Wow I didn't know they can choose any obstacle to skate. Atleast they rotate sets so someone just can't rifle off 5 go to tricks down the 4 block.

First shot of Monica from the back, I thought it was Dill.

I like that offense and defense take turns, prevents a complete blow out. Not sure if I'm completely sold on the "any obstacle goes" format, could be too much of a good thing. But seeing someone 360 flip the 3 block in 1 try is insane.

In agreement with both of these takes. Totally enjoyed the game but was kind of disgusted by that finishing move. And yeah, I've seen people 36o flip like that with their foot way off the back, but i've never seen anybody kickflip like that - wild!

Cata Diaz in the background at 6:44.
Kind of a shame it was finished on a flatground trick, feels like the judges were overly strict on some of the ledge tricks but I'll take that over the BATB BS.

It's crazy the way Peter's legs go when he falls sometimes, it looks so painful. That kickflip save was fuckin sweet

Petars skating is awesome! Great style. Some of those falls looked so hectic, but I guess the spots also look much bigger than they are. Would it actually hurt less to slam when you're smaller but still have a bunch of muscle?

Petar's drop in of the sculpture was probably the gnarliest thing I've ever seen done at MACBA. someone make a gif of that. Had he done that before, perhaps? I'd love to see it shot differently in an actual part.
It's kinda even sicker that he did it in the environment he was in though; during a high profile game of skate being recorded to be posted online. Takes serious onions man. Almost cost AB his too, that second bail was ugly.

has more to do with your overall max vertical height + most peoples lack of willingness to practice switch ollie. tiago's vertical is just way higher than most skaters, its probably comparable to olympic atheletes. it only takes you like 3-4 years of skating to reach your max height ollie, there is actually zero reason you cant do the same with switch, its just very few people are willing to put in the work.
i neglected switch for 20 years of skating until finally this year decided i am going to do it. could not switch ollie up a curb at the beginning of the year.
my biggest ollie recorded on skateboard is 32" (highway barrier) so im not quite half way there yet but pretty close... hoping by next year can get to 75%. but yeah for me to improve that 32" ollie would take a lot of work. it sounds like a pretty weak ollie compared to world record of 45" but i actually have a pretty decent ollie lmao just shows you how athletic some of these guys are

true, you can tell, both of these guys wanted to win. Thiagos trusts his insanely good pop and that is all he needs to win ... bnut damm, I wanted more flatground-tricks from him. his fs flip after his sw ollie was a thing of beauty.

unsportsmanlike conduct
-
Look silly for having an insane pop? Get the fuck out here, plus his defensive game was on point he almost had every justin trick, meanwhile the other dude needs to practices more basic skateboarding… Should the guy only do tricks that his opponent knows? On the other battle a dude pulls a nollie heel down the big3 against a little dude that already passed on the nollie and I don’t see anyone crying about it.
This is a battle, nobody goes to a battle with weapons that they are not comfortable with and NOBODY enters a battle to lose specially when there’s money on the line.
So stop crying and start appreciating the most beautiful trick in skateboarding, an Ollie!

When I saw the pairing I was worried he might get kicked out in the first round because Sommer is insanely consistent (and I want to see as much of Tiago skating as possible, no offence to Justin). Tiago did what he had to to win it. Still made him look like a total dick though.

That's my issue with the "any obstacle counts format", guys will stick to whatever they excel in and will just trade letters. There's much less back and forth between the skaters, ie both battling out 1 ledge trick like in SLIDES / GRINDS.
Still entertaining, but I would put rules like only 1 landed trick per obstacle per skater to prevent them from working within their comfort zone.
Also, insane how these guys are doing huge tricks 1st try down the big 3. First a 360 flip, now a FS Flip like it was barely an inconvenience.

I just felt kind of sorry for Justin when he had to try that sw ollie and sw noseslide. Like I know I ain´t got it but I have to make it look like I try and not look too stupid.
But I´m not mad at Tiago. It´s just the way he skates and that ollie together with the sculpture drop earlier from Petar already made this a million times more entertaining than all of batb combined.

Tiago wasn't flexing - he was doing what he is doing best.
Basic tricks as macho as possible. And I love it.
may Justin Sommer is under your guys radar.
this match could have been the final one. Justin is really, really good.
Both Tiago and Justin would have the potential to win the whole game.
So Tiago was in need to use some "unfair" tricks he knows Justin couldn't do them..
Justin have played his card as well - he absolutely know not to do a 360 flip down
the 3 stairs - because Tiago is more consistent with treflips then with fronside flips.
Be aware - all Tricks Justin have done - Tiago was near to get them...
I really like the format - going all over the full plaza -showing all possibilities of MACBA,
and your own creativity. And both Justin and Tiago are great skaters.
really looking forward for the next rounds.

