Maybe this one was common knowledge but looks like etnies will give us a vegan Sal:

Still think those snakes look better, anyone skated them?

A vegan Sal would take me right back to ‘94. That’s tempting.

But then I might have to but the bottom hem off my big boys, let them fray , and find a ring-neck tee.
I don’t have much hair up there anymore, maybe I can bleach my beard…

Looks like the vegan Sal is already available via Etnies. They changed the sole from white/gum in the catalog pics to all-white  for production, which is a bummer.

Saw that, but it’s amongst all the other “new arrivals” from that same catalog and it’s the exact same colorway aside from the gum bottom. Plus it just has that flat monotone black look that the synth suede has.

I tried the vegan black gum snakes. There is just a egg crate midsole and the sides felt a bit floppy to me. But if you are looking for a flexible and thin cupsole, these can be good. But I haven't actually skated them, just wore them around a bit.

I returned them. Similar to the OG-1s the puff was a little too much and they fit too snug. Mayyyybe if they made a 12.5 I’d reconsider

damn, that sucks cuz those are the two models that I'm really thinking about at the moment, I keep forgetting I have some KSL G6s on ice though so I should burn through them first. Also tried on some of these the other day: https://item.rakuten.co.jp/revestore/art25eal-ii-vwh/?variantId=20250706107
and should probably just cop them because a) they are local, b) they have a mid sole and c) they are wide in the toe box

The only skateable ones are the synthetic Crickets and Grasshoppers. I got the Crickets and I like them but haven't been able to skate for a while due to an injury. They feel good. It's weird to have such a thin tongue on a thic shoe like that, makes it so you have to commando lace them.

For sure. I got them in the BF sales along with the Hemp/ Synth Cats. Really comfy and well made shoes. I'll put up with the red accent but will likely pull those silly little stars off. Well worth it, if you can get a deal.

Some of the details in the vegan models above are incorrect:

Figgy G6 was only in synthetic suede, no canvas ones were made

Stylus Mid's Muckmouth was regular leather and not synthetic, I believe, but other colorways may have had synthetic materials.

Thanks, you're correct. I updated the Figgy. Although I couldn't find a source saying the Muckmouth Stylus mid was anything other than vegan. They're still listed as animal friendly on éS and Muckmouth:
