That Lumix that was posted might be worth looking into. I haven't had a Lumix myself but I heard nothing but good stuff about them and new cameras always have the latest technology which in the digital case, is a good thing.

And if you are looking for something more portable, try the Canon S95.

Has decent ISO and fast lens (heard shooting at night isn't too great though), HD video, wide angle, etc. I think people get this for more the portability of anything. Don't get a G series Canon (ie G12) cause those fucking things are huge and you might as well get a DSLR.

[close]

Exactly.

I posted the Lumix, and I also own the S90, which is basically the S95 with SD video.  They are about the same size, the Lumix is slightly larger yet lighter.  The Leica lens on the Lumix is much better than the lens on the S90 (same lens as S95).  Canon learned with the G10 that more megapixels does not equal better resolution, as too many crammed together confuses the sensor and that is why the G11 and G12 megapixels were cut back to the optimal 10.  The Lumix, however, uses a Leica MOS sensor which handles the 14.1mp very impressively.  The Canon shoots raw, which the Lumix does not, but the Lumix has much higher quality video the the S95's HD.  I prefer shooting with the Canon because of the aperature ring on the lens and shutter dial on the back.  The Lumix is pretty simple in manual mode as well, but not as intuitive if you are used to shooting with an SLR.
I own the s95 and it is seriously the best stuff. So portable and it actually works pretty good at night. I saw some new olympus camera at the store the other day which is kinda similar but goes all the way down to like 1.8 or something. Ill see if i can find it

HELP! I got some black and white film developed and they all had this fucking white burst line across them, ruining most of them. This happened on my last roll of colour too, but it was a faint red line that looked quite cool on some photos. What is happening? Im guessing it's to do with the camera/me loading it wrong.

was stoked on the tone in this one but the line kills it

That one is pretty interesting but still

if it's happened to two rolls and it's on every shot, you most likely have a light leak somewhere on the camera. was it in the same spot on the last roll?

it's a shame cuz the boot picture has great tones, but the one of the girl actually looks really dope

I doubt it's a loading issue. My guess would be some sort of a light leak in the body itself. Maybe a crack or something. I'm probably wrong though.

Thanks guys. That leak makes sense i suppose, should i have a look to see anything visible? I could put a small bit of tape over it or something? Also just getting another roll with some photos i was hopefully going to be stoked on, but i'm sure they'll have this too. Hopefully not so bad.

yeah, if you find where the leaks coming from, just put some black electrical tape over it. should do the trick.

I hope it works for you. I also recommend the standard black tape you can get pretty much everywhere.
What kind of film do you shoot, the tones look rad indeed.

That was ilford 400 iso film. Usually i shoot colour because i have no access to a darkroom so i have to go to jessops, and they have to send black and white film off and its more expensive. Colour wise i bought a load of random mixed rolls from some guy on ebay for dirt cheap.

To Cadillac, i looked at my rolls, and it was on some of the last roll, but not the roll before. So this must be a recent crack.

I thought it looked kind of neat in that one though

yeah if that's the case, then most likely it happened recently. i gotta start buying my film on ebay too, im spending way too much money on film and development. best of luck with your new roll!

Just some shit i was just working on for school. Nothing that interesting. Theres more in different mask things i haven't edited yet. Not satisfied with them yet (in terms of the black and white, they seem a bit bland) suggestions?

also, every time matze posts i feel inclined to check prices on medium format gear.  maybe one of these days...

you should. the quality is a lot better then a regular 35mm format. you should get one of these fuji's that ben used ... http://www.dantestella.com/technical/ga645.html, they're sweet, kind of cheap and you can take them everywhere you want.

Seems really practical and looks great! Thanks for the info, i would love to try one out. How cheap is pretty cheap?  And this is probably the best thread on slap! Everyone is killing it! Keep posting! I will scan some pictures soon to contribute.
I actually did hit another skater in the face with my shoe once at a demo doing a shoes fly off kickflip but he was cool with it.
