I have a full time job right now, so I don't go out and take pictures too often, I don't even have inspiration these days.

these are some t-max 400 developed in t-max dev. not my cup of tea.

I just picked up this Lumix and I'm testing out some of the features.
http://panasonic.net/avc/lumix/compact/zs10_tz20/index.html
10fps @ 14.1mp is pretty awesome for a point and shoot.

serious kickflip/ss flip?

That Lumix seems pretty cool for the featured you get but too bad there will always be motion blur when shooting in burst mode. Were those shots put together by the camera or in post production?

I masked them together in Photoshop.  It was shot right as the sun was setting behind a building so it was 1/160sec.  I've shot cars driving by in the middle of the day to test it at faster shutters and have not gotten motion blur.

all of these photos are sick!

i used to shoot 35mm with Canon AE1. I loved the camera, developing my own film was great too. However, i've broken 2 AE1's, the film advance lever has always gotten jammed and it's not worth fixing. i no longer have darkroom privileges either.

So i want to move on into the digital age- i've got a little Nikon pocket camera, but i'd like something to carry around and get better shots with. I've got a few bucks to play with and i'm going Amtrak across the country, followed by a bike tour from Humboldt to Yosemite Nat'l park- i want to get some good shots.

what is going to get me the best bang for my buck in the 5-800$ range? any advice would be great!

That Lumix that was posted might be worth looking into. I haven't had a Lumix myself but I heard nothing but good stuff about them and new cameras always have the latest technology which in the digital case, is a good thing.

And if you are looking for something more portable, try the Canon S95.

Has decent ISO and fast lens (heard shooting at night isn't too great though), HD video, wide angle, etc. I think people get this for more the portability of anything. Don't get a G series Canon (ie G12) cause those fucking things are huge and you might as well get a DSLR.

Sorry Victor, but making pictures like those of yourself is pretty faggy. What did you tell your mom when she walked into you taking them ?

Exactly.

I posted the Lumix, and I also own the S90, which is basically the S95 with SD video.  They are about the same size, the Lumix is slightly larger yet lighter.  The Leica lens on the Lumix is much better than the lens on the S90 (same lens as S95).  Canon learned with the G10 that more megapixels does not equal better resolution, as too many crammed together confuses the sensor and that is why the G11 and G12 megapixels were cut back to the optimal 10.  The Lumix, however, uses a Leica MOS sensor which handles the 14.1mp very impressively.  The Canon shoots raw, which the Lumix does not, but the Lumix has much higher quality video the the S95's HD.  I prefer shooting with the Canon because of the aperature ring on the lens and shutter dial on the back.  The Lumix is pretty simple in manual mode as well, but not as intuitive if you are used to shooting with an SLR.

that's a regular zeiss planar for hasselblad shot with a a16 back(4,5x6,0 format). I used a 10mm extension tube for the close up ... imagine how clear this would look with a bigger format and one of these expensive scanners. I'm glad that these pictures don't look like regular film :D
