Boardfeel was a lie set up by Big-Skateboarding to sell you thinner, cheaper shoes.
[close]

A friend of my genuinely believes this and it sort of makes sense - slim vulcanized shoes rose to popularity in the mid to late 2000 i.e. the Great Recession. Manufacturers needed a shoe they could make for cheap, sell for a higher markup while keeping the shoes affordable for cash strapped consumers.

+1 here

Here is a simpler explanation: slimmer shoes fit with the aesthetic of the time. The rest is possibly correct with simplicity and potential profit. It's not like board feel is a complete lie, but it's probably not as crucial a determinant of performance as how the shoe grips, slides/flicks, wears, and supports. A thin shoe might be less ankle roll prone from some.

seems like they are trying to groom another flow to pro to SOTY all in one year like they did with FOY.

I 100% agree with everyone that this was a great watch and he is super good and super wholesome. but its super weird for them to make this. Its like the berrics PUSH project but a thrasher thing. They never do this ever so its weird that they are grooming him with a 30 minute documentary of some flow skater. He hasnt even been announced to Toy machine as an am. Weird campaign of sorts.....

Nice recaps thanks ! Would you say spitfire formula4 are much harder than x99 bones when cruising to the spot ? If yes I might stay on x99 forever haha
[close]

I'd say the x99 still feels slightly harder than a F4 99a, like a traditional 101a "should" feel. Definitely go with a wider X99 shape like the V5 or V6 if you plan on pushing between spots and save the V1s for smooth parks.

From personal experience this is how I'd rate them softest to hardest:
Dragons 93a
F4 93a / Bones Easy Streets aka 99a (maybe the Spitfire 97a, mixed reviews on them, haven't ridden them)
F4 99a / X97
X99
F4 101a
Bones STF 103a
Bones SPF 83b

Interesting take on x99s being harder than F4 99s (my experience was the opposite*); they perform like 99a spits but still feel bouncier/absorb more crust. *caveat here is that my black set of x99s v6s feel like spit 99s, whereas the white x99s did not. Much like how the old colored (especially the yellow) STFs felt better/hardder than the white.

I do agree that the x97s are underrated but still find them too close to the dragons and dislike the pinch stick/squeal. I just can't have that regardless of brand.

Knees been hurting so I skated the spit 93s yesterday (flipped a coin, them or x99s). I did stick a bit more on tail/nose/blunt slides compared to 103a stfs (but that's a given) but still LOVE they way they sound and feel and cannot wait for the reformulated spit 97s...those are going to be 'it'

Turn Nick Mathews pro already.

And kick TnT off finally. Don't get how he has not been cancelled for the allegations against him.

I only saw one video that got me vaguely curious, which I then skipped through. I can now present you the only second worth watching on the entire channel.

Quiz question:

What role did Richie Jackson play in this dude breaking his femur?

A. He designed the fucking death trap
B. He came up with the plan that someone was going to drop in (not him)
C. He found two volunteers who were willing to try (read: were afraid to say no to him)
D. He pushed the two volunteers by screaming over a microphone to the audience that he doubted whether they were brave enough to commit
E. All of the above
Will be interesting to see if a lawsuit ensues as a result of this, if any serious injuries occurred.
Imagine bringing Richie Jackson onto your team, thinking he’ll loan credibility to the skate aspect of your podcast, and dood ends up bankrupting your whole fuckwit organization instead.

I just got some of the black/gum 440 V2 and after the first session here are my thoughts:

- These things are comfy and cushiony
- Fit nice for wider feet
- Nice flick for a cup
- I like the new N

overall for my first pair of new balance im highly impressed, and 85 dollars which is great

I like these insoles but I usually run FP, anyone have recommendations on which model insole they use? I have some orthotic kingfoam elites but those are a little big/tall for these ones.

These fit well in HIs I had (they stacked fine on the the super thin stock ortholite), not sure how they fit in the lows. Thin forefoot, high arch, deep heel cup.
