MY SKATEPARK!
I appreciate being able to make this happen. Anything I ever get from skating will go back into it, too stoked!!!!
-
Most people get backyard pools, Shane's gotta backyard street league course. He'll probably win more now or something.
-
I would watch him skate that all day.
-
That shit is double edged.i would love to have a neighbor with a park but i would hate to have to ear him skate all the damn time.

can't deny my jealousy

shane o'neils backyard is better than any skatepark in my area.

Street league course lol, parks are being made this way now this is the type of obstacles that get used most. More veteran dudes don't like it but understand. A pool would have been much better, save tons of space. Guy lives in California it's not like there' shortages of good skateparks

Because I skate that means I want to ear someone else try the same damn flatground trick over and over while I'm trying to relax in my own damn backyard ?!?

i'd be surprised, I doubt any pro skater could afford Shaqs old house, even the birdman. The guys earn good money, but not 30 to 40 mil a year type money. Sick backyard park, and i'm sure he has permit type restrictions on how late and what times he can skate it.
-
It was Canseco's but he moved out and was living with P.Rod and Eldridge's little brother. The primitive interviews said P.rod got a new house so I wonder if him and P.rod got a new park together.w

When Dylan Rieder first introduced the private skatepark he got together with Biebel and others, he said that they did not want to be surrounded by fans all the time. That's why they got their own park.
When Shane got here for the last CPH-pro, he seemed hyped on the outdoor skatepark and started to skate.
He could skate for about 5 minutes until the first kid started to get a picture and autograph. Then the next kid asked and so on.
Ishod and Luan didn't have that problem and could skate all the time (I don't know why).
I can understand that celebreties got responsibilities towards their fans. So when you want to take a day off and skate "in private"(or actually skate), it should be OK.
Would he tell people to fuck off instead of signing shirts, he would be considered as an even bigger dick.
-
That looks like a really cool park and it's sick that he decided to do an outdoors park. I assumed Shane makes a whole lot of money, but feels insane that he can pretty much just throw something like 200.000$ down the drain, unless he's planning on living there for a really long time or can sell it to some other streetleague pro. Dude doesn't seem like the biggest sellout either.

Not even one standard flat ledge or a manual pad?

i dont understand A frame obstacles. I have never seen anything of that sort in real life and the only time i've ever seen it in a video is that Australian spot thats a very mild version of it. A frame obstacles are the product of 2010s "street plaza" craze. if these exist in real life someone please correct me.
On a side note, flying off a slant ramp onto a down rail is the scariest shit of all time.

well at the beginning of the year he knows if he makes $1,000,000 then he will need to save for taxes and pay $350,000 at the end of the year. Instead he used his "tax-able earnings" to build a "training facility" and gets taxed on a much smaller amount of money (free skate park in his backyard, vs paying that money to the gov't). This is how rich people stay rich AND have amazing nice shit. tax write-offs become a huge loophole once you're making more than average.

Who is bitching about the noise issue? Its a non-issue. Anybody who has had even a backyard ramp knows the deal. You talk to your neighbors before you build it, and you skate during the day so the noise doesn't bother anybody. That basic shit, along with the fact that he lives in a neighborhood where I doubt that the houses are exactly packed in next to each other, makes it a non-issue. Have any of you ever built a flatbar or a box and skated it in your street? Was it a huge problem with your neighbors? Usually the answer is no.
Seriously, just shut the fuck up trying to start an argument where there is none you idiot kids.
And Easley making those weird envy threads again....really, who gives a shit who has what private skatepark? Those shits are cheesy as fuck anyway. Street skateboarding is to be done on the streets.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. Of course that park doesn't look fun to skate to people who'd be too scared to do anything on the obstacles in the first place :D.
lol, @ the gipper claiming I'm tryna make "envy threads". All this is about is a great skateboarder who's done well enough for himself to build his own dream park. this shit shouldn't make you envious it should get you MOTIVATED! And obviously its interesting enough since people are talking about it. please feel free to hop off my dick at any time.
and all you fake ass "street skating elitist" need to fucking stop. i probably skate street more than most of y'all anyway and i don't even be on that shit. there aint nothing wrong with skating parks, and if you had a really good one in your backyard or even just nearby, you'd skate that shit regularly. obviously street footage is more interesting to watch/film but whether I'm at some raw ass midwest spot back in my hometown or some perfectly crafted plaza in arizona, all that matters to me is the actual act of skateboarding (landing tricks, hanging with friends, etc). the actual place is irrelevant as long its skateable, So i don't understand how y'all could even question why someone would want to have the perfect environment for learning new tricks & skating with friends right in their backyard. you could have those great all day skate sessions followed by some good partying/chilling with the homies every weekend.

