunks to feel like. Stability and firm cushioning that doesn't pack out. Ideal cupsole IMO.
[close]

Did you notice Dunks have some of the worst grip? I tried Highs and a pair of lows and compared to everything I've skated Vans, NB#, etc. the dunks felt like my griptape was done but when I switched to other non-Nike shoes the grip felt immaculate.
[close]
Yeah, the tread pattern needs a total overhaul IMHO. They aren’t nearly as grippy as 480s.

For sure! Thanks for the reply

They've got the 440 listed as wide, anyone know if this colorway is, in fact, the wide/2e version? @rothdigga ?
If they have it listed as a wide then they probably got a run of the 2E width ones to sell I'm guessing.

June is a month where people are on vacation and living life outdoors, that's the thought process. Primaloft also allows for breathability and temperature control, not just providing warmth and its an ethical material used as an alternative to down feathers. Also, most shops don't have access to anything but skate footwear from the brands they carry and plenty of them have customers that cross over with their activities, so providing them something is better than ignoring those people completely. Anyways, that's a quick recap of the background on these.
Get litty.....

Man, after skating Jordan 1s and various non skate shoes for a while I'm now almost done with my second pair of 480 highs and I'm so stoked on them still. I have three more on ice already. Just waiting to see when/if more colors come out to stock up further

Finally don't have to swap insoles or change the shoe to make them work for me. Just a great shoe right out of the box.

I'm fully team NB# until further notice.

hahaaaa good on you, rick!

i bought the white leather 480 highs instantly. gotta say insole is a lil slippery and i swim just a bit in them around the heel and round the toes they are on the tighter side- after a while the shoes warm up and form to my feet great though, had two great first sessions, might just have to try some different socks.

waiting for my next paycheck and maybe get another pair. looking cool when i look down, good flick, great cushioning but boardfeel and got complimented on the shoes a bunch too wich was feeling sweet  :-* ;)

I also dig not having to swap insoles and just skate a shoe out of the box like I was 16 again. I'm still skating the original white pair but have the black sueded highs waiting for me along with the Natas. The low 480 white suede look pretty sweet, too, so I'm thinking I'll scoop those up next.

Yea, I've got to lace them fairly tight on the top 3 eyelets to keep my heel locked in nicely, but hey they're high tops, that's what they're for I suppose.

Those white suede lows are sick, I just can't skate lows.

i loved skating jordan 1s. usually mids in that ‘mid’ (at best) plastic leather. the sole, the rubber bumper, all just perfect for skating imo.

Everything except the insole on j1 mids was basically perfect for my tastes. Was nice that they were the least expensive 1s usually, sneaker heads hate them. They would tear my feat up if I didn't replace the insole though. Fairly thin.

Agree. I have an old Nike shoebox that I keep my laces and mini dv tapes in and it's about to get trashed for this new NB box.

We re-designed them to be stronger than the old ones.  Just some durability issues when stacking them at stores in the stockroom.
