This has irked me for a long time

Do pros actually only get royalties for their pro model boards or is it some sort of weighted pooled system like a restaurant tipout? The majority of boards sold are definitely 8-8.5. Do the riders with the outlier 7.6 deck or BA's 8.8s just resign themselves to selling half as many boards as the guys with an 8.25 deck?

Can somebody answer this please it’s been bugging me for a while

If I build a little concrete ledge at my rain spot under a bridge in LES the city’s not gonna fuck with it for a while right, it’s across the street from a police station but I never see them

The pro's I know get something dismal like $3 a board, if even that. There's usually also a salary, so they have their base pay and then board sales are essentially a "commission check" if you will.

The old expression "Don't quit your day job" rings true I guess

job?

Yeah, a day job. The thing that most modern pros rely on to make ends meet lol

Wanted to post in Unpopular Opinions but maybe I'm just out of the loop on this;

Why are vids one-skater standalone vids referred to as parts?  I thought "part"  was interchange for "segment", "chapter", or "section". Like "part" of a larger video.

It's a part of their life. But yea the term just carried over from a bygone era, why make a new word for it when everyone knows what you mean when you say it.

Aha I actually considered this as a potential reason initially

Makes sense.
For context; I noticed that Austyn Gillette promoted his new vid as a short film which made me question the nomenclature.

No…
No, my lilyung friend: Austyn Gillette is just a pretentious douche & THAT is why he utilizes that phrasing when he means “video part.”
Big fan, by the way, Austyn with a Y: looking forward to that box.

I wanna play you in a game of SKATE for the right to continue talking shit on me.  You think you got me?

has anyone ever seen or remember hearing about a pilot habitat made for a tv show? maybe it's a false memory but i think its been mentioned in interviews with riders or joe. probably would have been way less corny than "i wanna be a baker!". also, since the topic of stand-alone vids being called parts was mentioned, what would be a better word for footage?
