i'm not prejudiced against scooters any hive minded group but you get too many of em together, they get cocky
I've enjoyed shrimp daddy's posts for a while, but while watching that recent one I was like... wait, these people in the clip represent skin heads/nazis, and skateboarders are liking the vibes they are putting out towards a group of kids who ride scooters.
I admit, if I show up to a park and there are a ton of kids (boards or scooters) I'll probably head elsewhere. But if it's a small crew of kids just doing their thing and they don't understand park etiquette, what happened to educating them on not being snakes?
I guess I'm just lucky to have come up in a time / place when the older generation looked out for the kids at the park. Then again I also grew up in a town with a small skate scene where the bmxers, rollerbladers and skateboarders only had one enemy, the police. We didn't know we were supposed to dislike each other until advertising in magazines reached us. I get the whole pegs on coping / ledges issue and so did our friends who bmxed, as well as bladers over waxing stuff, they got that as well and we would communicate with one another over these issues.
Anyways, grown men getting angry at kids for choosing to take a different path seems kinda like an ego issue. Let the kids find their own stoke and use your status as a skateboarder to educate them on how skateparks flow.
Then again I live in a city where people instantly hate someone for riding an electric skateboard and actually want them to fall and eat shit. But if someone does the same to us, they are an asshole...
