These? Didn’t have the contrasting N and laces. Big diff IMO

Gimme those Reynolds. Hope they drop in sept??
[close]

I think those with the contrast laces might look better due to the lack of the big N but I might not be too detail oriented
I hear you, more subtle look all tonal. Branding blends in instead of pops out.

What are the indoor soccer looking shoes Tom K wears in the new WKND video? Kinda got green reflective n, possible k detail on toe

I watched this back 4 times it appears to be a black leather 272 with WKND imprinted on the toe panels. @rothdigga care to explain?

I’d DM Tom K.   He’s pretty nice on IG

Dare I say "DM Tom K like a man!" ha.  I can't explain what those shoes are...but they sure are something!

So far really impressed by the westgate 508’s. Got the white on white leather ones and they’ve been super comfy and skated really well. Nice mellow slant from the heel to the toe. Similar to the busenitz but much less aggressive. I usually size a half step down in shoes I skate and these fit perfect in a 10.

So far I like them better than the 440s but unfortunately all of the other 508 colorways are just awful and ugly. I liked the old white/gum color but they’re all sold out in a 10. Would love

I’ve honestly enjoyed every new balance shoe I’ve had.

I’ve only had a few sessions in them, but I love the 480s. I’m a super casual skater, though. They’re super comfortable and I can actually wear them as chillers unlike the 808 and 440. New Balance should makes these the default version of the shoe lol

How can you not wear 440 or 808 as chillers but these are fine? Just personal taste?

440, I feel every pebble under my foot. 808, just too heavy and still tight in size 14 (one size higher than I wear). Also, I think it’s cause these are more in line with the kinda shoes I’ve been wearing for the past 20 years. Mid weight casual ones.

Got it. With different insoles the 440 are great chillers the problem is there's no padding in the forefoot. I wanted these to be 440 with padding but they ain't. Hoping the Tom Knox shoe is closer.

I feel with both the 480 and 1010 at first I feel like I could go a half size down, but when I did in the 1010 I regretted it later once my feet swelled and big toe hit the end of the shoe.

I find the fit to not be super different than the 440 but a little more rounded on the toes.

I skated them for like 20min today at the start of my session and hated them and put my 440 on. Instantly felt better to me. I skated them at the end a hit to see if "maybe I wasn't warmed up" and that made some difference but not a ton. They might just be too stiff for me.

If you bend a 480, 1010, and 808 they are way more like the 808 IMO but thinner. I have some old Jordan 1's at home and those are definitely more flexible.
[close]
I think we've all been brainwashed to think, skate great out the gate=good shoe. If a shoe is good right out the gate board feel wise, I know for a fact they will flop out or just get excruciating mid to late stage.
[close]

Yeah I think team riders like shoes that are broken in out of the box because they're regularly skating brand new shoes, but I try to avoid shoes that are super flexy out of the box. Major red flag.
[close]

Remember, I skate and like the Tiagos. I don't expect those to feel amazing at first, but after a sesh they quickly soften up and get flexier as the rubber breaks in. I've had 4 pairs of them and know the shoe fairly well at this point and have no complaints about their flex or board feel.

440s are the same for me. They never reallllly flop out for me. They soften up quicker since they're thinner. No complaints about flex or board feel.

The reason that I am sharing this experience is that people that have only tried the shoe on or skated it 1 time are posting that the 480 is a midpoint between the 440 and 1010 and its not at all. It is less bulky in the rear (sorta) than the 1010, but the sole is stiffer/hasn't softened up after 4 skates and the padding in the rearfoot feels stiffer. I think a few people agreed on this. It is definitely not in between those 2 models in terms of really anything except "total amount of technologies".

I think a good way to think about it is that it is more like an 808 and 440 mixed. I can see why people would like it for sure and hope it comes around in sesh 5.
I can't be more sold

For me, I tried to go casual with 440s until I could skate them but they were so rock hard of a sole, yet paper thin. The sole material/durometer and fit made them feel kinda and uncomfortable. Would not wear them as chillers at all. And I even tried different insoles before donating/selling my ebay pairs

Weird, I find them to grip great. Not a Vulc level but every NB I've had has had great grip. Or maybe you mean something different by hardness.

Glad they're making something for every preference. Shows that they're good at designing and not just turning out different uppers on the same soles.

They just missed the mark for me. Felt boxy, rock hard, and not plush: insole/padding for me. I'm used to more comfortable shoes like the Marana, KSL, Joslin, Dunks, and Forums. They did feel decently grippy on one pair I tried to skate, so grip is fine. But the sole durometer and hardness of the rubber did not have the forgiving comfort like other cupsoles I mentioned plus the 1010, 288, and 508 soles.

Ok 4 sessions in with the 480s and I’m really feeling this shoe. 1010s are still my goat but I’ll be getting multiple pairs of these for sure. Already got my eyes on the brown/green and Black/grey colorways

That's exactly how the 480 feels for me with how stiff the sole is. I took it off my foot at the shop and compared its flex to an 808 and 1010 and it was for sure stiffer than the 1010 and the foam feels more dense. I'm hopeful they will break in more. I'm not a huge Dunk fan and prefer Jordans to them so it makes sense why we have different experiences.

The 440 rubber is actually really soft- so soft they're changing it for V2. I think the thinness of the forefoot can make it feel really harsh. My 440 highs I can almost ball up.

Have worn the 440 lows for a few days and had my first skate in them.  I have pretty flat fleet, have always worn vulcs, mostly vans and can feel it's gonna be a bit of a curve to get used to these.  They're perfect in length, and feel snug on the sides, but kinda lifty in the heel and maybe a bit too baggy in the toebox.  The outside of my foot really hurt by the end of the session and the arch is a bit high.  Should have gone with the Knox Highs as I swear they felt flatter & snugger.  Also, the sole felt thinner & flexier, could that be right?

Whenever I geht a new pair of 440s, it takes a few sessions to break them in (walking doesn't really help as much as skating in them). To me, the insole initially feels a bit funny but it goes away after a few hours and then they're perfect for me. Hope they work out for you!

Yeah, i'm hoping it's just wearing in and getting used to them.  Love the more solid feel of them though.  Hope they don't slop out.

i always forget to bring this up but does anyone else have issues with the stitching on the inside of the 440 coming out and wrapping around your toes? i swear to god on every single pair i have had, my front foot, the stitching on the inside pulls out near my pinky toe and wraps around my toes and i have to get in there with scissors and cut it out