I’m a big Tiago fan but his approach kind of rubbed me the wrong way tbh. Yeah Justin only skate stairs but he was doing stuff that Tiago or anyone else for that matter would have a chance at trying and/or landing. Tiago was doing huge pop shit which for Justin were actually physically impossible to execute. This became obvious right from the start so when Tiago just kept going back it it just takes any of the competition right out of it and repeatedly causes Justin to feel foolish. Just seems really tone deaf and a bit dickish to me. Hopefully Tiago wasn’t doing it on purpose. As others have said “anything is game and it’s a competition” but again knowing full well your opponent literally lacks the ability to jump that high and then just repeatedly doing it over and over is fairly distasteful imo…

Perfectly summed up my thoughts on it. It's cool he can pop that high switch, but sort of misses the point. scrub mentality. the contest judge has no opinion on what you consider "honorable" or "cheap". if you ever plan on doing anything competitive in your life, you need to lose that attitude immediately. everyone has their abilities on a skateboard, you need to stay in your lane and do what you do best. its like you are working on a house, not 1 guy in there knows how to do every job. you need the electrician, framer, plumber, all them ninjas to play their position...
honestly if you ask me, that fakie blind bigspin was a dirty trick but tiago made it! dude only hit 2 spots where tiago hit tons, more of a real "King of MACBA" if you ask me! the fact he can hit stuff other people are not capable of is not tiago's fault rather it's his opponent's. asking him not to play to his strengths is just silly and weird

Trent's switch back 180 over the wall was incredible. Blake's skating is ALWAYS enjoyable to me and that late shove was sick. Back to back nollie flips? Best game yet by far.

I’ve played competitive sports my whole life. This isn’t some Comp for a million dollar first prize. If you’re unable to see the nuance in our assessment, then I’d say you might lack a little tact and sportsmanship. We could compare this to a game of rec basketball. If a team is dunking all over the other team, there usually comes a time where they take a step back and chill out in it a bit, when it becomes clear the other team can’t defend. This is common across all sports at basically every level aside from maybe the very top. It’s called sportsmanship. Sure some teams just keep pounding, but then they’re acknowledged as dicks across the board. That’s all we’re pointing out. This isn’t some cut throat battle to the death.

I’m willing to bet you never played any division college sports. Not an insult (it’s a skating message board so who cares), but your mentality screams keyboard pundit.
The “nuance” here is that, despite what you’ve written, this contest is for money and does actually exist in some interval between “a game of rec Basketball” and “some cutthroat battle to the death.”
Never mind that everyone is failing to mention that Justin only tried tricks down stairs. His trick selection was just as monotonous as Tiago’s, but with less unique obstacles involved.
One dude went up, the other went down.
If you condition on that, it’s impossible to call either’s conduct sportsmanlike (or not) without holding the same criticism for both.

Well, Tiago was able to do all of Justin's tricks. Really close even.

I felt the same way about the dude doing the nollie heal down the big 3 against Petar for the final trick when Petar already made it clear he can't physically even nollie down it earlier in the game. Was a dirty way to end the game IMO.
Petar is gnarly. But the other dude was
Pretty accommodating. Sure getting smoked
On the drop in made him Just want to want to end it.

Also Tiago stuck everything Justin set - Justin wasn’t close to Tiago’s tricks.

It'S a GaMe BrO! Peeps just wanna win, deal with it.

After watching all the episodes so far, I cannot stand when they have a moment of saying "that counts right?" With a moment of judgment because the person tick tacked a little after landing or did a revert 10 ft after landing with no to touch or scraping of any kind. Of course that shit counts, nothing to debate

scrub mentality. the contest judge has no opinion on what you consider "honorable" or "cheap". if you ever plan on doing anything competitive in your life, you need to lose that attitude immediately. everyone has their abilities on a skateboard, you need to stay in your lane and do what you do best. its like you are working on a house, not 1 guy in there knows how to do every job. you need the electrician, framer, plumber, all them ninjas to play their position...
honestly if you ask me, that fakie blind bigspin was a dirty trick but tiago made it! dude only hit 2 spots where tiago hit tons, more of a real "King of MACBA" if you ask me! the fact he can hit stuff other people are not capable of is not tiago's fault rather it's his opponent's. asking him not to play to his strengths is just silly and weird
If you condition on that, it’s impossible to call either’s conduct sportsmanlike (or not) without holding the same criticism for both.
this here be the difference between skaters and 'athletes'
skating aint all about the 'win by any means neccesary' mentality, kids. go back to football

