Skaters who never lived up to their potential?
« on: February 04, 2019, 12:47:00 PM »
Anyone who you thought was destined for big things when they emerged into the scene but then just burnt out/disappeared?
Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It’s the courage to continue that counts.

The big one was Andrew Gordon.  He was all picked by g rowely who said he had a penny quality.  He had a nice flick.  But then he went nuts.   I thought EE would have put out more shit but like someone on here said he kinda more went the 'male model' route.  Tom Penny (even tho hes easily the goat already with what he did)  Booze crack and H.

Evan Hernandez. I remember reading an interview a long time ago about him and he said that skating by yourself was boring, which isn't a crazy thought and a lot of people would agree with. I just thought he had so much potential since he was so young and so good. I think he got sponsored only after 1 year of skating and turned pro pretty quick. For whatever reason, he just never really reached his potential.

Is it because his potential is unlimited? /s

2nd vote would be for PJ. sometimes it is a fine command of the english language to say nothing and he extended that to skating. PJ's plan B part is the emperor's new clothes.

Andrew Gordon was so good, what a natural. Rowley got stoked on him from a sequence , kickflip back lip maybe,  in  a Concrete Powder ?

Jeremey could never find the cool enough board sponsor to be taken seriously enough by most I feel.  His part in the first invisible video...first part I believe?  It was a standout to us kids.  I guess tree fort was probably his hippest board sponsor, I agree though, dude looked great on a skateboard when many didn't and it certainly wasn't mandatory or something you could get by on.

Tis he! Victor was destined for greatness but disappeared faster than you can say Billy Waldman.

I saw him skate around a year ago. He still could put out a boyish-level part, but he looked like he was just having fun with his mates.

Might I add:

counter-counter-counterpoint = what tricks are left for him to do in order to live up to your perceived potential for him?  he about did em all in that part.

John Rob Moore, not that he didn't have amazing parts, but just that he never made it into the skate industry out of AZ really.
