Bring back the 598, or make a new shoe based off the 998

Not sure if posted yet. But here you go
not a fan of the hiking 440 high colorway (specifically the smoky green camo), but the look down factor with those laces are great

have yet to grab a pair of NB numerics. I've had my eye on a few different pairs of 440 lows for a while now... I've mostly worn vulcs the last few years so looking for something more comfy for daily shoes. How are they?

that shoe actually predates both of those shoes and the K3, so it’s more like the 850 jacked off and nutted in a port-a-potty and those shoes formed out of the sludge

its really just the funky green panel that the N logo is inside of. if it was black i'd be about it.

440 are really thin, great board feel and prob the best transition to a cup. I like the way they skate but find them too thin in the forefoot. For me they don't last very long.

The only thing I’m concerned about is the midsole on those. If that Abzorb midsole runs the length of the shoe and is similar to the Fuelcell midsole of the 1010 then I’ll be sold. I need it to prevent back pain while skating
We put a full length Abzorb midsole in the 808. It’s a different compound that helps with impact.

Some more basic colors coming for that shoe soon (440 Hiker).  We usually launch with a non-traditional colorway as you've noticed I'm sure then go to some more basics.  Holiday 2022 we have some along the lines with what you're asking for I believe.

I actually love that 440 hiker colorway. Also excited for the 808. Should do a special Hawaii colorway of it haha

two questions:
how do the 480s skate? if truly a dunk alternative, im in
and do y'all switch insoles in your 1010s or is it overkill?
while cool-guying is a real phenomenon, studies show that 83% of all cool-guying incidents can be attributed to the cool-guyee being an awkward weirdo

Most people who have skated the 1010s would say do not switch insoles. They have great support just as they are, probably the best of any shoe. I have skated them with footprint insoles, so you definately can.
Life changing shoe.

Curious about 480s as well. Been on the verge of buying them a few times but never pulled the trigger.

1010s with different insoles would be overkill imo. That shoe is already way padded

I got lucky and an NB homie sent me a couple pair of 480s. They skate really good. The sole is thinner than it looks in photos. I would say probably similar in thickness to a Dunk sole. The upper is much less padded. Decent padding around the collar, but the tongue is basically not padded. Myself, I much prefer tongues like that. A huge thing I don't like about Dunk SBs is the tongue and where they have the straps. If you do the laces all the way to the second hole then they look all weird like you're sucking them in, and if you do them one hole down the tongue sticks up too high like you're trying to puff them out.

TLDR 480 is kind of a perfect cupsole to skate. Great boardfeel, not too thick, not too thin. If you're looking for a Dunk substitute, the sole is, the upper isn't as padded. Crazy glue the seams and you'll be good. 9/10 Watty fucks wit it. IF they make a Numeric version, it will be amazing.

Here's the pair I skated. (There was a smaller N on top of this one that I popped off.)

In answer to your other question, switching insoles on 1010s is unnecessary. I swapped insoles in the 480, but no need in 1010s at all.

If that green panel on the 440 Hiker was just solid green, I’d buy multiple pairs. The sole on the regular 440 is too thin for me, so that’s basically the exact shoe I was hoping it would be. Not quite the colourway for me, but I’m hyped to try the shoe.

Full length midsole on the new Tiago is exactly what I was hoping to hear, too.

To whoever asked about changing insoles on the 1010: unless your replacement insole is super thin, it probably won’t work. I tried with a couple different ones because I need more arch support than the stock ones, but I couldn’t keep my heel in the shoe.