I see it as being just a little subconscious gesture of gamesmanship. Like “I’m not trying to squeak one past you, don’t be afraid to call me on some questionable shit. I won’t count a trick, no matter how ludicrous it might be, if you don’t want to count it because I would rather lose than have my honor come into question whatsover”

I got the opposite vibe then some of you. It seemed like Justin is the type of skater who wants to "win" more than Tiago and Tiago just kind of went with it.

Wow. I already didn't like Jorge's vibe but that was the nail in the kook coffin right there. If your hand was so hurt you probably wouldn't use the same hand to grab your board by the trucks and huck it. What a chump.

Maybe he got a call from Carlos Riberio?!
-
Dammmmn, raging that game got cut short, I don't think the guy 'rage quit', he went down like a bag of shite onto his wrist/hand, maybe it was already a bit dodgy and he didn't wanna carry on and make it worse

You can hear the crunch when he landed on his wrist, it’s a shame but can’t blame him

Macba life left a comment on the vid saying that there was glass all over the ground as well, and that Jorge cut himself on a piece. Guess that plus hurting his wrist made him call it.

I think a pebble got into his hand?

*or a shard of glass, according to Madam I'm Adam

why are they just skating with glass on the ground?

Fuck. That was fitting to be an amazing game. Maybe his wrist was cooked and he couldn’t stress/relax wank before the game.
Both of them are beasts. Shame.

Why don’t you like his vibe? Not trying to be his white knight but he’s a pretty down to earth and friendly dude…
As everyone said already, they literally explain in the comments that he hurt his wrist and got cut in a shard of glass… I don’t see any other reason for him to not continue the match.

My dislike is totally undeserved - sometimes you just don’t like the look of people, you know? But also, like I said, if his hand was really hurt I doubt he’d use the same hand to grab his board by the trucks and throw it. In general, I’m not down for people who spazz under any circumstance, especially in a public plaza full of other people, and especially during a game of SKATE. It’s immature. You can easily continue a game of SKATE with a sore hand, lol. I’ve slammed way harder than that and kept playing.

Must be the case.

This.
A grown adult throwing a tantrum is never a good look. Especially in public.
Rage-quitting a televised contest is a whole other level of immaturity.

If the injury is legit, I don't see anything wrong with him quitting, but choosing to include that clip of him tossing his board afterwards is in poor taste by the filmer and organizer. They could have just cut to black and gone to announce the winner.
In last years Grinds and Slides of of the finalist had a nasty arm injury and they cut to black, no shame in bowing out because of an injury.
-
Wow... Blake Johnson is fucking incredible... I tend to always forget that before watching him for whatever reason.
Blake Johnson is fucking beast. Never forget.
-
Too bad the game got cut short. Nassim with the first try switch flip over the wall, holy hell. Him against Tiago should be a good one.
-
For what it is worth, I've hung with Jorge for a few weeks here and there and he is super friendly to everyone and always happy.
I actually knew him to say hello to for years before but was always a bit wary as he has whatever the male version of Resting Bitch Face is called. He just naturally looks like he is in a mood when I think it is just him being focussed...
He came across as fine here right up until the editor included him tossing his board. That was odd to include. I don't know why they didn't just have him quickly explain on camera what had gone on.
I do know that this was shot while on a Plan B filming trip so he was probably pretty bummed at hurting his bad wrist/getting glass in his hand and putting a more important mission into jeopardy.
If I were him, I'd be pretty bummed at the organisers for not sweeping that shit out. I mean, that part has been hit in every single game so far...
-
If you think it’s kooky to get angry and throwing your board after hurting your wrist. You’re the kook
-
The editor left the raging board smash so we could all hear the subsequent
“All right boys, I’m done” via the wireless mic. It’s storytelling mannn
-
Yeah, that looked like rage quitting, but I did read the comment - not that many people will. Didn't know Nasim had it like that, dude is insane.
-

Thats what I mean though...coulda cut that and had Jorge explain why he's done.

Jorge's the homie, so I just DM'd him like a man and he just said that he got broke on that bail.
I think people are reading too much into it... He's not stupid, no reason for him to just quit cause he's angry. He regularly skates comps, it's not his first time dealing with competition pressure and it's not like he was doing bad either.
Like @KDP said, he probably didn't want to risk seriously hurting his wrist cause he has other priorities.
While I agree that throwing your board around is a bit extra, I've seen a lot worse from the friendliest people so that doesn't make automatically a kook...

