8.5 x 33
« on: July 08, 2017, 08:53:29 AM »
Anyone know if any companies are making 8.5 x 33 with a 15" wheelbase? Our shop was using Service for boards for years but recently changed it up and I cannot go back to riding a shorter deck. I know Roger was using Service back when they were still around but I'm wondering if anyone else is using them still, or if anyone has this size deck? Seems like everyone is running 8.5x32 at the longest.

Pennswood made a 8.5 with a 15" wheelbase for Northern Co a couple seasons back.  I just measured mine and it was 32.5" tip to tip(33" measuring with nose/tail steepness).  It had a tie-die stain and a red top ply:

I asked in the woodshop thread and Pennswood directly if they made the shape for any other companies and haven't gotten any leads as to other companies that use the shape.  I believe Bacon makes a similar shape(15" wheelbase not sure about overall length) and Flip used to have an Arto 8.5 with a 15" wheelbase but not sure what their deal is anymore.  Also Antihero had an Albino guest deck whose dimensions were 8.43"x33" with a 15" wheelbase(not sure that really works for you).  Many folks on here have asked a similar question and I think it's just really tough to find a deck with those dimensions.  Let us know if you find anything that works as once my Northern Co wears out I'm not sure what my next deck will be.
All you got is today, get out and skate.

I think skatewarehouse blanks have a shape like that, heavy boards but feel quite solid.

The new ML are 33.5  :o that's crazy long.

DLX [8.5] Fulls are 32.62x14.6WB probably as close as you are going to get without it feeling weird.

The Anti Hero "Bino Hero" decks were almost there at 8.43 x 33 with 15" wheelbase, not sure if they are still making this shape though.

This is a shot in the dark but Krooked boards always feel much longer to me than any other generator/BBS board.

They seem to be, I've got a krooked gonz blockhead deck I'm saving for a special occasion. 8.62 with a 14.75wb. Sometimes I think its too wide, but for me the length is pretty perfect.

To follow-up Bacon has an 8.5" with a 15" wheelbase in stock:
https://www.unheardpdx.com/decks/bacon-x-skam-trump-8-5-x-15-wb
They don't list overall length but I don't think you'll find anything closer to that Service shape than this(please let us know if you do though).
Bacon uses South Central wood right?

it is ... still quite close though at least in my mind. 15" wheelbase sounds pretty cray cray though
