Anyone have experience with a Yashica MG-1. I bought a really clean one from eBay. It fires nicely and just has an makeshift battery situation. The batteries required for the camera are obsolete.

Anyone use one?

I had one called an electro 35 but it looked just like that.  My winder always got stuck and it was it was more hassle than anything. It shot decent photos, but wasn't reliable at all.

de er meget godt men kun sjovt for fem minuter. or something like that haha. started my medium format photography with a holga and had a blast. at some point I preferred a better camera.

speaking of medium format: I came across an auction yesterday and ended up buying a Hasselblad fisheye lens for 850 Euro. EIGHTHUNDREDFIFTYFUCKINGEUROS.

Doing some research for a mate. Anyone have any recommendations of a reasonably compact digital camera. Thinking approx USD $300-$400. Open to second hand options. Preferably something that has decent auto exposure functions, has a sharp lens and that is reasonably versatile i.e portraiture, landscape, some actions shots etc. My knowledge of cameras is limited to SLR's so thought I'd check here for suggestions. Thanks in advance for any help!

EDIT: Sony rx100 range sounds good. Anyone tried these out?

I've heard good things about those little Sony's. You can get a killer deal on the Fuji X20 now, which is another really good option to consider. The fuji's can be really nice for someone who doesn't want to fuck around with post processing all that much, you can shoot raw and convert to jpeg in-camera with a bunch of tuning and profiles and get a usable image super quickly.

does anyone here have any tips rolling 35mm negatives onto the metal hewes reels? I know all the steps from the photo class I'm in but I always get a burn or two on my negatives. Luckily it'll be on an already bad shot or a bail shot but I dont wanna ruin a good shot in the future. I think when rolling it I let the negatives jump the track and touch itself? Also any tips on shooting b&w portraits would be greatly appreciated!

and Mooley youre fucking killing it with all those photos

Aw man, I wish I had any advice on those metal reels. I really hate those things.

Haven't posted too much lately, but here's a lil bit.

stoked that this thread gets more love again. i have only heard good things about the sony rx100 as well, but my personal favourite is the fuji x100 ("s" in my case), 35mm fixed lens, but fast enough to even shoot skateboarding while being small enough to bring it everywhere.

Lots of practice was the only thing that helped me. Take a roll that is toast and practice with it, hold the reel under a table while you are watching something on the computer and do it over and over again. It was a pain at first but now I can do it every time with no problem. I'm having a problem with loading 120 film on the metal reel right now. Think the it might be bent and that can mess everything up. check to see if yours are bent. If you are getting small spots that aren't developed it could be that. Also, feel the film as you are loading it make sure there are no bumps. Hope that helps.

Matze, that fisheye is wonderful can't wait to see what you do with it!

Yes, and what does it say on those red signs? "NO FURNITURE", then what?