People complaining are ridiculous. If I were in his position, I would have a backyard park too. So what if there's other parks around. First off, it'd be so chill to be able to wake up and literally have a crazy good park ready for me. Second, he's a pro skater. Any time he goes to any public park he's going to get about 4 minutes of actual skating before he gets bombarded with fans wanting pictures and signatures.
Also, being able to skate without pressure is something these guys don't have that we do. I bet many pro's feel like they can't just fuck around at a park because the kids are going to be expecting next level shit every time they skate. Or kids will be filming. It seems like not a big deal but I bet it's something a pro has to always think about.
Like if I'm trying to work on a couple grinds I'm weak at, I can go to my park and do that shit and fuck up and nobody gives a shit. If Shane O'neill shows up to a park and wants to work on a blunt side because he's really bad at them (i'm just pretending) every kid in the park is gonna have all eyes on him trying to learn a new or hard trick for him. That would suck. I think Bam mentioned something similar to this in an interview. He was afraid to go to parks because he hadn't been skating in forever and was really rusty. He didn't want to show up to a park and have kids watch him and judge him publicly and film him messing up all the time.
Having your own park would be the bomb. Can't believe people are hating on it.

there was one in a Bay area school yard, its in a few videos the one i remember distinctly is Rob Welsh's Aesthetics part. But i think the A Frame is skatepark creation not based on real obstacle, just like the Euro gap. The first A frame i saw was at Southside, it looked like they just cut the center out of the bank flat bank and pushed them together, I know Big O lurks on here from time to time maybe he'll have some insight.
-
I can't understand why you'd spend all that money on a private park that doesn't have a jersey barrier or a cellar door simulator for raw street vibes. And not a slappy curb in sight...
-
Santa Fe's new park is like this and it's fun, but not everyday kinda fun. Every ledge is over knee high and they look like Shane's. Can't poosibly be wallied into tricks.

"motivation".... ok, that's even more pathetic. Your drive to skate is in hopes that you will eventually get some sort of large compensation? I'm sure he enjoys his skatepark, and I don't blame him one bit for getting one, but I'll never skate it, so what do I care that the kid got a skatepark? Again, good for him, but who cares, aside from people who envy the possessions of others?

You sit here and try to frame everything i say into the absolute worst light and thats nowhere even close to what I'm actually saying. There's nothing wrong with seeing someone work hard to do well for themselves & getting inspired to do the same for yourself in your own way. How does me making this thread equate to envy when i hold absolutely no negative feelings towards him because of it? Im not the one throwing shade here, it's you who's going on & on about some "who cares if he got a skatepark, stick to the streets, blah blah blah" when this thread was already 2 pages deep & growing before you even saw it. Backyard bowls, pools, mini ramps, etc have always been a part of skateboarding & they've been talked about & admired as much as anything else. clearly people find this particular setup interesting enough to talk about as well, so feel free to stop making an ass of yourself any time now.

