Anyways, NB# makes excellent shoes and tough titties if specific colorways don't suit your very niche-specific tastes in how colorblocking should be done.

Sharpie/paint to customize or rip the fuckin logo off. It's not that hard and applies to all brands we skate
[close]

Here I am imagining how out of all the things to criticize NB for that one would choose colorways. They’re constantly knocking it out of the park with the options they provide.
I was hoping the thread would arrive here, eventually. That being the sole criticism (aside from some recent quality issues some have reported) and the fact that it's subjective, is pretty telling.

I think the actual designers at New Balance would have understood my specific criticisms more than SLAP.

I am finished.

I understand yours and mostly agree. Maybe it's beating a dead horse but my first reaction to the white/gum 600 was it's a clean shoe. Then my eyes zeroed in on the N, seeing the perforated outline, and that it's sewn onto a non-perforated leather panel. Seems to be less of a functional element at that point and more an aesthetic choice for subtle contrast. Visually I don't hate it but would prefer a solid fill-in for a more understated and cleaner look being that the cw is minimal as is.

I would like if the perforations were on the panel and not sewn on, maybe.   The first Arto 358s had a really good version of that on the inner side of the shoe

No one can respond to the black/suede 480 criticism.

The fastest way to get negative rep on SLAP is to express any kind of critical thought about New Balance… even if you’re someone who has bought a lot of New Balances.
[close]
You mean the misaligned holes for laces for which Roth said they would take care of it?
[close]

I’m referring to how infrequently they produce colorways without accents or hard contrast borders that emphasize the N. I’m using the black suede/gum 480 as an example because it is a beautiful shoe yet everything that’s great about black suede/gum is thrown off when you stitch a strong white border onto the upper… let it breathe.

The white/gum 600 is closer but it is funny how even there they chose to make the N stand out more. I understand that the texture of perforation is nice.

I think the materials and production itself is high quality.

Edmund is getting to incel levels of nit pickery

I was an incel for a really long time.

Nit-pickery? Yes... because I care, These are the kinds of things one thinks about when designing shoes…

i think a bigger design issue is that none of their shoes are actually shaped like feet. NB should work on that and then worry about tiny little stitching and perforation accents

Again with this?

600s are shaped well in this sense.

If you want a wider shoe try IPATH.

Yes, everybodys feet are shaped exactly like yours and NB shoes have never ever fit anyone well in all their years of business

Not surprised that an incel weiner is probably one of the same people that wear terrible looking barefoot duck shaped shoes because "they're shaped like feet" despite there being no actual evidence that such shoes actually do anything positive vs normal designs. Every brand of shoe is not going to necessarily work for every person.

Those ‘shaped like feet’ duck shoes are a niche product and a fad, like the Vibram toe shoes were at one point. A number of small niche brands make ‘shaped like feet’ shoes (at least one of them makes one that was intended for skating), and major footwear brands would start making them too if they became popular enough to justify it. Currently, most people don’t want shoes like that, so big brands who want to sell as many shoes as possible, don’t make them.

Maybe incel weiner has a foot fetish? The plot thickens!

Sort of a binding fetish, if you will.

Chi ha crisi interiori, chi scava nei cuori,

It is definitely good to spend a lot of time barefoot… you don’t need a peer-reviewed journal to tell you this.

However, skating in barefoot shoes is highly illegal and unnecessary. The taper is important for flick - like how ballerinas need ballet slippers for pirouettes.

Studies show they activate specific muscles more, however, this actually led to increases in joint pain and injury. This is why shoes used by athletes in every sport that has impact still use footwear with padding and support.

NB is actually a pretty sick brand. Based in Boston privately owned, still make some shoes in the US & UK. They were also the first shoe company to ever use insoles. Some pretty rad stuff.

Indeed! Don't think they are big enough to have their own containment thread yet though...

I would put the designs and team head to head with Adidas. Only a matter of time before the N is more than a cult favorite

He definitely called it.

I know it's the most tired subject of all time, but for anyone that is wearing the 933; I wear 10.5 in 1010 and 480, but 11 in the 808 purely for the length. Should I go 10.5 or 11 in the 933? It's a big investment and unfortunately I must order them.

for me, (a 440/480 enjoyer) the 933 fits the same. the sole is a bit thicker/stiffer which leads to heel slip first wear or two but once it breaks in they're good to go. so i'd run the 10.5 but also order from a shop with an accommodating return policy just in case  8)

I have all the same shoes and I also go up half a size in the OG 808s. But for 1010, 480, and 933 (camel brown CW) I go my true size.

600s and 480s fit me the best… 933’s definitely fit most similarly to 1010s. They may feel snug initially but if you size up they’ll likely feel too long to skate comfortably.
