this video was amazing. i don't care how you feel about the baker dudes or beagle's filming/editing, this shit was awesome. figgy can't go without getting soty for this. i almost don't really want to even post spoilers because of how fucked it is but, i will anyway. here's a few.....

riley hawk skates to cornupoia by black sabbath & frys some brains. baca & nuge share a part. shane heyl surprises the shit out of you. reynolds get's called 'rick reynolds'. you will enjoy this video to the fullest and it should cost money to be honest. it's a real feel good video. there's nothing to complain about at all with this one. i've made myself not expect too much with videos anymore so i don't get bummed but, this one was way longer, & better then i even expected or hoped to and everyone has grips of footage. get hyped.

braydon surprised me the most in this for the nine months he had to film.
dollin/kennedy have the shortest clips in this from what i remember.
there's a whole ode to wilshire (they placed giant yellow poles in front of it as skate-stoppers) to a bone-thugs song that had everyone at the premiere laughing.
i can't wait to see who gaps over those poles, you can't stop skateboarders.

Overall I'd say it was a "pretty good" video. If I didn't see Reynolds blatantly say it's the product of only 9 months of filming and not a real video like most of the people at the premier thought, I'd have been more let down. The intro made me smile and really hyped the video up then I thought it kind of fell short more often than not.

- Reynolds hands down gets my vote for best line in the video at that Guy Mariano video days LA spot. Reynolds 5 or so tricks were some of the best in the video. Best fakie varial heel of all time
- Lenoce with a boss fakie inward heelflip.
- Sammy/Nuge part rules.
- Dollin only has 2 tricks
- Herman is getting a tad comfortable
- Braydon surprisingly had more footage than almost all of the other established pros on the team
I know this is just a fun free video that was thrown together after 9 months, but there just wasn't enough footage of the guys I care about and too much footage of the guys I couldn't care less about.
As much as Figgy no doubt slaughtered spots I just can't get myself to care about him. I've tried, doesn't work. His kickflip fs 50-50 on the thin round double kink rail is hands down one of the best tricks in the video, along with his k-grind ender.
I wouldn't go calling Figgy SOTY over that part, but that's just me. It'd be between David Gonzales and Guy Mariano in my mind.

The whole video is good, but kind of just built around introducing Riley and letting Figgy run for SOTY.
Brian Herman had my favorite footage. Whole video is solid, all the same. Except you have to deal with Shane Heyl and the like yelling into the camera and being rock stars. Other than that, awesome video.
A re-edit with just the skateboarding footage would be pretty awesome.

thrasher said themselves they are putting it on the website a week or two after the mag comes out. That way the people who actually subscribe/purchase the mags get priority to seeing it, then everyone else gets to watch it.

Seriously. I dont even have a local skateshop so I drove 35 minutes to another towns skateshop. Its $5 bucks and well worth it for a killer video and good pooping material to read. Dont be cheap guys.
I still cant get over how gnarly Figgys part was. Its absurd how hard he shredded. CJs last trick was bonkers, and Rileys part was my favorite. Everyone else had some rad stuff as well. No disappointments.

Good flick. Liked Figgy's line with the grind on the mcdonalds rail and then the orange bus, and the other one downtown. I think those lines gave him an edge over David, some diversity was good to see. Also liked Riley's part, and how burnt he looked the whole time. Baca is a main attraction, and his part was really well done. I wish Spanky would smoke more cigs, seeing as how Drehobl is his favorite skater, but I'd let him dance with my wife at the bar, he seems alright. Didn't think that Theotis's long manny had much value to be put in his part, but whatever, I'll know who to skip when I get the dvd. Also, don't really need to see any more from Lenoce, but I've been a long time fan, and he had an interesting career. His jump roping was cool. Heyl's part showed an influence of German Expreissionism ala Spike Lee, and he sort of skates like he was filming for Baker Bootleg. On the fence about his part. The postmodern skating of Bradon shows influence of Van Wastell, and I like the connection, although I feel sort of stating it as Van is my personal all time fav, and I don't generally like Bradon at all. TK has really grown into having a bad style over the years. Reynolds was good to see. Dee had some interesting stuff, but my main interest was CJ and Riley. Glad they made this, and good to see Slash having a blast at the sessions and filming. I wonder how many VX's Beagle has had. Also, surprised that Neckface carve grinded over a box. Good job Baker, it should be a lucrative holiday season for you!

