I had a pair of Axions (I forget the model) and remember going up to London to see Spineshank play.
After me and my then G/F used to hand out flyers for clubs for free drinks. All night my foot was killing me. Anyway I wake up hungover the next morning, look at my foot and all the back of my heel is cut to shit, inside the lining was this huge bit of metal (and not the good nu metal kind I'd experienced the night before).
Pretty sure I binned them that day.

All of the old brands that Kareem started have all been revamped without him, and they’ve all failed horribly. I’d love to see Axion return to its former glory, but we all know that isn’t happening. What I wanna know is who tf is funding these projects? Do people have so much money that they’re willing to throw it into guaranteed dumpster fire business ideas? Guy and Gino are Nike’d out at this point, same with BA, and Kareem isn’t a part of it so we’re guaranteed to get zero KCK reissues, so where’s the appeal? Throwing three skaters who’s names don’t sell many boards who all have an aesthetic that’s the antithesis of what Axion was isn’t exactly a marketing agent’s wet dream.
I skated lots of Axion’s way back when. The KCK’s, Millennium’s, KC 2000’s, and the Mariano’s with the rubber toe cap were all great shoes, and I’d 100% buy them if they stuck to retroing old models exclusively. And they have to be exactly as they were, no omitting air bags bc “bro it’s too expensive, bc business man.”

I think NOT slimming down early 2000s shoes is what’s dumb. Bulky shoes suck, especially for skating. They’re slimmed down because we’ve smartened up since then. The people dying to look like they’re stuck in 1999 should just hit up Globe and DVS - they still make their puffy monstrosities.

I never had them but I remember seeing them back then. I'm impressed with these new versions of the Carroll and I think I may actually skate them, which wasn't the plan.

As an Axion fan, I am bummed about this. The original Axion was everything. This 3rd time around with these bums on the team and cutting it. Originally yes, but Axion also had a few KCK models as well.
I think there’s a Chinese company who currently makes Duffs KCK’s, without variation.

It’s weird to see such nostalgia for Axion, one of the least celebrated skate shoe brands of the early 2000’s next to Duffs. I had the Officials in navy suede and regretted getting them because even when they were fairly new, the tread/grip was nonexistent. I remember slipping like crazy playing basketball in gym class wearing those. Nobody really cared about Axion back then and I’m pretty sure my friends told me to buy them as some kind of hazing or something.

All of the old brands that Kareem started have all been revamped without him, and they’ve all failed horribly. I’d love to see Axion return to its former glory, but we all know that isn’t happening. What I wanna know is who tf is funding these projects? Do people have so much money that they’re willing to throw it into guaranteed dumpster fire business ideas? Guy and Gino are Nike’d out at this point, same with BA, and Kareem isn’t a part of it so we’re guaranteed to get zero KCK reissues, so where’s the appeal? Throwing three skaters who’s names don’t sell many boards who all have an aesthetic that’s the antithesis of what Axion was isn’t exactly a marketing agent’s wet dream.
I skated lots of Axion’s way back when. The KCK’s, Millennium’s, KC 2000’s, and the Mariano’s with the rubber toe cap were all great shoes, and I’d 100% buy them if they stuck to retroing old models exclusively. And they have to be exactly as they were, no omitting air bags bc “bro it’s too expensive, bc business man.”

eS doesn’t even technically have a team or has that changed? I don’t think either has the money to pry skaters away from the big 3 or 4. So who else would they put on their team? Asking honestly. Axion is going to sink or swim like eS on a combo of nostalgia releases and new designs. They nailed imo the Guys and it remains to be seen for the rest. They’ve been around for 1 season so I think it’s a bit too early to render final judgment.

I always wondered if some of the popular pros on purpose wrote the wrong name on a trick from a picture, to show that they didn't care. That they where to cool to write the correct trick. The FTC book that came out some years back is full of
errors when they named the various tricks.

To keep a team you need to pay them which means making money from selling product. To sell product based on nostalgia you need to make sure it's something people actually have nostalgia for. I don't think apart from a couple Instagram accounts who still jerk it in food court shoes anyone's even pretended to be interested in an axion comeback
