Amadeus (Director's Cut). I had seen it once before and don't remember the nude scene so I guess that's what makes it a "director's cut".

City of God is being screened out in the Eagle Rock area for anyone interested. It's tonight at 7:30. I'd go but none of my friends are down and it's a bit of a trekk for a solo movie night for me. Wish I lived closer.

Here's the link to tix if you live close

Has anybody here been to the Vidiots theater yet?

They say they have capabilities for 35mm but everything I've ever seen listed as screening there has been DCP.

That booth is 100% certified legit by a projectionist (me) but I didn't realize the operation was open until today. They did a really amazing job and it musta cost a bag.

The reason they aren't running 35mm yet is likely that their attendance isn't coming close to covering what the rental fees for the prints would be. The schedule is filled with popular movies so they are likely feeling out what kind of movies hit with their audience. Even Cinefamily mixed and matched and wasn't always all prints.

Yeah, as far as I know, only The New Bev is dedicated to 35mm and everywhere else, even American Cinematheque, mix it up btwn film and digital.

I saw "To Live and Die In LA" at the Aero this past w/e on digital and "The Conversation" at Brain Dead in 35mm.

It seems like the Vidiots theater has a good selection of films they're screening, so perhaps I should give it a chance.

It blows my mind that there is even a single print of The Incredibly Strange Creatures... let alone that there is a place running it.

lol were you at that last night? I was there but left after "Spider Baby". They said the second film was missing the opening credits and the first dance number and that it would be one of the last times that the reels would ever be capable of screening. I guess they had one of the main actresses in attendance too.

No I wasn't there but that sounds like a typical eventful New Bev screening. I just happened to see it listed on the IG account Atiba linked and was like damn how can a print of that even exist? Too bad to hear it's on its last legs. It totally feels like it was shot on their days off from making hardcore porno loops.

Ah good call.  Should have put that on one of my top 5s

I always loved how salty Salieri got whenever I’d watch that movie as a kid.

I also love Mozart’s laugh in the movie.

I’ve called people Salieri as an insult because of that movie.

The hilarious injustice of the movie was forever framing him as the jealous guy when in reality (apparently) that wasn’t at all the nature of their relationship

Oh I know. F. Murray Abraham played the part well.

Other injustice is all people tend to remember F. Murray Abraham for is Salieri and being the guy who got hung from the helicopter in Scarface.

He’s actually been pretty active lately.  I think Homeland kinda reinvigorated his career.   He was in Mythic Quest and White Lotus.   But yeah, Salieri will always be his most famous role

Titanic

I watched that for the first time when they did the re-release last year and they establish right when Jack and Rose are in the water that if he gets on the raft thingy, it’ll start to sink.   It annoys me that it became some kind of meme that he could have fit bc people don’t remember this earlier scene

Good call.  Def see it before Dumb Money as Creator is a good big screen movie and DM wouldn’t lose anything based on screen size (enjoyed it too though)

The new Benicio Del Toro movie Reptile was solid, pretty much love anything that dude does. Streaming on Netflix