Solid skating from both dudes. Thoroughly enjoyed this one!

Again, first try flip tricks on the 3 blocs is crazy
-
This might be my fav so far this year. Marek definitely earned some respect by insisting he re-do that trick even after the judge gave it to him. Great game!
-
Marek just showed how Jorge should have handled his situation - take a letter if your opponent does something you're worried about getting hurt on. You can easily still keep playing and there's a good chance the other guy wouldn't make you try huge shit once he realizes you're now playing with a minor boo boo ... and if he does, take the letter. You don't skate on your hands. No matter what Jorge's excuse is, him throwing his board with his "injured" hand shows it wasn't injured very badly, just superficial. You don't throw a board with the wrist you just injured unless it was very minor.
-
super sick. both of these guys are incredible.

How sick of a name is Alex Amor? Rolls right off the tongue and everything.

the poor man just threw his board once because he got hurt wtf are you all on about, that's not even a tantrum. Seems like everyone in this thread is an exemplar skater/human and never acted out in their life or made a fool out themself (wich is not even the case in the video).

You can fall on your wrist trying the simplest shit and make it worse, and he didn’t wanted to risk it… Also throwing your board right after doesn’t make it a superficial injury. I rolled my ankle 2 weeks ago and kept skating, cause I was still warm. Later that day I could barely walk. Seems like dudes need to start posting their X-rays and injury reports so they can stop living rent free in your head.

I know that - my phrasing could be a bit confusing but what I meant is if he was worried about falling on it again, he could just take a letter if a trick later on seemed risky. I'm not trying to make dude out to be some unredeemable asshole, just got rubbed the wrong way by that behavior. I've straight up abandoned friends who acted that way in the past, so I'm not gonna give someone I don't even know a break for it. Throwing your board with a hand you supposedly just hurt too bad to continue a game is like focussing your board with the ankle you just rolled. Your own analogy suggests he could have just kept playing. I'm sure dude isn't a dick, but I'll stand by my assertion that his actions were a bad look. Laugh it off, stick to mellower shit the rest of the game, I'm sure other dude would have been down to stay away from big shit from that point on, you could tell he was sympathetic at the end. ;)

I had fucked up my hands almost 2 years - nothing was broken or shit - just some kind of inflammation of the nerve.
if I was falling on my hand- or even bailing it was super painful... through the whole arm. I still could use my hand, work on the computer, write etc or throw my board away in anger... but it was painful in the whole arm - and skating was over after one slam/ bail at least for a week.
Dont judge people without walking in his boots.
Throwing around you board, and giving up a silly game give you a bad look - but all of us don't know what he is going through.
After I broke by foot i had a break for 9 month - and the hand curse was over.

Fortunato is mega talented.... Jesus
Gotta respect Adrien. He gave it a good go
-
Good game Hairy Pooper. ;D
-
Adrien tossing himself like a sack of potatoes out there, good game.
And holy fuck just watching their noseslides on the Tiago ledge made the ssbsts so much more insane. Watching Tiago was nothing vs imagining it while watching the noseslides haha
-
Sorry Adrien, but they couldn't allow those jeans to make it any further in the competition.
-
Those jeans were highly illegal.
-
I've never seen a game where anyone eats more shit than Adrien. By the heelflip at the end, it was borderline comical. His rollaway and curb dismount on that tre is like a Baker Maker, but if a Baker Maker was any make in a Primitive vid.
Yes, I'm high....
-
He just needs to rethink every single one of his fashion choices.
-
Adrien needs to rethink his tactics next time. Fortunato is a beast, loved all the additional clips of his post-make tricks.
Harry Lintell is so likeable that this game could have sucked and it would still be an enjoyable watch
-
He just needs to rethink every single one of his fashion choices.
I feel like it must be a deliberate choice at this point. Like some kind of elaborate Andy Kaufman like performative art joke.
The hair, the jeans, the black wheels. Every single bit of kit is as offensive as possible. No one's taste could be that bad, at the end of his career he's going to put out documentary that that chronicles the entire deception a la Joaquin Phoenix with I'm still here.

Or his taste IS that bad. Case in point, he broke his board, and of all the boards at MACBA to borrow, he chose what looks to be a Blind reaper board.

