This thread is eye opening. All this time I thought I was trying something “new” but I was skating all BBS wood.
I’m looking for something different but still good. Any recommendations?
You might not be trying different wood, but what you are more than likely trying is different shapes. While the wood might be the same, each company has their own shapes that they like to use.
For wood recommendations though:
South Central makes some nice boards. A bit on the heavy side, but damn are they durable.
I'm currently skating a DSM deck and liking that a lot. Doesn't feel like it's going to get soggy anytime soon, and doesn't look it will be razoring out either. Probably going DSM again for my next setup.
PS is hit or miss. Sometimes you get a really great one, other times you get one that gets soggy as fast frosted flakes in milk.
