Nah I think it's fair. It's still an animal product. You wouldn't buy a veg fried rice cooked in a bit of pork fat so why would a shoe with minimal leather branding pass?
Yeah, i wouldn’t buy veg fried rice or those gross cons. But I would buy jeans and pull the leather tag off. Go watch the tired™️ video then go skate or don’t. #veganking.

Let’s keep it all vegan love in here and just remember people are on different stages in their journeys/ have different ways of approaching things. I.e. I personally won’t wear suede, but if you’re a vegan who only thrifts suede shoes then I can back that.

***

Not much going on the vegan shoe front that is really exciting me although I do feel like the KSLs aren’t getting enough love. Hopefully NB# can drop the bomb colourway for the 440s when they drop next year…

I’m so excited for the vegan 440s, I really hope they don’t come in some doodoo color. Just anything standard/tolerable, please.

Are they all canvas & when are the 440’s supposed to drop? Appreciate you being the voice of reason.

I don't understand the point of pulling it off? It doesn't harm anything to wear it. Might as well leave it on at that point.

Purple ones listed as synth suede (but not vegan?):

Probably a misprint…

I find that with eS, that a few times things are incorrectly labelled.

Best off asking Don if unsure, he answered me about something not actually being synth suede on a Quattro colourway the other day.

I doubt imma support airwalk in 2023 unless they can drop some heavy reissues, but neither of those links work...

Well they are sold & jc penny for 100$ & synthetic. Even the ones that Clive wear are all synthetic. I still wouldn’t wear them either but not would I wear purple emericas.

The éS QUATTRO debuted in 1998, the same year Google was founded. Both were revolutionary in the their respective worlds. The QUATTRO sold out so fast, we believe if it wasn’t for this shoe, the search engine – Google, wouldn’t be as popular as it is today. Ronnie Creager & Rick McCrank were both fans of the éS QUATTRO thanks to its supreme comfort, boardfeel and its stunning appearance - the best option before Tinder! Want to get laid, paid and get an upgrade… the NEW updated éS QUATTRO is for you!
If there was a betting app for skateboarding shit, I’d put $1000 on Kelly Hart for writing that description.

New SoleTech catalogs are released. Emerica with one paltry new option: a Romero Laced, like it's 2014 or some shit.
Fun while it lasted I guess.

The romero looks really cool. Wonder how they skate. The seem to have no cushioning or heel protection at all.
The és melange also looks really sick.

That green Marana is looking pretty nice IMO. Overall I'm more into Etnies designs these days than Emerica or éS, which is wild to me.

They skate well, do not last long, and have no heel cushioning/protection. The material around the heel is kind of flimsy and tears quicker than other shoes with little-to-no padding. However, the slightly narrow upper half of the shoe makes flicking the board feel more effortless. If they updated the shoe and added the same protection that the Dickson shoe has in the heel, it would be a staple for me (in non-canvas colorways).

I’ve been waiting on a vegan slip-cup colorway for a while, but I give up.

Edit:
Any recommendations for cupsoles for feet with fatter toes? I’m about to give up and go half a size up with all eyelets laced. If I do that, I’ll be changing laces too often and have a lower rate of landing tricks.

I've had a few pairs over the years and the Romero Laced is probably the thinnest, most unsupportive skate-specific shoe you can buy. It's one step up from skating barefoot. I often also skate in Vans Skate/Pro Authentics, and when I would switch between the two, the Authentics felt so much more substantive and supportive, which is really saying a lot.

And Etnies seem to last the longest out of the three brands for me. Shoes like the Joslin and Marana are built like tanks, and comparable in price when on sale.

vegan wino slip-cup is my dream too. closest thing is the vans bmx slip-on with waffle cup, but you're stuck with the checkerboard colorway for vegan currently.
