I never went pro but my deck sponsor did let me choose a shape. They put a horrible graphic on it so maybe it's better it didn't have my name on it.
I'll take it, though. I rode a lot of them.

Pretty sure it was an element deck. My dad got me a new complete when I was really young. Think i ended up spray painting it a few years later.

First pro board was from the short-lived, but much-beloved, 60/40.
[close]

Around '93 I got my 1st, "pro deck."

My 1st pro deck was also a 60/40.... It was a Ron Chatman slick. I have yet to come across any pictures of the board. It had a white background with a hand drawn cartoon collage.

I chose it because i liked the graphic and thought slicks were better.

I don't have the deck. I traded it for an 8th

Try this I've found some really rare photos here

It could've been this one but i remember it having more white background

Blind Gideon Choi Pyro. Had no clue who he was but the board was fucking cool when you’re 14. Seen it pop back up on IG and blew it. Grail deck for me now.

1 . Uncle Wiggley Fishstick, White Gullwings, 2 tone Sims wheels, Bones Tail and Rails, Bird and of course copers. It weighed a ton but I loved it.

2. My Mom said no to a Powell skull and sword, didn't want to get the same Madrid deck as my friends, so I chose a  Fishstick

3. I wish I did, just to remind me how far boards and equipment have progressed.

After many shop boards, I somehow got a muska shortys featherlight board or whatever it was called. It had some sort of angel wing thing on it.

Honestly was a piece of trash I credit carded on a nollie heel and the nose chipped insanely bad...

Couldn’t find a pic but saw one sold on eBay for 500usd...
Hangin' with a cool bunch

pj ladd flip deck.

The Really Sorry one with the 'Thanks Scuba' speech bubble whilst his character is making the 'I just missed a kickflip' head in hands pose (which I always thought didn't quite make sense)? If yes then I had that one too, snapped it eventually which I only remember because I kept a piece of it that I still have around. PJ didn't have that many pro boards out on Flip before moving on or did he? I mostly remember a handful of graphics around the Really Sorry release time period and then nothing.

For some reason I also kept the worn down hangers of the golden pro truck PJ had on Venture at the time, ran those for a good year I think.

It had the largest nose in the shop - a shop that was run by a kid and in the back of his mom's carpet store.

My first real skateboard (until then I just rode hand me downs, or borrowed em from my friends). My dad took me to Beyond Image in Houston (webster) tx, on my birthday. Wasn't my first choice (wanted the Peter smolik dice board), but it was a shorty's. Got this with classic spitfire, polished Krux trucks, Lucky Bearings, and shortys hardware, oh and Jessup grip, cause Jeremy who worked at the shop told me black magic was only hype. I still remember my dad telling me to ride it out of the mall , we got stopped by security and looking back it was a funny thing.  We were dealing with financial problems so the fact my dad bought me a board was kinda big.  I loved that board and would love to have it again for display. I still have one wheel left though.

Sorry if I got too detailed. It's just a real special memory for me , thank you for reading

Yo that Olson deck was one of my first decks too!  I watched Fulfill the Dream almost every single day.  Unfortunately a car ran it over pretty shortly after I got it.

My first real deck was this zoo york robbie gangemi deck, designed by the writer futura.
I had it for a long time and wore it the fuck out, eventually gave it to a neighborhood kid I think.

Heath Kirchart "Sugar Cat" Deck

I had no idea who Heath Kirchart was when I bought this back in 1998-99... just liked the graphic.  I knew Berra and Tony Hawk and knew of Heath Kirchart, just as "must be some guy on Birdhouse."

Late 90s/Early 2000s Birdhouse is my absolute favorite. I hope to buy some and hang them on my walls, I wish Birdhouse would go back to this style of art direction.

Tom Hanks is the Heath Kirchart of the acting world.

Ethan Fowler Art Bars deck. I’ve been trying to hunt one down but I can’t even find a single picture of it anywhere, let alone one for sale.

If anyone happens to stumble upon one, could you be a pally and let me know?

First Natas model. Bought at Spring City Cycle in Waukesha, Wisconsin in 1986. Sold my Schwinn Predator, saved a bunch of paper route money and got this complete with red Ventures, two-tone Bones (can't remember the model but they were 85A) and NMB bearings.

Element Bam board. In about 2002 or 2003 i'd guess. 8in wide with tracker trucks and big spitfire wheels.

The shop I got this from had a ton of boards, not really sure why I chose this over the rest. That era of Blind was rad. Zero clue on who GC was. Wouldn’t mind having it back now.

Also had Indys and the guy sold me some 56mm Blind Life Takers. Those were funny.

I remember being obsessed over Steve Cab after playing THPS3 and my dad got me this set up at fucking Sports Authority! They legit sold real decks and accessories. Had Indys, Spitfire classics, reds, dooks risers, shortys hardware and black magik grip.

Hard to tell cause that's a bad pic but animal chin was on the tail end of the deck.

I can understand why people hate on them nowadays, but birdhouse was so damn cool when I started skating like 2001. Tempted to ride that falcon reissue truely because I didn't get to ride one back in the day.

Does anyone know who used to make them? I know they're now PS.
