Jim, your phone shots look sick!

So I got my first roll back I shot with my Yashica. I shot with some really cheap fujicolor 200. Not really too impressed with the quality, but then again the compositions arent that great either. I really just wanted to get out and shoot with the camera and I had a lot of fun. I actually woke up at 6am and went out to shoot this abandoned place I've had my eyes on. I broke the first roll of film because I wasnt paying attention to the exposure counter and just thought the advance lever was stuck so I cranked it and snapped the film. After that I loaded this expired roll of Ilford 400 because it started to get cloudy, but that roll didnt come out. The people at the lab said that because it sat for so long, some of the film started to melt and ruined it. I'll probably go back to the place and shoot again because I think Id get some good shots, but maybe wait until the trees bloom.

Anyway, here are some shots I got off the first roll.

also, do any of you guys who shoot film do any post editing in lightroon/photoshop? it seems like it kind of defeats the whole purpose of shooting film, but i know i could do a few tweaks and make the photos look quite a bit better.

Those photos are sick, can't to see more of your film stuff. I definitely would say editing the photos kills the purpose of film, but fuck what I think, if you're using it for something and need it to be perfect then edit away. I just think films cool because of how raw (?) it feels or something.

EDIT: Also being able to get the perfect image with as few shots as possible is part of the fun/challenge to film and editing def kills that feeling. But again, do whatev you wanna do.

Really dig this one.

A few pages back some of you guys were discussing a cheap little olympus point and shoot 35mm cam. what was the model again?

I just bought an olloclip 4 in 1 lens thing, a fisheye, a wide angle, and 2 macros. I really just wanted it for the macro, I used my friend and it was pretty much mind blowing. I'm excited to film bugs and shit

^ Thanks!

I think the one people were talking about was the stylus epic. They can be had for around $20-30 on eBay. If you don't mind spending a little more, you might want to check out the olympus XA. It's got more manual controls and a really nice lens for a compact camera. I've been looking into them and they seem to have a cult following and take some really sick pictures. The price for a working one could be anywhere from $50-100 though.

**apologies for the long story** Passed by this guy on a walk and he asked if he could borrow my phone to call his buddy who was supposed to pick him up an hour ago. I let him use it and then we chatted a bit afterwords. Seemed like a friendly guy who had been dealt a pretty hard life. I asked if I could take a quick pic and he was like "Me? why would you want to take a picture of me?" I told him because I thought he looked cool. Took the pic and was super psyched on it so i showed him and he looked up at me and said super sincerely "you know, thats the nicest picture anyone has taken of me in over 20 years" It was definitely so touching to hear that. Totally made my day.

for sure.

here are a few sequences i shot recently.  i've never bothered to animate sequences in the past, but i decided to try it in photoshop.  only issue i'm running into is the the highlights get grainy when saving the animation (look at the sky in the 5050), and I'm not really sure how to achieve higher quality. if anybody has any advice for gif export settings i'm all ears.  the lipslide to that curb landing was nuts, kid is an animal.  for the 5050 I sorta rushed the shot but it somehow retained the focus in the zoom, stoked on that.

Yeah, awesome story and shot. It's always a good feeling when someone really appreciates a photo being taken of them. One of my favorite things about street portraits.

GIF can't hold that much color data (supports up to a 256-color palette) so you're not going to get better quality unless you split it up into a bunch of small GIFs. You can read up on that here.

To the person asking about the Stylus Epic, I got mine not too long ago for $56 off ebay. I'm still figuring out how to use it, but it's really fun. Here's a few from my latest roll.

This last photo is probably my favorite I've ever taken.