Nice Game
-
Tiago's pop is unbelievable. I laughed when he brought the chair to the stair set.
-
that was some game! although, I'd like to see Tiago chill with the monster pop tricks after the opponent already has so many letters - give the fans a longer show.
-
Nassim missed the switch ollie over a chair, so Tiago put the same chair before the stairs and did switch fs ollie...
-
Great game, but I have to agree at this point that Tiago should maybe chill on the massive pop tricks when he has such a big bag he can choose from. It was clear Nassim had no chance of clearing the chair and the set when he couldn't do the chair on flat. Toss one big pop trick in but then switch it up a bit. Then again, he always chokes in traditional contests so maybe he's stoked he has a clear advantage in this format.
-
Yeah, love the guy but it can come of a bit like bad sportsmanship. It's like a game of horse between a person who can dunk and someone who can't yet for some reason dunks are allowed. Wouldn't be surprised if outside props became KoM's malto-manual equivalent.
Good thing he didn't have a game against Petar, he could of just ollied over him to give Petar a letter, no-contest.
-
Fuck...how insane was tiago defense... he is the best, with a smile in his face.
-
That was fucking unbelievable.
-
Damn that was dope. Gotta say tho, I really do not like the format of the contest. Probably because I’m so used to traditional SKATE rules, but if you land your shit you go again!
-
It's a game of skate, so it's normal to try tricks your opponent might not be able to do. I don't see why it would be different this time. And Nassim seemed very stoked on doing a personal NBD (the fs nollie over the ledge). That was sick. It all seemed like it was in good fun.
-
Was rooting for Nassim after Thiago continuously flexed his pop, although I knew he’d lose.
Great game, although I felt the back t 270 shouldn’t have counted or at least been a redo
-
I get it about throwing out insane pop tricks... but it's not like doing weird pressure flip variations, late flips, late shuvs, etc. though. It's not like he did tricks nobody does although they are tricks only he can do basically.
-
Isn't there money on the line?
-
Nassim: I'm not doing the Switch FS 180 over the chair, I'm going to hurt myself
Also Nassim: Switch FS Flip the stairs first try
Holy fuck what a game!
-
wow. tiago might actually be the best skater alive. that sw 180 was crazy.
-
Tiago disrespectful with his pop
-
Tiago is amazing and he looks like the favorite to win the competition. I love how he does almost every defense truck thrown at him. I don’t recall him doing a switch frontside flip ever, yet he almost pulled it on a crazy spot.
-
tiago is actually the best ever
-
A game they can both be proud of. Amazing.
-
that was insane
-
Kinda wack that people get mad when a person does the thing they do best..... in a competition
-
Watching Tiago skate is just a pleasure.
Nassim was really good too -Nollie inward heel revert - and Tiago got it second try.
Switch frontside flip big stairs.
Heavy game.
Tiago is the King anyway. Not only King of MACBA
-
Kinda wack that people get mad when a person does the thing they do best..... in a competition
Agreed. And it’s the fundamental aspect of skateboarding.” How high can you Ollie bro ? “
Not high enough.
-
Tiago vs Fortunato should be a banger - both really consistent and go for the big obstacles.
-
I'm really hoping for a Tiago v Blake Johnson finale
-

I don't buy the "smiles all the time" persona, dude is being lame as fuck doing stuff he knows the opponent cannot possibly land and obviously wants to win bad enough to behave like that. Always liked Tiago but respect has plummeted watching these games.
-
So Tiago needs to only do tricks that his opponent might be able to land and not the tricks he is comfortable at doing?? Makes sense… ::)
-
Nah, that's the extreme interpretation people use to discredit an argument for good sportsmanship. He crossed the line for what is tasteful in my view.
-
Nah, that's the extreme interpretation people use to discredit an argument for good sportsmanship. He crossed the line for what is tasteful in my view.
He hasn’t. Everyone is doing what they can to win, Tiago just happens to be more consistent and capable of keeping up in defense. Nothing to hate on here.
-
its a competition

Yeah sure dawg… Nassim switch fs flipping that huge gap is peak sportsmanship ahah
Everyone is doing tricks they are good at and playing their strengths, now get over it.
-
Isn't there money on the line?
Dude 1 euro costs 7 reais here in Brazil, and the inflation is fucking overwhelming here RN. if i was Tiago and there's money on the table i'd be abusing my pop too.
-
Boo uneven game, the only logical things to do is to include this rule :
You are not alowed to pop your tricks, YOUR TAIL SHALL NOT TOUCH THE GROUND.
-
Stated my opinion, and no intention of dragging it out in a back and forth. We disagree, so what.
-
I kinda' wish Tyshawn was in this, be an ultimate showdown of pop between him and Tiago.