I frame it how I see it. I didn't mean envy in the negative feelings way, but in the drooling over somebody else's stuff sort of way. I also never said anything about sticking to the streets. I said I probably won't skate that park. Skate whatever man, skate a pyramid at a park, skate a flat gap next to a fire hydrant, you know, do your thing. I still think its pretty lame to be motivated by seeing somebody else's shit. You really aren't bad at skating, but seriously, do you really think that some day you'll make a living like Shane O'Neill? Dude was already huge by the time he was your age. It shouldn't matter though, because skating is fun, and doing the next new fun thing is a much better motivator that is what will make you stick with it for life, not delusions of grandeur

Reagan, stop pretending like you're not just being contrarian right now. You're wasting your talent for debate on a lost argument. Only someone who doesn't skate wouldn't understand why other skaters would be interested in Shane O'Neill's park.
Oh word you never said anything about sticking to the streets? you seem pretty tame today cuz you were definitely on your hater shit earlier
And Easley making those weird envy threads again....really, who gives a shit who has what private skatepark? Those shits are cheesy as fuck anyway. Street skateboarding is to be done on the streets.
anyways, as ive already stated and been flamed for many times, my true talent lies in music. I gave up on that pro skater shit back in like 8th grade man, as far as skateboarding is concerned its really just something I do for fun, like anyone else. I've liked shane oneill since he was just an aussie flow kid for nike and to see him do so well for himself that he was able to build this amazing park motivates me to continue my own progression & be successful in my own ventures in the years to come. it doesnt matter who it is, just seeing normal people I know do well for themselves helps me push myself to do the same. lmaoo here we go. Listen my finances are nobody's business but let me make it very clear that every thing i own is paid for by me & me only. Even if my entire family dropped dead today...my lifestyle would still be exactly the same. I stand on my own.
All i wanna know is how i always get managed to be put into these positions where people asking me all sorts of weird shit or tryna make some crazy claims like they actually know anything about my life aside from what i choose to post on here. people say i always make this shit about me....nah man, this a shane oneill thread. Like I said, my comparison only revolves around your SLAP persona but I bet your real life one isn't that far off. People come at you on here for the most part because you come off sounding like a pretentious, narcissistic twat who tries to maintain this persona of some sort of "baller." You speak like you're world-wise and time tested but your ignorance shines through every time. Do us all a favor and just focus again.

Jesus. You guys are obviously all very intimidated by this person because he speaks confidently about himself. All of your insecurities come out full force because the thought that someone else has bigger dreams than you and is actually working hard at attaining goals while you sit and do nothing scares you. You guys realize this was a fucking thread about a skatepark which got turned into a full on attack on someone because they were defending themselves against a bunch of ASSUMPTIONS projected by all of your insecurities. You guys really are pathetic.
edit: and if his posts really piss you off that much why do you not just hit the ignore button?

All i do is express myself & be me, theres no "persona" to expose here thats why my gov't name & social media accounts are all public information. you see me in person or anywhere else on the net & I'm on the same shit. i just post & speak my mind like everyone else but since I'm not afraid to speak out lot of the fakes & negativity on here, I get caught up in the bullshit. I just find it weird how all of these people who I've never even met or talked to on here before can harbor so much negative energy towards me, while in real life, i don't have to deal with any of that because i get along with everyone. I mean i have my flaws like everyone else but you guys are ridiculous. I have a very high self-belief but I've always been the type to see the good & believe in others just as much & try to help them as well. I never had a me-first mentality and have always been known as a thoughtful & selfless person so how exactly does that fit your description of a narcissist?
So its cool for everyone else to post in the set-up thread, or post their shoes, and do all that other stuff but whenever I post my own shoe rotation, or setups, all of the sudden I'm trying to be a "baller"? That's what/how I'm really skating out here! there are all sorts of people who regularly post new setups or loads of shoes on there and no one says anything bad about that, but when i do it I get all these accusations of buying my shoes at the mall or comments like my setup isn't "cool" enough or all this other nonsense. all i do is post the same pictures as anyone else!
for example you said some shit about me posting weed pics in the bump when high section. i believe you did the same yourself and I was actually hyped on it because obviously its a weed thread, so how am i wrong for doing the same? i been posting in that thread for years, why WOULDNT i post pictures of my weed in there? or like with the shit wildbill said about my sig. People have pictures of their favorite pro's or whatever as sigs all the time...yet when I do i trick in real life that I'm personally hyped on and use it as my own signature, that makes me full of myself? I just don't get it ???

