A Man Called Ove. Swedish film, heartwarming stuff.

Also rewatched Double Indemnity, there’s no way I’ll ever get tired of that film.

Just saw they added Apocalypto to Peacock. It was almost impossible to find before that. You couldn't even find it to buy on DVD on Amazon. The last 30 minutes of that movie are incredible.

Just got done watching Bram Stoker's Dracula. What a wonderfully horny and insane maximalist film. Keanu is doing the worst English accent ever but Gary Oldman is so unhinged and pulsing with manic sexual energy.

Think it could be the last of the non CGI greats. (Well of movies that would be made with cgi)

tar was great, saw it last weekend with my wife

was funny to get home and read reviews after the fact that were all glowing, and then compare to the review in the new yorker that was insanely salty, as the movie does mock that crowd

Gotta go back and rewatch Banshees of Inisherin. Had a few distractions going on but overall I was loving it and worth another ticket

The stranger. It’s on Netflix. Recommend watching it with no information. It’s dark, but not violent. Really intense, great performances.

I too watched that the other month. Feels like there are a lot of "Must see" famous movies I still need to check off.

I went out to the movies last night with the woman and saw "Bones and All"

Interesting concept but it felt a little empty and stretched out too long with a kind of cop-out ending.

Documentary on an Appalachian snake cult from the '70s. Never seen a church service go so hard. The people might be a little weird though.

The baseball bat scene is the most horrific scene I've ever seen. Being forced to watch your sibling get brutalized like that is terrifying.

The Game starring Michael Douglas. From like 1997.
Holy shit, what a mindfuck. Every time I thought I knew what was going on I'd get the rug ripped out from under me.
Definitely don't look up spoilers if you haven't seen it.

^Fukn coincidence I just watched the game too.

Also Dutch movie called bumperkleef (tailgate) won't necessarily say it was good good but it was something/interesting. Kinda a little bit wolfcreek, road games type of thing. Basic as it gets there's a bad guy after some good guys altho unfortunately the good guys are a Dutch family that literally screeches at each other for the entire duration of the film. Apart from that it alright pretty fast paced etc

I don't know why I slept on Tubi for so long, but they actually have a lot of great underground films, particularly tons of rare Italian horror and Spaghetti westerns, stuff that I would have paid a fortune for and been almost impossible to track down a few years ago.

Been watching all of the Sartana series of westerns lately, gonna go through all the Djangos when I'm done with those.

I'm sure it was discussed in here and I'm late to the party, but I finally watched NOPE over the weekend. That scene with the Gordy the monkey absolutely crushed me in the strangest way. I felt such empathy for Gordy.

Theres a newish movie called meander which is supposed to be a kind of like a new cube.

Tubis cool when you find a good vein of movies. Gotta get a pen and paper cos sometimes it's hard to refind stuff (that's also maybe just me having a shit memory for names). Also a bunch of skate videos on there

Eh, Meander's not that great imho. It kind of...meanders off in a bunch of different directions haha.

Exam, The Platform (El Hoyo), and Circle are all pretty decent and in a similar vein.

Here's some good movies I've watched recently

A Separation
Like Father Like Son
Days of Being Wild  (most of the Wong Kar Wai filmography is on HBO Max right now)

Also if anyone liked Parasite I strongly recommend watching Memories of Murder and Mother (Maeda) by the same director.

Jacob Ladder, the OG one. Amazing movie. I think the fact that it’s dated make it more unsettling. There’s something about 80-90s horror that has a more liminal feel to it.

Also All Quiet on Western Front was top tier, haven’t seen that good of a war movie since Dunkirk.