Fuck you....a short history from Tiago... I met the dude first time in a contest in Atibaia city in Brazil, he was pretty young and distroyed the park. while I was doing my basics flip croocks and dude was so hyped with me....Man, 5 years latter when he was on DC and saw me at SP centrão and said "Hy SwithfliP". Dude, 5 fucking years and Tiago remembered me...today he is comments almost every skate clips that I post in the gram...Tiago is the the truest.
-
It's a game of skate, so it's normal to try tricks your opponent might not be able to do. I don't see why it would be different this time.
Yeah but in these cases it's more like realising your opponent can't switch heel so doing switch heel nollie heel nollie fs heel nollie bs heel and switch double heel

I like the fact that Tiago is letting everyone know that you can have the craziest tricks but if you don’t know the basics, you won’t go far. I’ve seen some Japanese people doing crazy tricks at Sls but they can’t barely do some basic flatground.
You people need to start appreciate a good Ollie.
-
people are acting like he didn't land the craziest tricks when playing defense
from the top of my head:
switch bigspin heelflip
nollie inward heelflip backside 180
(both down the smaller set of stairs)
backside tailslide backside 360 out
stop trying to put 'crazy pop' into the 'double flip' category
-
The bad sportmanship take is laughable. Just sit back and enjoy that monster pop while it's around. Tiago is incredible.
-
my original comment was purely from a viewer standpoint. of course the skaters want to win at all costs.
that's why it is a good thing that the skaters get to alternate every try or else tiago would pull out that chair and throw 5 tricks over it and pocket the money

This is just one side of the coin.
List everything he have done in Defense!
Even in a „standard“ game of Skate he is pretty
unbeatable for a average skateboarder.
But what have the bigger value - being able to
to all fliptricks somehow in flat - or having a huge
bag of tricks and being able to to a good share of
them with style, speed and pop.
If I coud choose i woud take 20 tricks with speed style and pop over doing everything somehow only on flat.
-
It's ok if you don't like Tiago because he pops shit really high in a competition. Everybody else still does
-
I don’t understand the Tiago hate at all. If people had his skills on a skateboard they would be doing the EXACT same thing.
Tyshawn Vs Tiago in this format??…. Fuck that would be insane. Who you think would win????
-
For me, it's the second contest where someone has failed on a switch ollie over something which he then ups with a switch frontside 180 which does seem a bit cheap shot.
Otherwise, all good...
I gotta say; Nassim came off so humble in that. Was cool to see how hyped he was to make stuff he didn't think he could make like the switch noseslide.

That switch 180 over the chair and down the stairs was absurd. I'm not going to pretend I don't understand where the "abusing his pop" complaints are coming from but watching him skate is great. He was crazy good on the tricks he matched too.
I was surprised at how good Tiago's Spanish is too, I had no idea he could speak it.

If Nassim can throw out sw big heels, pressure flips and nollie inward reverts down sets I don't see why Tiago gets all the flak for throwing out basic tricks on tall obstacles.
Either way for being a relatively short game it was a lot of fun to watch, love seeing Tiago skate and the MACBA footy just makes it more enjoyable.

Could hardly contain my giggling watching Marek try wallies. Late shuv is a dumb one to end it on though
-
Damn, Marek was def having an off day
-
Dope final 4 left in this
-
damn, Blake Johnson is dope. It's definitely gonna be him vs Tiago for the title, or the top of their bracket
-
I love hearing Marek speaking English. His accent is golden.
I knew Blake Johnson was good, but I had no idea he had it like that. He’s one of those Venice guys, right?
-
Blake’s fakie flip over the hydrant was fucking perfection.
-
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6RsQHuitgKU
So Blake throw 2 wallies even tho Marek couldn’t land the first one and where’s the people that called tiago out for his switch fs Ollie over the chair after Nassim didn’t land the switch Ollie?
Bunch of fucking hypocrites…

I thought that was whack, although as someone said anyone should be able to do those wallies in 4 tries, especially someone of Marek’s calibre. Blake also saw he couldn’t front 3 and went for it over the hydrant…going for the throat!!
What a letdown of a game, Marek having a major off day
-
now imagine a game of tiago doing five nollie/switch tricks over the chair and blake doing five wallies ... do what you gotta do, but matching a trick is far more exciting
-
how is the wallie manual allowed? blake turns bs and marek’s is fs. seems kinda unfair. if he had 180’d to fakie manny, would marek have to do it the same but alley-oop? it seems like they still have holes in the layout of this game obviously, hence changing it this year and it already improving.
-
How'd this turn into a best smile in skating debate and why haven't Louie Lopez's beeming abilities been brought up yet? LLs the best beemer in skateboarding, hands down.