I liked Riley Hawk's part, Reynold's Footy, Herman, Cyril Jackson, and Figgy.
Not to be a hater, but Theotis seems to do the same tricks over and over. Shane Heyl looked promising from that first front noseslide, but then every trick was a noseslide or crook variation.

Overall a really good watch! Reynolds putting out quality instead of quantity (as always one might add). Riley with a killer part! Baca and Nuge were awesome. TK suprised me with that ledge nbd. From the short parts I think I liked Lenoce and Braydon the most. CJ has one legit back 3.
Figgy obviously killed it. However, as good as that part was I feel like he had more fillers in there (for his very own standards of course) than David. I hate to compare the two, but let's face it, it is all about that SOTY crap. That's why they put out their videos at the end of the year in the first place. I feel like David just annihilated anything in his path whereas Figgy lacked something of that. For me, David as SOTY is a no brainer. Only Guy could take it from him...

As far as I know, David's part was filmed exclusively in 2012 as well. If I remember correctly, he was recovering from some gnarly ankle injury for the better part of 2011.
Just watched the video again and I gotta say, Riley Hawk's part is the fucking truth. He rips anything: rails, stairs, gaps, ledges (heelflip noseblunt!) and I'd almost go as far as saying he's the best guy at street transitions out there at the moment. Figgy's part's also pretty rad but I think I'll watch Riley's part way more often in the future.

Figgys part was insane and all of you pussies need to learn to respect the things you dont have (balls). Figgys part was definitely better than David Gonzalez's part and though I really liked David Gonzalez's part it really cant be compared to figgys. Figgy put out a 6 minute video of straight bangers and hardly any slow mo while Davids part was 4:30 and was filled with slowmo, second angles, and mini ramp footage. Not hating on David because he seriously put out one of the gnarliest skate video part of all time but figgy straight killed it. And seriously Figgy did do really creative handrail skating that I havent seen before. Its funny how when Guy Mariano does some cool new ledge dancing tricks everybody acts like he's some creative mastermind while guys like figgy do crazy shit and put their lives on the line and people aren't sure that hes on the same level of other SOTYs. Luckily the SOTY decision isnt for any of you to decide and Figgys probably going to get what he deserves.

They didn't promote those other parts for months, throw them giant parties with theater premieres, and dedicate almost an entire issue of Thrasher to them. Besides, a caption on Thrashers website flat out said "David started the SOTY race.".
I was more mind blown after watching David's part than Figgy's the first time. I guess my vote is still for him.

Part of that relates to the timing of their sponsors' projects, but it also takes a lot of work to get an soty trophy these days. Leo's board and she sponsors both released videos the year he got it. We weren't drowning in mj coverage until ff was close to release. Grant rips, but he went on like every thrasher trip last year for the maximum dose of phelpage possible. That type of shit just doesn't come together for everyone every year, and its unreasonable to expect it to. Silas is in every Adidas clip, cole is competing a lot, Daewon keeps putting out ridiculous amounts of crazy footage. It's good for different skaters to get it every year.

I just watched figgy's part and yeah it was sick like really sick, but not SOTY worthy. Maybe it's just been overhyped but other than the huge krooked and a couple of other noteworthy handrail tricks his part wasn't that enjoyable.

"Stunt" skating with zero creativity and high difficulty-danger is not my thing, i respect those who do it but i wouldnt watch that part again especially if the stunts are down the same CA spots i ve seen a million times before. So in other words i liked that hawk kid and the nuge-Baca section.
Also another thing. I always found the hijinx of Baker crew funny and entertaining when i was younger but the last 3-4 years they re getting into my nerves. I mean some of dudes are like 25 years old or more and act like 16 year olds. Its a heavy situtation of second hand embarrassment.

I picked up a copy this weekend and I can't complain since it came with one of the better Thrasher issues I've read in awhile. Riley Hawk killed it... it was the first time I saw that kid skate. The boss had some sick clips. Ol' dirty Sza had some sick shit in there that I wasn't expecting from him which was cool. Herman... Spanky... they had some nice clips as well. And Figgy just went bonkers. I blew it by flipping through the mag first which ended up giving away some of the heavier tricks in the vid.
