People glorifying the 90's. The only reason it was probably great to you is because it was a time when you had less responsibility, you could skate with your friends everyday all day and it was when you were just discovering skateboarding.

I'm sick of there being anything other than skaters at a skatepark.  BMX sucks.

Here's a trend in skateboarding I'm tired of(f):

18 year olds posting on message boards about how 2003 was the glory days.  Do you know how stupid you sound?

You are welcome.

Maybe not necessarily a trend, but temper tantrums. I understand getting frustrated if you're having trouble landing something, but starting to yell and throw your board and kick stuff is not going to make you fucking land it. It's a huge problem at these two skateparks I go to, and it's almost always kids from like 12-16. This one kid a few months ago couldn't have been older than 14, and kept screaming and throwing his board all over the place because he couldn't stick a treflip on a bank. One of the times he threw the board, it hit me in the shin, so I carried it over to him and told him to chill out, and he started trying to fight me. Stupidest shit ever. I made it my goal to snake him the rest of the day.
[close]

fucks sake

similar thing happned to my friend two weeks ago, kid got rage and threw his board, bounced off a ledge and hit my friend in the knee. only my friend wasnt as nice as you, he picked up the kids board waited for the kid to walk over them threw the board as far as he could into some bushes. the kid was about to go on a rage fit at my friend, so my friend cut him off and said calmly "sssssh, stop bieng a dick and have fun"

also half an hour later i saw him about to rage after missing a heelflip down a 3set first try (so what) then he looked over at my friend, looked embarrised and sat down. kids need to learn its about having fun
[close]

Looks like I'm the biggest dick of them all. A kid was having a temper, threw his board and it hit me, so I just threw it back at him.

Didn't feel bad.
Broke the little brats board because he did it not once, but twice. Board was thrown and hit me both times in my ankle. Gave not a single fuck.

What?! There are plenty of awesome parts with hip-hop in them. I love a good hip-hop song in a video part.

*You turn 25, and you're reminiscing about high school with your friends.*

You- Man, remember high school? Good times.
Friend- Ugh, you're stupid. At that time everyone who is 30 now was done with high school! You can't talk about how those times were "the good times".

DC shoes and there corporate take over there trying to pull on the skateboarding world.
[close]
Get your facts straight,  DC started out as a skate shoe company and ONLY a skate shoe company so really, they're not trying to take over skateboarding. If you're going to say that about any company, say it about Nike
fuck dc and fuck you

not really a trend 'in' skateboarding but in melbourne its become really popular for all this faggy teenagers and pre teens to ride around on tiny little plastic penny cruisers.
[close]

those things are fucking dope though.
I'll take 'em over longboarders anyday.
[close]

you dont understand what these kids are like.
[close]

wow yeah they are dope my first skateboard was one of those plastic cruisers, back when I wasnt even into skating

yeh they are actually really radd,  I live in Melbourne and work in a skate store that sells em,  I know what its like, but i also know how fun it is riding them around and doing little tres or inward heels.  make the simple tricks feel awesome and quriky.  that being said i still wouldnt buy one. But i do try and sell them over longboards

Vulcanized shoes.

I need more protection for my twiddle-toes! A thin slice of fabric glued to a slab of rubber isn't enough!

It has been hard to find interesting footwear in today's market ever since the slip-on vans styled shoe has become the norm.

+ Fashion-wise, skateboarding has become some type of emo-subculture by mainstream standards.

I see a lot of non-skaters wearing the "uniform" and it is wack! Beanie+Plaid+vulcs/SB's+skinnyminis+Poutylook!

I need to find some SmolikActionGear and enlighten the ignorant!

+People on longboards who can't skate are GARGANTUAN GOONS!

I agree.  I think the vulc trend is finally dying a very, very slow death.  P Rod, Chris Cole, Muska, and Dyrdek all have cupsole pro models that came out recently.  I am aware that some of these guys are kooks, but my point is the tide is shifting.

I think any generation has their "glory" days. That statement can even go into other cultures also. You might see the 90s as the the good ol days and the guys older than you can call the 80s the good ol days? You see where i'm getting at? If the slap boards were around the 90s, you would see those pool sharks complaining how much they hate your big big pants, little wheels, and your stupid flip tricks.

I'm 17 and first watched Video Days when I was 11, I was then, and still am, stoked on it. Should I stop watching it and liking it because i'm 'too young to appreciate it?'. Maybe you should stop listening to music, watching films and reading books from before you were born. Bullshit.

People bitching about vulc shoes.
Just don't buy them, it's not that hard.
There are plenty of cupsole shoes.

It'd be pretty cool if complaining in general died out.

There are plenty of cupsoles, but the influence of the skate-slipper is affecting their design.

DC is practically the only brand on the market that continues to provide the bulky/tech style of shoe that I prefer to utilize.

I mean, when Circa is selling a lifestyle boot, you know things are out of control!