Man that was sick, both are absolute beasts, that switch ollie from Gabriel was so perfect.
-
Insane
-
Good game. I don't doubt Tiago was sincere in his appreciation of Gabriel matching him. Lame trick to end it on though.

Gabriel seriously almost had that though
-
crazy. using the hydrant under the bike rack was genious haha
-
Good game. I don't doubt Tiago was sincere in his appreciation of Gabriel matching him. Lame trick to end it on though.
the game was gnarly and evenly matched up until the last trick. Although, Gabirel was going for that monster ollie to tap, so Tiago had to go for the jugular (if anyone could match that last trick it was Gabriel)
edit: it's kind fun to pause the video before tricks to see how many apparent non-skaters line-up to see what the commotion is about and then cheer on and clap
-
tiago had me lol’in with his last two trick choices. absurd shit
-
There is no way to deny that Tiago doesnt deserve to win this. He is the most talented skater alive and this game is certainly displaying that. Holy shit. That heelflip and the almost on the body variel, wow! Would be dope to see a Gustav vs Tiago game though.
-
Well that confirms it Tiago won the lot, only guy that stood a chance was Gabriel.
Frustrating to see how big the crowd got, felt like it impacted the obstacles they were skating.
-
The true ender was that epic hug-to-end-all-hugs at the end. It was poetry in motion. Nothing better than a man that knows how to give a great hug.
-
Insane battle.
Thanks to everyone involved.
-
Tiago's consistency in skating is matched only by his consistency in outfit choice. Incredible game, both of them are unbelievably good.
-
that was the best one yet. they should bring gustav back next year and have him play tiago.
-
Was really hoping Gabriel would get that fat ass ollie. Would've loved to see Tiago go for it and probably do it majestically as fuck
-
I’d have enjoyed it more if Tiago hadn’t cheated and intentionally picked tricks he thought Gabriel couldn’t do. Talk about unsportsmanlike conduct.
-
Him crooked grinding the massive crusty ledge is all the marketing Indy needed to do all year.
Nollie BS Heel over the up and over that ledge was unreal, 1 try.
-

It‘s crazy to see Tiagos talent. It seems like he can do almost everything within two tries. he‘s really going in for winning this contest. He hasn’t tried this hard in street league for at least 5 years. Lol
-
I'm suprised no one has been hurt badly in these games yet. The level of skating haa been absurd. Also, is this all filmed on the same day or has Tiago been enjoying his time in Barcelona with the same outfit?
-

Gabriel really going easy on Tiago with that body varial and the ollie from the ledge over the stairs... So friendly ::)
Anyway, the game was insane. I started laughing at that crooked grind. Just absurd :o

Shit, I might have been caught in my own game. :'(
-
At this point, I'm guessing/hoping that the final game will be Blake Johnson vs Tiago Lemos.
Tiago has definitely played the massive switch pop card to knock people out. I feel like Blake Johnson has plenty of old school late flip/wallie OG tricks he could throw out. Would be a fun game to watch.
And on that note, if Tiago can pull out a random chair, I hope he plays Blake Johnson and Blake finds a random pole then sets up a vertical pole jam as the final letter to win ;D
-
Blake vs Tiago for the finals, best two out of three no repeat tricks....who ya got?
-
Bummed that Tiago did a switch shove twice.
-
Repeating tricks should definitely not be allowed, just like in a game of regular skate.
-
I cant understand Tiago hate...nollie backheel first try, massive croocks first try, all his defenses...back 360 I never seen dude doing that....
Haters, keep doing your wallies in nice high watters and gravis on foot.
-
the repeat tricks are annoying, so is setting up the chair before the stairs/the fake hydrant. they should only skate whats already there how it is.
-

Nobody is hating on Tiago. The dude is universally loved, even here on slap. Just some of the choices he's made in these games come across a little like cheap shots. Mainly because he is so supernaturally amazing at skateboarding that he probably doesn't need to stay so safely in his wheelhouse to win these games.
This is a competition and they all want to win, which is fine. But the main purpose of these things are as an entertainment product for people like us to watch and repetitive tricks are less interesting to watch.
Tiago is one of the best to ever do it and seems like a genuine and humble guy, no one disagrees with that, no need to get bent out of shape over incredibly minor criticisms.
Personally I'm much more confused by the fact that he went to Barcelona and apparently only packed one outfit.
And wallies super fun!

