Stop calling it rape culture. It's not culture. Culture are the rich arts and traditions of different that are mean to be celebrated. You wouldn't call a piece of shit serial rapist a cultured man would you?
It’s almost like you’re an idiot with no concept that a word can have multiple meanings.
In this instance, it refers to “the set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes an institution or organization” (like in corporate culture) that made it acceptable for many people to behave in a way where rape or sexual assault was tacitly condoned or swept under the rug bc they didn’t care or had a “take what you want” attitude towards everything.
"It's almost like" okay but no. I don't care how many trendy phrases you use that's just not what culture is. And somehow you've taken my comment to mean that I don't think it's a problem. I know it it's a problem I'm just saying there should be a more appropriate word used. So take your condescending bullshit out of here.
Sorry, just using a dictionary definition of culture there to show culture is an appropriate way to refer to a scene’s allowing rape/SA to be okay
I could very likely be wrong of course I'm just saying there wasn't a need to insult me so quick. I just kind of think it's a fucked up problem and culture is usually a pretty cool thing to appreciate.
I'd much rather call it a plague or something disgusting like that
Nobody needs to get their sensitivities or definitions trampled here, I think I have a workable compromise.
We’ll just rename the thread “SF Skate Rape Set of Shared Attitudes, Values, Goals, and Practices That Characterizes an Institution or Organization,” provided the Mods approve and our esteemed fellow bloard user, @el oyente de la noche gives his blessing.
Be better, ding-dong.