You just don't get it d00d and I don't think you ever will but I'll try one last time to simplify it for you. have fun getting flow for shit(or keeping your flow status) when you're openly hating on a website monitored by the industry.

Reagan, stop pretending like you're not just being contrarian right now. You're wasting your talent for debate on a lost argument. Only someone who doesn't skate wouldn't understand why other skaters would be interested in Shane O'Neill's park. And I'll be goddamned if you don't go out of your way to make whatever d00d says into some negative bullshit all the time. I honestly don't know what you get out of it.
There's no lost argument. Obsessive consumerism disgusts me, and I find d00d's hyperconsumerist, entitled attitude to be abhorrent. The idea of being motivated to work hard for a cause that benefits your community or humanity is dying, being replaced by the stupid, "get mine" attitude that is the most negative and destructive thing on the planet. Try to find me on the "gear" board- you never will. That "look at all the ways they can sell cool to us" bullshit, and the idea of chasing money to get it just don't work with me.
How about seeing a picture of something you want to change as motivation? How about looking at a problem and being motivated to solve it? Why not a picture of an ideal you'd like your community, no matter how large or small, to reach? Not looking at a fucking picture of a skatepark and claiming you plan on having one by contributing jack shit to the world and saying it motivates you. You want people to stop making fun of you and hoping you fail? FUCKING CONTRIBUTE SOMETHING. Then people will want you to succeed at contributing. That me mine "I'm gonna be..." bullshit is nothing but obnoxious and unlikable arrogance.
nawww, fuck that shit.
I don't like getting too serious into that shit though, because it pisses me off like no other. Instead I clown.

Instead I clown.
nailed it

you niggas out here writing the most compelling speeches for the wrong person. Just because I like nice things and thrive to do well for myself doesnt give me a me-first attitude, especially when im often supporting, encouraging, or defending others. I just dont back down from conflict so when someone tries to get at me on bullshit, and I go right back at them in defense, all of the sudden i look like the asshole because im better at it than they are. So tell me, how do i act entitled? who & and what am i supposedly asking for? I go out & get anything i have or want to obtain, so what exactly am i entitled to? also what do you actually know about me gipper? how do you know how much I contribute to society? When have you seen me in person & been around me well enough to make an accurate assumption about what & how much i actually do on day to day basis? I grew up seeing my mom being selfless & generous and that trait has directly been passed on to me. Ive always been a selfless person and i dont need to shout from the rooftops on SLAP every time i support a cause or give someone a helping hand. All you been doing the past few days is twisting my words until they mean something entirely different & then try to follow it up with some fake ass "holier-than-tho" statement like you arent some 30 year old man who gets his rocks off being The Gipper with over 20,000 posts on Slap. Get over yourself ::)
i swear you niggas get yourselves more upset & riled up talking about me than I do. I like rhetoric so i entertain the bullshit, but i aint gon lie man, i be gettin mildly frustrated because SLAP is the only place where i have to argue about shit that shouldnt even be an argument. Like how niggas gon say im only acting out a persona when you all know my name, face, and the city i live in? How is anything about me fake when its all out there for everyone to see for themselves? Shit PM me if any of yall wanna skate Phoenix/Tempe or something, come see me in person. thats whats im saying man, niggas tryna act like im not allowed to speak the normal slang i grew up speaking, or like they know exactly how i grew up & what i had to endure throughout my life & now it doesnt match up with what they read on here or something. i dont even what to tell yall man. just block me or something, cuz clearly you guys are gonna look at me some type of way REGARDLESS. I could save 10 children from a burning building & niggas would still call me a selfish coward for not putting out the fire too lol. i guess it is what it is