Pretty sure they filmed the majority/all of the series in one day, then just stagger the releases of the edits.

I’ve heard it was all filmed in one day, except for the final.

that was a great game
-
the hydrant stairs nollie late flip was a low blow for half way through a game.

Fuck these guys are so good. Fucking insane how often they can do such gnarly tricks in 2 tries. Adriel is very good, that switch kickflip back tail was incredible.
-

Tiago walked so Adriel could crawl
-
Damn I was rooting for Blake. Adriel holding onto slides and grinds is impressive though
-
Damn that was a great game. I definitely wanted to see Tiago Vs Blake but not mad at Adriel making it to finals. The way he sits on those tech grind/slide tricks is wild. Fire hydrant late flip was out there but if that's what it takes to get those letters by all means.
-
Adriel is fucking good - heavy tricks where going down. He make Blake look bad in the beginning.
Was really rooting for Blake - great guy - and like his power style. He didn’t gave up and was really fighting back - way best game so far.
Adrien earn the win.
Hydrant placed on second step was the only thing throwing a shadow on the game…

Goddamn, Tiago's defense is nuts.

Was a good game, but I stand by everything I said about Tiago earlier in the competition
-
Tiago pulling off that nollie late flip first try was amazing.. Also the back to back perfect nollie flips down the big set. Wow these guys are good. I was rooting for Adriel but Tiago deserves it for sure.
-
Really fun to watch. Both nollie back 180 heels looked lovely. Back to back nollie flips was nice. Adriel's flick on those late flips actually makes them look ok (same with Tiago). Also, sw heel back tail is a nice looking trick, thought Tiago had it. Good shit all around though.
-
The level is pretty nuts here. It's by far the skate game media thing online. And Tiago is the best, cool move at the end
-
Accepting the ss crooks was a bad call.
Tiago's move sharing the prize in the end made me happy though..
-
that was dope. both put up a good fight. winner deserved it. wholesome ending.
-
The winner (no spoilers 8))sharing the prize money at the end - how can you dislike the guy? What a class act.
-
I don’t think you can be a better sportsman than that handsome Brazilian I just watched.

I agree in both counts.
Also, this seems to be the year for beautiful sw heels. Feel like I’ve seen a bunch over the last few months.
-
Switch crook was definitely a bad call but tiago's a fuckin class act fair play, landing that nollie late flip first try got me gassed and sharing the prize money was some wholesome shit. Big respect. Some of the shit he's got on lock's an absolute joke too.
-

Neither did he, probably.

Established pro helping a younger pro out - you love to see this happen.
Mariana who won Queen of MACBA is probably getting boards and shoes from Tiago if she isn't already flow. And skating that much with him is going to accelerate her progression in terms of skill / professionally.
-
I’m surprised nobody did anything basic. Just jumped right into it.
-

With the format where they take turns setting the trick, I think you need to. How many mega pop tricks against Tiago can you actually survive? It's basically a race to land 5+ f'd tricks first.

My friends and use MACAB rules when we play Grinds / Slides, the format doesn't let you build momentum or go for easier tricks to reset back grinds / slides. More intense because you can't keep spamming tricks that you know your opponent can't do (Tailslide, Tailslide Fakie, Tailslide Shove if your opponent can't Tailslide).
-
Tiago is seriously one of the best and such a class act at the end.

That was a great final, both seemed to have a bit of an off day with their go-to's but that made the game better. Last trick was a bad call, avoiding running into that ledge after the trick is a major part of that spot. Also do you really have to hug after every single trick?

Tiago really wanted to win, he played like he was the cool guy all the time and hyped on his opponent tricks and even hyping and hugging them like they are BFF but his wasnt so non chalant about this competition he would retry the last trick like he did on the switch flip, thing was, on the switch flip he didnt had just one letter left.

Other thing, oh Tiago is such a nice guy giving a few bucks to the other guy, dude, Tiago has a best selling signature shoe on New Balance and his a really well established pro nowdays, a few buck for him is just peanuts.
I like Tiago and I think he is really good, but Slap, stop acting like he is a modern day Jesus, OK??
Yeah, Tiago really wanted to win. And he won, good for him

Yeah but Jesus was flexing too hard with that whole resurrection thing. He should have just switch tre-flipped for mankind first.
